Anyone that butchers, smokes and ages his own meats also possess a gregarious personality, in his buzzy bistro where we sampled wild game, my preference between springbok, eland and ostrich. The atmosphere on the day we were here was entertaining and filled with verve and some mirth.

The menu is fairly short and even though they claim to be a meat Restuarant the choices were somewhat basic (no lamb at all). The plating was elegant.

Starter of my mussels in cream and white wine was great but Friday night steak and chips special was disappointing. Steak was cooked perfectly by was chewy and had a big chunk of grizzle along the side. Also I did not like the malay/curry rub that was on the steak, would have been better with plain salt and pepper. The... More

Fabulous restaurant which we booked online after seeing the great menu but was disappointed to find that they had a very limited menu with hiked prices for Bastille day. The manager did surprise us but giving all our drinks on the house when we casually mentioned to waiter we expected their normal menu. Very friendly staff and we will go... More

At last I've found a restaurant in Franchhoek that serves wonderful food, is reasonably priced and is not a tourist rip-off serving pretentious nonsense. We dropped in without a reservation on Bastille Day. Being not too hungry, we ordered a few starters:- Mussels, Calamari and Beef Tartar. All three were utterly sublime! So we just ordered more! Without a doubt,... More

It was raining while I was walking, so I noticed their sign that said it was cozy inside. It was indeed. Nice atmosphere for lunch. There were three appetizers that sounded so delicious, that I ended up ordering two for my meal with a glass of wine. They were wonderful. Prices were a bit higher than what I've been paying,... We had a wonderful dinner with a few friends. The service was fair but the food was excellent. I have not eaten a better steak in Franschoek

Booked for breakfast for 12 people on Bastille Day. Despite being very busy on the day, service and food very good. Every one of our party only had compliments. I will definately go there again.

The atmosphere was great with a really nice vibe. However, the food is hopelessly overpriced for what is on offer. The cassoulet was tasteless and more of a duck stew than the real deal. The burger was pretty good though. The wine list is fairly limited. At lower prices this would be a reasonable bistro but it feels like a... More

Arrived without a booking as a last minute plan. Maitre D found us a table for two and was charming throughout, frequently following up, pouring wine, water etc. When the chosen meal was not available as supply of one item had run out, they made up a similar alternative without any hesitation. The result was delicious as was my wife's... More
