The place was immaculately clean when we walked in and were seated immediately (good start). The menus are robust but we went strictly for breakfast dishes. Had their buttermilk pancakes and sausage (great choice-pancakes very moist) and the combo omelet . Food was fresh and reasonably priced! Comfortable booths and pleasant serve staff.

Good diner!

This diner, with booths & tables & a parking lot, has huge portions. Be prepared to spend a little time checking out their extensive menu. I like that they had a choice of matzo ball soup, which you don't always see. Based on a recommendation from Giselle, our outstanding & super friendly waitress, we ordered the baklava cheesecake for dessert - WOW & YUM! We'd go back, the next time we are in the area in NJ.

Great Gigantic portions

Humongous portions ! Food was hot & fresh Waiter was very friendly and helpful. I got the chicken francese with bowtie pasta. which came with 4 chicken cutlet Very delicious. For desert I ate half of my strawberry cheese cake. Place is old school Greek owned with 1950’s music and very clean. I will go back !

Best Beef Dip I've ever Had!

Moved from NJ in 2000 to Texas and was visiting friends and wanted some 'diner' food - Had the Beef Dip which was perfect - Included slaw and soup for around $17.50 and the portions were huge - Sandwich was the best as well grilled roll and two thirds meat! Great ratio - Their desert counter was a wonderful sight and a easy sale for me - I will go back to this place as really nice and greatly missed -

Best Diner Ever!!!

We have been going to Huck Finn Diner since 1998-we love their service, staff and owners- what a great place to eat! Breakfast is my favorite then burgers. Their salad bar is the freshest I’ve ever seen and it’s constantly being serviced - go there I strongly recommend it!!

Great salad bar during lunch

Huck Finn has the typical extensive Jersey diner menu, but their lunch special menu is a better deal than most others. It includes a fantastic salad bar as well as soup and coffee. The food is very good..

Lunch is huge value

lunch specials (many, many options) start at $9.95 and include a bowl of soup made in-house (split pea was delicious), unlimited servings at a good salad bar, a main course with a generous portion size and a cup of coffee (interestingly, just coffee or tea, but no so drink). food quality was excellent, service great and the price was definitely on point!

FIrst Visit, We will Return

Friends and I went to Huck Finn for Sunday breakfast. The specials menu almost changed our minds. The dishes looked good and prices were reasonable and included a fairly extensive salad bar. However, we did want breakfast. Breakfast was diner good. Service, however, was a bit slow. All in all, we were all happy with what we had and the cost was reasonable.

Good food, service a little hectic

While the service was not as good as we expected, I did find out later than only three of the seven scheduled servers showed up when we visited, which is why I improved the service rating to average. Huck Finn is a large dinner with a very large menu, and it has a liquor license, so I was able to start off with an inexpensive, but drinkable chardonnay. I then proceeded to the salad bar where I had a lot of veggie choices, along with some cheeses and legumes. The meal continued with matzoh ball soup. While not as good as my mom's (of course, I had to say that!), the matzoh ball was still pretty good, and I appreciated the fact that the soup was not too salty. For my main course, I had the chicken parm, served with a good sized side of penne pasta with tomato sauce. The chicken parm itself consisted of two large breaded chicken breasts, served with mozzeralla cheese and more sauce. I was pretty happy, but the chicken was a tiny bit dry. I only finished about half, and had the rest for dinner the next night. Finally, I had a large slice of seven layer cake that I shared at home, with my wife. The cake was good, and I liked the icing. I think we got our money's worth.

Great Diner

We hadn’t been here in a few years, but today we were in the area and stopped by for lunch. We are glad we did. They had a Lunch Special ; lunch basket, Running from 11 to 3. We opted for that. My wife had fried shrimp, while I had fish and chips. Each meal also included fries, soup and salad bar; quite a good deal at $9.95! service was very good too. We will definitely be back.

The staff at Huck Finn are always friendly but not intrusive. The food is always cooked fresh, and the Salad Bar is well worth visiting. Either add it to you mean or eat from there alone. The choice is very good.

This is our favorite family diner. Food is good, great service and the price is right.My kids love their side dish pasta salad. I love their breakfast selection and deluxe hamburger.

Too bad!

I’m sorry to say I cannot go to this diner, and it’s a shame because it is within walking distance of my house. I have actually been there several times, but every time I went there, I had an intestinal disorder later in the day before my next meal. I enjoyed the food while I was there, but I didn’t enjoy the after effects. I have no idea what caused it, but after maybe 5 visits with the same results, it’s off my list.

Great NJ Diner

I guess I’ve been to one too many diners that haven’t lived up to our high NJ standards for a diner. Say what you will about NJ but we have the best diners! (That may be more true in north Jersey.) Huck Finn is exactly what I expect from a good diner. Good food, good service, good prices and liquor! I had a breakfast - and no alcohol - but I’ll bet the rest of the menu is just as good. Located close to the Garden State Parkway and easy to find, there’s plenty of parking - ideal for your trip back from the shore. Sure, it doesn’t have the personality of the Summit Diner or the size of the Tick Tock Diner. Still, a good choice if you’re hungry and in the area.
