Fine Cuisine in the French Corner

Moving through the quaint and exceptionally cosy Wine and Schnapps tasting room (if you are able to tear yourself away), you will find the restaurant at Chamonix. Magnificent setting, it's like you're actually sitting in the middle of the magical mountian forest that surrounds you. We were... read more

We used to go to the restaurant frequently before it moved over the road from the manor house and thoroughly enjoyed David's hospitality, food and service, to the extent that for special occasions we would head up to Franschhoek and Mon Plaisir. From a personal point of view, unfortunately David is no longer running Mon Plaisir, however we have been... More

Great food great service. I had the mussels from the specials board. They were delicious. The wine tasting the tear was great too. Our host had real comical personality which made it fun.

loved the setting, feel as if you were sitting in a tree house in a forest. Food is brilliant and so are the wine and service. Was happily surprised

We came in the off season, and were one of just a few to enjoy the beauty of this restaurant. Food was delicious and the wine went well with the steak that we ordered. The staff was attentive and we tried the wine tasting before dinner and was a great social event.

I've never reviewed anything here previously, leaving my partner to do the reviews. However, after our experience of eating here I feel I must warn potential diners. The main food was OK, and as others have pointed out is traditional French, so lots of meat. I opted for pasta, which was edible but nothing to rave about. We then decided... More

Traditional c1970's French menu, poorly presented, poor standard of cooking, extremely slow service, grossly over priced food, appallingly bad deserts. We complained to the head chef who basically told us we were talking c***. The only redeeming feature of this restaurant is Chamonix wine at cellar prices (which is mad). To the owners and the head chef I have this... More

I do not like writing bad reviews of restaurants. In the Western Cape there are so many culinary options that it is simply easier to not return to a restaurant after a bad experience. However, me and my partner were part of the group of six eating with Neil H (see earlier review) and I feel I need to back... More

I'm a hotelier/restauranteur and honestly what I've experienced today is shocking! We were seated at a dirty table, there was a draft in the restaurant, there was no sparkling wine available (and this restaurant only has Chamonix wines on offer); there was no manager on the floor; the waiting staff has attitude; when we sent our orders back to the...
