I would have given it a 4 but i ordered a steak. Firsty i had to request a steak knife. Then the wrong sauce came twice yet there are only 2 choices mustard or rosemary i had ordered the former. The meat came raw and bloody and i had requested med/well. My hubby had the vegetarian bobotie which he enjoyed... More

We had dinner at two occasions in this well located restaurant. Took a drink outside with a nice view on the mountains. Food is excellent! Wines are great! Staff is very friendly and service is good. Definitely one of the best eating options in Swellendam!

Staff at our guest house recommended this restaurant. What a lovely place. The building itself is historical, the views amazing, the staff friendly and polite. We chose the trio of venison beautifully presented and full of flavour, also the bobotie which was also very tasty. The Alvi Drift merlot was reasonably priced. All in, a very pleasant evening. Thank you!

We weren't expecting to find a restaurant like this in the small town of Swellendam. The menu was quite interesting, the food outstanding, and the service excellent. After having endured so many fish & chips joints along the Garden Route, we were thrilled to find a real restaurant in this charming little town. If we lived in Swellendam (or were... More

A friend who owns a guesthouse in Swellendam recommended that we visit the Drostdy Restaurant and we are so glad that we took her advice. The staff are friendly and helpful, the menu is varied and the food was delicious and attractively presented. There were people of all ages sitting inside and outside. Prices for food and wine were very... More

Food was just amazing , food was of a high standard across the coast and this stood out ... Veggie options were well thought out , great taste and in a cottage type bulding with basic decor .. Service was fine, not as overly customer focused but the food made up for that .... bill came to about £36 for... More

We dined out in South Africa for two weeks and this was the best restaurant visited. I had a trio of venison which was delicious and perfectly cooked. We didn't have a starter but the chef gave us a mini cup of home made soup to sample which was excellent. Our B&B owners at Babette Guest House booked it for... More

This is one of many good restaurants in this small, pretty town. It is next to, and part of, the Drostdy (old Magistrate Court) museum complex and the core of the building is an old farm cottage, transferred and restored on this site. Full of character, with its thatched roof and seating inside and on a large outside verandah, the... More

Our second dinner in Swellendam we wanted to have as much exposure to venison as possible, so our landlords booked us into Drostdy (having been to Field & Fork the night before). The old cottage has a beautiful atmosphere, but staff does not do a thing to enhance it. They are efficient but careless. On the beautiful century old tables... More
