I realize that the new owners want to make quick money, but ripping off hotel guests is not the way. What they did to us is totally illegal. We went in and I ordered a crab sandwich, listed as $18. They waitress said that the...price had gone up to $20. I asked her on the menu where it showed this and she said it did not. Did I mention there was a thunderstorm outside so we didn't want to drive anywhere else.
At the end of the meal I told the owner that this was called "bait and switch" and it was illegal to charge more than the posted price. She said "the price of crab has gone up". Now, they were bragging to all who would listen that they had been in the business for 30+ years. I told them that being in the business so long, they knew that (a) they could print new menus or (b) put a sticker over the price that says MP (market price).
NEVER in any restaurant that I have eaten in--NYC, London, Paris...--have I been told that the price on the menu was not the real price. One wonders for whom they change the prices? By age? By.....
Also, as another reviewer said, funny how they "forget" to bring all the things you should get in your order.
Avoid this place at all costs.More
What used to be a classic grille turned into an overpriced, pretentious establishment with poor service and equally terrible food. Gone is the tuna fish sandwich replaced by some croissant concoction that was soggy and inedible. The chicken fingers were so raw they may as...welll have had feathers on them. The waiter could have been contemplating an existential crisis for the time it took to write down the order. We could have walked to and rode half the rides on Moreys Pier by the time the food came. This used to be our favorite place to go and it’s not even a shadow of its former self - it’s a reinvented mockery that should be bypassed at all costs. Add to this the cacophony of what some might dare to call music and the growing mold around the staircase, it’s a wonder they manage to stay open.More
Disappointed in new chef & management. Gave them several tries- I completely understand staffing issues and labor pains due to current situation but not the issue. Charged extra $2 for average, mediocre crab cake sandwich. $19 for a sandwich that was nothing special. Had to...ask for sauce and coleslaw. Several days of our stay - out of stock on Italian ice- really?? Lids don’t fit Cups and they apologize every time as you walk away & spill your drink. Cups must be free since advertise another restaurant. This is located in our hotel with takeout window at pool so hard to avoid but realize today that Wawa is on door dash!!! Sad because have frequented this establishment for years, even last year during Covid no complaints- always a pleasure but this year new management and new menu- disappointing.More
Cathy is an amazing waitress. We had so many unusual requests and she went above and beyond to make everything perfect. Great food, and while it is pricier than at home, it’s MUCH cheaper than anything of this quality on the boardwalk. Omelette are all...great and have a glorious morning muffin! They have amazing outdoor dining views of the ocean and it’s covered in case of bad weather you can still get outside.More
The minute you get to the entrance you notice every single one of the Staff are smiling. The gentleman who seated us smiled the whole time til we got to our seat. The place was jumping and lots of happy people eating breakfast. I had...an egg white omelet, a gigantic helping! Sis had eggs served on English muffin and so much hash browns. We left very happy and full before hitting the road home. I truly believe the staff is a reflection of the owners! Great job !!More
This restaurant has a great ocean view . We enjoyed our breakfast but was disappointed they removed the Stuffed French Toast with strawberries. Most people in my group came for that item . Hopefully other locals will bring this to the new owners attention.
If you are looking for a hidden gem in Wildwood, the Royal Grille is run by seasoned veterans of the Shore scene. The highlight of the dinner was the crab cake sandwich--fresh and delicious without a lot of bread fillers. The burger was made with...high-quality beef. But... save room for the peanut butter "pie"--a combination of graham cracker crust, peanut butter and cream cheese, with an amazing chocolate ganache topping. This restaurant is well worth the trip.More
The Royal Grill doesn't do much to make itself known, and maybe it prefers to fly under the radar. If that's the case I hope it doesn't mind me shining a light on it for a few paragraphs.
The first time we ate here was...due to convenience- we were staying at the Port Royal and didn't want to travel far for breakfast. We ended up loving it so much it's now become part of our regular breakfast rotation, even when not staying at the connected hotel. It offers the rare Wildwood combination of a great meal at a decent price- what we paid for our typical breakfast meals was less than some of our other favorites. This was a surprise considering the Port Royal is one of the island's most expensive properties.
Combine those two attributes with an attentive staff and beautiful beachfront views (if it's a nice day, try sitting outside- don't worry, you'll still be covered from the elements) the Royal Grill has become something we anticipate when arriving in Wildwood.More
