Eating at the Tasting Room is always a special treat. The "surprise" menu on offer was just that - several courses of playful and creative food that were really interesting and masterfully presented. With a menu like this, it's natural to have highlights, as well as courses that you perhaps wouldn't have chosen. That is precisely the point though, to... More

Quite incredible food experience. Coming from Europe, a very good start to learn about fine South African cuisine (and the wines, if you take the tasting menu with wine pairing). All courses delicious and amazingly presented. Go there and reserve well in advance!

The tasting was called "Surprise." It lived up to the name. It began with a bland cornbread baked in a fish tin. A couple of dishes were good (not great)--one was a lattice of potato or batter in a circle with a little piece of red pepper and a leaf of a green veggie inside, and a tiny piece of... More

HAs to be on any serious foodie's wish list ... South African theme permeated but never kitsch or laboured . Service , presentation, atmosphere, FOOOOOOD all superb. Met sous chef , French, and were invited to share in back 'stage' enthusiasm for food and methods . Were surprised as each subsequent course surpassed the previous one!

I absolutely loved every minute of the 3 hr long dinner. It is a feast for the eyes. The presentation, story behind each dish, the wine pairing and taste was unbelievable. It is truly a lifetimes experience. It is expensive but well worth it. You have to book in advance and note that they close during Winter for a few... More

My fiancé (ex chef) and I were lucking enough to get into this sensational experience (to call it a restaurant just doesn't do it enough justice). It was by far the best culinary experience we have both ever experienced - notwithstanding the many incredible places we have travelled to and cuisine that we have been exposed to - the Tasting... We stayed at Leeu House and therefore I think we were able to make reservations for two the same night. We are so glad Leeu House recommended we dine here. I loved their art work, a bit quirky and fun. Not at all stuck-up. The menu is adjusted per person so you each get a slightly different tasting. We had... More

Definitely the BEST meal we have EVER had. We booked for the degustation with wine pairing. I cannot do this restaurant justice with my words, except to say......just go. Do not visit Franchhoek without experiencing this mouth watering extravaganza; however book well in advance. This restaurant takes food enjoyment to a new level. It's an experience rather than 'dinner out'.... More

My girlfriend and I came here while visiting Cape Town. We booked a dinner here for a night outside of Cape Town and were blown away by the experience. We ended up deciding to book a room at a small B&B in Franschhoek and I'm glad we did! Needless to say after the 8 course meal and wine pairing, you... More
