It seems this restaurant is in a class by itself and does not fit in Whiting. People of this area like to save money when eating out. Sure the decor is very nice and makes you feel like the good ol' days but the check brings you right back to today's high prices.

En route to Cape May, NJ, my daughter and I stopped here on a whim for breakfast... What a great decision.
The decor was 50s and the radio was tuned to a satellite radio 50s station. Our server, Nicole, was quick, friendly and funny and maintained her composure despite being the only one dealing with the 'morning crowd'. Our food was delicious and the bacon came out as crisp as I had ordered it (so many breakfast places fail on this point).
When I am in that area again and I need a great meal at a great price with great service and value, I know where I'm going (added bonus: 10% military discount)

went for a simple dinner with grandkids, actually 3rd time going. I should have remembered, food came out different times and cold, cheese steak came with nothing but pickle even though wait staff said it came with fries and very little meat. Broccoli /cheese omelet dried out tasted like butter or something was spoiled, my grandsons breakfast platter had reheated scrambled eggs, dead sausage, pancakes you needed a knife to cut, charged additional .75 for cheese on 'cheese steak on their menu, go figure! and additional .75 again for cheese on my omelet when menu give prices specifically for those 2 named items. Hash came out looking like a freesbie dry awful, waitress knew nothing about the menu and didn't bother to get help when asked a question, she winged it!! it was horrible first two times I will remember not to go back! when next store not know Ice Cream was related, got small cup for Baby, it had maybe 3 tablespoons of ice cream, I asked what is this, she said small cup 3 scoops that was not even equivalent to 1! I left it and walked out.
As I was very leaving I realized they are still in business do to VERY FEW places in that area, and not to disrespectful but majority of clientele if not all were way over 70!!

Great way to start my day on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Great variety of breakfast foods, delicious omelets, (chili omelet is my favorite). perfect pork roll, egg & cheese on a hard roll. Lunch menu also offers a wide variety from which to choose. Servers are friendly and efficient. Have been eating at FlashBack since they opened. Never disappointed.

This place has the best bread. It's good enough to buy for Sunday Macaroni Day. I made garlic bread with it.
This time I bought a 1/2 Roast Beef Sub. It was huge!! I ate it in 3 stages. I like my subs with oil and a little bit of vinegar, then mayo, on the heavy side, lettuce, onions and tomatoes. Topped off with hot peppers.

Being new to the area once we saw this establishment we were anxious to try it. We were impressed with the small military display in the entryway, the decor and background music. When I ordered my omelet I asked if they would substitute a slice of tomato for the homefries, as most diners do.The server said yes, of course. I was surprised when I was charged $1 for a slice of tomato, no homefries. I was also surprised with my western omelet. The peppers were canned, not fresh. My companion ordered the special, cream chipped beef. He enjoyed the flavor, but the portion was very small, about 1/2 cup. It didn't come close to covering the toast. We visit a nearby pharmacy about once a month, with so many good reviews maybe we'll try again.

Monday night, February 11th, 2019, entered about 4:45 pm. We're two 55+ adults, my wife with a cane.
Martucci's Flashback Diner has a 1950's-theme, menu, and music. The unexpectedly-spacious and brightly-lit interior features a dozen soft-seated booths, some tables, and a dining counter. It is tucked in the strip mall behind a Wendy's, on New Egypt Road south off of NJ Route 70 just east of the Mile 38 marker (address is 400 Lacey Road).
This was our first visit, on a wander. Total check for sodas, soup, dinners (with two sides each), and desserts for two was $40.22 plus tip (military would get a 10% discount). I had the roast turkey with potato salad and battered onion rings, which I rated as pretty good for a diner (the turkey tasted fine, the potato salad was above average, and the onion rings were perfect, not at all greasy). My wife's breaded pork chops (which I sampled) plus mashed potatoes and onion rings more than filled her (hers was a special that came with an oreo cookie cake dessert, which we took home along with an apple pie dessert for me). My tomato soup (a bowl) was very good, and her cup of butternut squash soup was even better. We didn't sample the shakes and malts (this time!) that Martucci's highly features.
We had our drinks nearly immediately. Our server, Emily, was very attentive and usually accompanied by another server. Service was prompt, but we were not rushed in the slightest.
Amenities: The diner does on-line ordering and carry-out. The restrooms are singles but large and with hand-rails inside (although a wheelchair might have some difficulty at the no-steps but two-doors front entrance).
Overall impression: Recommended as a fun place to unwind from the road. As we're fairly nearby in Leisuretowne, we'll be repeat customers.

A good diner with what you would expect from a diner. Music was "flashback" appropriate. Food was priced right and portions were ample. Service was extra-ordinary. There were 4 servers and each of them greeted us, more than one made sure we were happy, more than one filled our coffee without us asking. All were very nice, friendly, smiling. Usually this points to management that knows how to treat its people. Place was immaculate with no old grease smell when you entered. BUT BUT BUT the thing that put it over the top for us was the most beautiful tribute to our military. When you enter look for the soldiers and read what you are asked to do. This was awesome in the time of our nation being scrutinized for every word we say and deed we do that this little unassuming place would make our hearts smile upon entering their domain. Bravo and continued success. You are what America truly is.

A completely unassuming restaurant -- located in a strip mall -- but as soon as you step in, you're so glad you found it. Decorated as a throwback to a 50's-style diner, it has a typical diner menu (with an extensive milkshake list!), and a totally cute atmosphere. Food is good, and the staff is so incredibly kind and attentive. Lots of little details that make it extra-special.
We stopped here before our visit to Popcorn Park Zoo, and highly recommend for any others visiting the area -- it's only about a 10 minute drive (or less) from the zoo.

I really liked this diner. The place is clean, service was very good and the food was good.
To get a rating of 5, here’s what they need to do:
Throw away all of the forks in the diner and purchase better ones. The fork actually hurt my hand while using it.
Tell the chef you’re not supposed to beat pancake batter for a long time - it results in tough pancakes.
I’d definitely go back.

Like it's name, this strip mall diner is a Flashback to the 50's. Bright colors, Coca-Cola memorabilia, 50's music, you get the idea.
We were there for breakfast. Our order included pancakes and a pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich and hash brown. the Hash brown was greasy, but the sandwich was good, great quality Kaiser roll (which you buy at the bakery counter). Pancakes were okay. Portions were average, prices were average. The waitresses were great, polite and attentive.
Overall it was a good mean. We would return again.
