This time I tried the green child stew. Fantastic! Best I've ever had! One of my friends had tamales - also the best he'd ever had. Go!

We were there right at the wire to get breakfast and they did not turn us away. Food and service was still great as if we were there at the height of the breakfast meal. Tried the french toast with bacon and it was all made to perfection. The pinon coffee was excellent. Wish I had a bottomless cup. Need... More

We have been to Rancho de Chimayo over the years when visiting Santa Fe. It continues to be a delightful experience. We had lunch this time and the soup and salad were tasty and served with sopapillas. The soup could have been hotter but it is difficult at this altitude to have food stay hot. Service was friendly and efficient.... More

Big restaurant, plenty of tables. Our waitress was engaging and helped us pick some of the local favorite meals to eat. We loved the Prickly Pear Lemonade. It helped soothe the mouth after tasting the unbelievable tasty and chili hot green and red choke sauce on our meals. The guacamole and chips are a MUST. The chips are a requirement-... More

Unique area in northern New Mexico in an historic restaurant, but the food was only average. One can easily do better in most any town in NM. Skimpy on the green and red chile sauces. Food lacked the zest that one expects.

You can tell the food is going to real when you see numerous Hispanic multi-generational family groups dining near you. If you are driving in or through Chimayo, this is a very good place to stop and have a good pleasant meal.

My wife and I dined Friday evening at an outstanding restaurant. The bottles of wine were very reasonably priced, and the food was excellent. My Trout dish was very good, but I do have to admit that my wife's enchilada plate was even better. Their chile con queso appetizer was very very tasty. They also serve awesome breakfast. Breakfasts are... More

Many guides list this restaurant as a must see. Well, we saw...was not worth the trouble of finding it. The food was average at best. We each ordered soup and both arrived not warm at all. The entrees were no better than any mediocre Mexican style restaurant anywhere.. service was adequate. All in all, it is just ok. Most gps... More

The staff was sitting around the fire cussing and one employee was talking about how she passed a blood clot in the shower as our family dined just a few feet away. I lost my appetite!! Service was horrible for being such a slow night. We never were asked if we needed refills. Which a refill of water would've been... More

Maybe my expectations were too high, but this was good, average New Mexican food not any different than the others. The service was slow, and the atomosphere was fine, but somewhat dated in a not well cared for manner. The location and the drive to get there may be the best thing about it. It is an interesting drive with... More
