It was a beautiful day for a drive on the "high road" from Santa Fe to Taos. The aspens on the mountains were changing to bright yellow and along the creeks and rivers the cottonwoods were echoing a familiar yellow tint. Several stops along the way at art and weaving shops delayed our progress to Taos. Our late lunch at... More

The food and the atmosphere at Rancho de Chimayo are wonderful! Recommend the mole and the sangria. The portions are very generous.

We lunched at Rancho de Chimayo and enjoyed the Mexican food. We ordered a chalupa (with sides) and tacos (with rice and residents beans)Both dishes were authentic and well prepared. Sopapilas accompanied the meal and were served warm with honey. The restaurant is large, has both inside and outside seating and also offers a bar. A gift shop and jewelry... More

There was going to be a 25 minute wait for a table, so I went to the Cantina and had a beer and updated my journal. Finally, my table was ready and my server came to take my order. When I asked what she recommended, she looked at me like a deer caught in the headlights. Things didn't improve -... More

We got there around noon on a Monday and there was a short wait. They took our drink orders and before they arrived our table was ready. We ordered chips and salsa. There were 5 of us and the portion was enough for 1. The salsa was just ok. I wouldn't order chips and salsa again. Their enchiladas were very... More

En route to Pagosa Springs, we stopped for lunch at one of our favorite NM restaurants. I never get tired of driving the High Road to Taos or eating here. It was busy on a Friday during the Fall color season, but worth a short wait in the bar before being seated for lunch. Have been eating here for over... More

We had been to the Rancho probably 20 years ago, so while we were on the high road to Taos, we stopped by again. The food is good and the service was excellent. I order the stuffed sopapillas and my husband ordered the enchiladas. We were served sopapillas with honey for dessert.

We haven't been here for 12 years but felt welcomed from the minute we entered the restaurant. We didn't have reservations and were able to be seated right away - I suspect that is only because we were there late afternoon vs. the height of a lunch or dinner service. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food delicious -... More

This restaurant has a great reputation but was a letdown. There's nothing on the menu that can't be found in almost every other New Mexican-themed restaurant, and nothing on my plate was noteworthy. The salsa fresca was mostly tired iceberg lettuce, the squash was overcooked, the chiles rellenos were lacking flavor and covered in a sauce so hot that I... More
