An overall disappointment - we we're expecting a good and nice experience, however we have been very disappointed by what we got. The food overall was not tasty - for my taste also not salty enough - more a kind of tasteless thing... No nice fish, no nice meat (Venison whatever, but Pork Belly instead) no nice setting - looks... More

Dining here was a great experience, particularly because of our server. Bradley was fun and charming and made the entire experience memorable.

It's rare to get such personal and warm service at a Michelin style restaurant. All the waiters and especially the somelier was friendly, personal and humorous. The decor is rustic, artsy and stripped down; unusual but cool. The Surprice Menu is 8 servings, which all were creative and ambitious. Unfortunately most of the dishes were forgettable taste wise. The quail... More

Quartier Francais is an interesting concept but in our (my wife and I) opinion it's a few steps beyond what makes for an excellent meal. We are both very much into the essence of food and dining so we were keen to try what we hoped would be the height of our eating experience in SA, unfortunately we were both... More

This was an interesting experience. The staff are very knowledgeable of the dishes they serve. It is an 8 course set menu. If you do the wine pairing it is 8 glasses of wine. Each person is served a different dish so you can have the whole experience. You are asked at the beginning if there is anything you don't... More

What a creative chief! The flavours complemented each other and mixed well. A true introduction to South Frican food. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Not to be missed! We didn't have the wine pairings as we don't drink all that quantity. But the waiter made some good recommendations for 2 glasses for each of us.

The tasting menu here is quite famous, and justifiably so. The combination of ingredients - locally sourced - and the wine pairings are extraordinary. But be prepared to spend at least 3, and maybe 4, hours at this meal. As in many tastings, the staff explains each course as it comes out and it's all very well-presented.

My wife and I were each served 8 courses, 6 of which were different for each of us. We tasted each other's dishes, so that was a total of 14 different items. The courses were tiny, i.e., we shared one oyster. We chose the wine pairings. Again 6 of the wines differed for each of us, so that was 14... More

It is difficult to get a table here. I was up at 6.25am a month previous to make sure we had a booking, but boy was it worth it. Really different foods presented in different forms. Do not go if you are not prepared to try something new. Margot Janse is leaving at the end of April. What a shame,... More
