Lovely restaurant on the main street in Franschhoek. Starters were squid and octopus with fruits and chilli and a quinoa and pulled pork salad. Both were excellent. For main courses the steak was melt in the mouth superb. Wind sold by the carafe or bottle. Friendly service, informal atmosphere - a great hit.

After eating at the Foliage the night before, it was always going to be difficult to top that and the Dutch East doesn't do that BUT we were also very pleased with the whole packet there. Its not quite the same experience as the Foliage but the food was also delicious and well presented! The seared tuna in a sesame... More

Anyone that butchers, smokes and ages his own meats also possess a gregarious personality, in his buzzy bistro where we sampled wild game, my preference between springbok, eland and ostrich. The atmosphere on the day we were here was entertaining and filled with verve and some mirth.

Looking forward to a night out at a supposedly amazing restaurant for my 30th Birthday celabration turned into a nightmare. not usual in our nature to complain but this place was doing everything wrong. at least our waitress was nice. lets start :the starter : Pork belly : stunning presentation and very palatable the mains : the toughest cut of... The menu is fairly short and even though they claim to be a meat Restuarant the choices were somewhat basic (no lamb at all). The plating was elegant.

Starter of my mussels in cream and white wine was great but Friday night steak and chips special was disappointing. Steak was cooked perfectly by was chewy and had a big chunk of grizzle along the side. Also I did not like the malay/curry rub that was on the steak, would have been better with plain salt and pepper. The... More

Fabulous restaurant which we booked online after seeing the great menu but was disappointed to find that they had a very limited menu with hiked prices for Bastille day. The manager did surprise us but giving all our drinks on the house when we casually mentioned to waiter we expected their normal menu. Very friendly staff and we will go... More

At last I've found a restaurant in Franchhoek that serves wonderful food, is reasonably priced and is not a tourist rip-off serving pretentious nonsense. We dropped in without a reservation on Bastille Day. Being not too hungry, we ordered a few starters:- Mussels, Calamari and Beef Tartar. All three were utterly sublime! So we just ordered more! Without a doubt,... More

It was raining while I was walking, so I noticed their sign that said it was cozy inside. It was indeed. Nice atmosphere for lunch. There were three appetizers that sounded so delicious, that I ended up ordering two for my meal with a glass of wine. They were wonderful. Prices were a bit higher than what I've been paying,...
