The interior needed renovation. The chicken was overcooked, vegetables over cooked (mushy). The person at Super 8 recommended this to us, not happy with the recommendation.

A typical small-town diner - spacious, friendly staff, good food and lots of it. What makes Sonya's special is they cook real New Mexican dishes, which to me is one of the great joys of visiting New Mexico. We visited for supper, then the next morning for breakfast. Food was great both times. If you're in the area, Sonya's is... More

We chose to eat Mexican food and it was good- there are not many places to choose from in Bloomfield and most are just like Sonyas. The food was better than we thought it would be and a value for what you got.

Very friendly staff. Be sure to try the prime rib when on the special. Good hearty american style breakfast. I would eat here several times a week when I worked in the are.

Great place for comfort food. You need to be patient with service - it is slow but friendly and the food is good.

We were staying down the road, and we saw cars around Sonya's. It looked like local people coming in, so we went in for our supper. I ordered green chili as it looked interesting and it was something I had never tried. It was so hot--spicy hot that I couldn't eat it. New Mexicans have different taste than Canadians! No... More

There are few restaurants in Bloomfield and being that our hotel staff recommended Sonia's, we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. The plates are ample and very good. I orders the chicken fried steak. The only problem I had was I wanted chile instead of gravy. It's a good thing I ordered the chile on... More

I would not classify Sonya's as "New Mexico" cuisine. The food is OK at best. Some things like the pies, biscuits'n'gravy, or cinnamon roll can be very good depending on who is cooking that day. I've eaten here many times and have never been wowed too much by anything.
