Street Boi’s straight up badass. Built around the setting of a 60s cinema, the interior is very heavy on knock-off movie posters, neon strips, and comfy red couches. This diner is packed with elements of Chuck Norrises and Bruce Lees, from their own movie posters,...writings on the wall, even knitted into the staff t-shirts. It’s nice and all in terms of aesthetics and brand identity, but I’m not really getting the entire “Street Boi”, Chuck Norris, and Asian-American cuisine connection. I really think they can do a better job at communicating their brand story. Having come on a Wednesday (50k baos from 6pm onwards), the folks and I tried all the baos — which are basically burgers except you switch the classic buns for white, fluffy, Chinese baos. Not quite the “street” essence I had in mind. The fillings range from Japanese wasabi-katsu pairings to Vietnamese Banh-Mi-esque flavor bombs, and classic patty-lettuce-tomatoes threesomes. They’re good enough for 50k, but some of the pairings lack balance, and the portions are meager at best. Really though, I can’t complain at its price point.More
