The staff was sitting around the fire cussing and one employee was talking about how she passed a blood clot in the shower as our family dined just a few feet away. I lost my appetite!! Service was horrible for being such a slow night. We never were asked if we needed refills. Which a refill of water would've been... More

Maybe my expectations were too high, but this was good, average New Mexican food not any different than the others. The service was slow, and the atomosphere was fine, but somewhat dated in a not well cared for manner. The location and the drive to get there may be the best thing about it. It is an interesting drive with... More

We have been going to the Rancho de Chimayo for somewhere around 30 years, They offer some of the best Northern New Mexico food available. Our visit on Dec 29 was by far and away our worst experience at the Rancho. We had 6pm reservations for a party of 6. On our arrival e were quickly seated they told us... More

This restaurant has hands down the best traditional New Mexican food my wife and I have ever had! We shared a combo plate and had green chile stew and very good margaritas. And employee named Norman was very helpful to answering questions about the area and giving suggestions to us as we were leaving. We will definitely drive up to... More

My family was visiting from out of town and they recommended this restaurant based on a review they read on a food magazine. Our expectations were high and this restaurant met our expectations. Very tasty new Mexican food.

We have been coming to Rancho de Chimayo for years and are never disappointed. Chris provided excellent service and we ordered some tasty items for lunch. My wife had chicken fajitas and I had Enchiladas Pequeno with Carne Adovado and darned it was good. It was a pretty nice day so we set on the patio under a gas heater... More

Had eaten here twice over the past 20 years. Menu was tired and dated, unappetizing. Soup contained more tortilla chips than soup (a thin chicken broth). Salad was ordinary - I could have made it better out of a bag. Room was freezing, service inexperienced.

New Mexico is well known for its Green Chile, however once you venture to northern NM Red Chile is king. Don't get me wrong you still can get green, but the red Chile in the northern parts of New Mexico is to die for. The picture that accompanies this review is the Platon Especial. It is loaded with red and... More

I did the right thing for once. We were there years ago. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the Christmas holidays. The owner, still visible and working away since 1965. Perfection is the word. We both had enchiladas. Mine chicken and my wife chose shrimp wrapped in blue corn tortillas. Both were bathed in green chili. What else! Spectacular. Their... More

Enjoyed great lunch sitting in the backyard on a warm November day. Well worth a detour, and ideally combined with a visit to nearby Irvin and Lisa Trujillo's Centinela Traditional Arts store. Two "musts" in northern NM Chimayo area.
