Small space but incredible combinations and each appetizer enough to share. Sushi fresh and very well presented. Beef negimaki delicious too! As a byob very reasonable and not rushed by staff. Plan to try the take out too.

My friend has been wanting to come to this place for dinner. So when I suggested a night out, this place was our choice. I also checked online and knew that the reviews on this restaurant has been positive. Overall, our meal was good. For...appetizers, I had the fried tofu with dashi powder. To be frank, I was a bit disappointed. The tofu was cut in small cubes and deep fried. Then some soy sauce was dribbled on top of it with some bonita powder (bonita is very common in Japanese cooking. It's also called wood fish). I found this plate was not very satisfying. Tofu is a very blend food and it really requires a lot of skills to make tofu tasty. In the future, this is a dish I will not be ordering. On the other hand, the sushi sashimi boat for 2 we ordered was wonderful. It was an eye catcher. When the food was served, we received a lot of comments and attentions from the neighboring table. We are two guys we really can eat and we finished the whole thing. The fish was fresh and tasty. We really liked it. This place is small and I can see that some of the patrons were on dates. The place does give some intimate feeling. Food is a three star -- meets expectation. I would have given a four had the tofu been great. Service is a three star -- meets expectation. The staffs are very pleasant though they don't speak much English, but enough to take your order and bring you food. Value is a three star -- meets expectation. For the freshness I tasted, I find what they charge to be acceptable. Overall, a three star experience. In the future, skip the tofu.More

Located within easy reach of the city and the Parkway, Kyoto II offers good food and service in a small and warm atmosphere. They are a BYOB place, but there is a great liquor store just across the street. They have a wonderful sushi menu...and other typical non-sushi items as well.More

You can order "out" on line via their website or BYOB and have a nice cozy dinner at the tables or the traditional Sushi Bar Seating. The options are endless and we have never had a less than excellent piece of sushi, Salad, Soup or...vegetable- This value is very good- and the sushi chefs are very appreciative that you choose to dine with them (leave them a dollar tip and they will thank you profusely). The waitresses are all so sweet- there are even a few young helpers that work the register on occasion and they are very bright and cheerful. We have ordered out and eaten there numerous times and have never been disappointed.More

I love this place. I go any chance I can. The service is fast and friendly. I always get on the house appetizers from the sushi chefs for sitting at the bar. From the rolls to the sushi to the hibachi, everything is great.

The service and food are delicious but every time I go there on my lunch hour there is a man who drinks an entire bottle of wine and gets drunk and loud. The men making the sushi seem to enjoy his company, but he is...very annoying when you are trying to have a conversation with someone else. The last five times I have gone there the drunk man was there and loud. I won't go back.More

My fiancé said to me one night that he wanted to have sashimi for dinner. We were in the vicinity of 5 Points and so I suggested Kyoto II to him although I have never been there before. I had read a review online that...mentioned BYOB so I called the restaurant to confirm this. They did, and in less than 10 minutes after my call, we were walking through the door with a bottle of Pinot Grigio in hand! It is a cozy establishment, and very nicely decorated. The menu was very well written and easy to understand. I am not a fan of miso soup, and I had recently been to a different Japanese restaurant where I had a very disappointing chicken soup, so I was hesitant to order any of the soups in the menu. I asked our lovely waitress about the "clear soup with crunchy onion and scallion". She confirmed that there was no miso in the soup, so I gave it a try. I am so happy that I finally found a delicious soup in a Japanese restaurant!! It was so good!!! I would highly recommend that they supply this soup to the 2 Japanese restaurants that I had previously dined at in Middlesex county. Or maybe they should just keep this secret all to themselves! My fiancé ordered a sashimi dinner and the presentation was so nice and the fish was very fresh! I ordered the Yaki Udon with chicken and it blew me away! Highly highly recommend Kyoto II in Union, NJ ... A very nice place for a wonderful meal and excellent service ... どうもありがとうMore

I highly recommend if you are in Union or nearby do not take my word for it,...try it. They also have a wide variety of rolls .. so be open to their different rolls.. all of them that I have tried are very good. Kyoto II is a nice, small, local/neighborhood restaurant. Due to its size and proximity to a nearby university it can get busy, especially on the weekends. The menu provides a pretty good selection and is reasonably priced. The food has been fresh every time I've...gone, and we go often as its within walking distance of home and also convenient for pick up on the way home.More

We stopped there before my flight back to Europe from EWR, its about 15 min away. The quality of the food is very good and the fresh Mackerel (from Japan) Sashimi we had, which is a special and not on the menu, was just amazing....People are very friendly in there. It's clean. But since it is NJ you may have to bring your own Sake from the liquor store across the street. I definitely will be back next time. Thank you!More
