We've been going here for years. It's had it's ups and downs but overall we love coming here. Of late, it has really been top notch. Thank you to the service staff who have been very good. Food has been excellent and consistent.

Last I was there was in 2014 and I could see the imporvement in the food this time around. Eight years ago the food was just average and sometimes sub-par but I was pleasantly surprised when we stopped in without reservations and initially they said...there would be an hour wait but after a few minutes a hostess sat us out in their biergarten at a very comfy table after just 10 minutes. we shared a chicken schnitzel that was surpsingly moist and tasty, the chicken gyoza (my favorite), and a WOOD-GRILLED SIRLOIN BURGER - juicy and tasty. The bartendar actually brought our drinks out to our table outside then followed up with additional drinks about 15 minutes later. Our server was just OK and seemed stressed with a full house of people bith inside and outside. Overall. the food was much improved, the visit there was memorable and I would certainly returnMore

Our first and last visit to St. Moritz in Sparta, NJ almost defies the imagination. My husband and I arrived at 11:50 AM, fully aware that they opened at 12 Noon. The sign on the front door to the restaurant directed us to the hostess...at the open air Biergarten to the right of the restaurant. Several of the outdoor tables had people sitting there chitchatting. We walked toward the hostess stand just to check out the menu, and a frantic man came out from the restaurant, got in our faces , and kept saying over and over to us “We’re not open yet!! I didn’t even seat these people and they took it upon themselves to sit out here, we have a lot of reservations! We’re NOT OPEN yet!!” He was so unhinged, but we were polite and said to him that we knew we were early and we were fine waiting another ten minutes. He ran back into the restaurant. Since it was rather hot out, I sat in one of the unoccupied chairs while my husband stood on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. A few minutes later, the man came out with a woman, and she had her arms crossed in front of her, and she glared at me while he continued this outrageously insane tirade that they don’t open until 12:00, and they have reservations. I said to him that I didn’t understand what he wanted from me… Did he want me to call in a reservation or did he want me to stand on the sidewalk? He didn’t even bother to answer and went back into the restaurant with his equally whacked out hostess. The other patrons sitting at other tables were speechless. Of course, I would never patronize any place where the introduction/welcome is provided by someone who has no respect, comes across as deranged, and clearly doesn’t belong in the Hospitality business. What a breath of fresh air it was to go to another establishment, and be greeted warmly , and valued as a customer. This story will be fun to tell all my friends and family, and anyone who will listen, so that they can avoid St. Moritz like the plague.More

We visited for a Saturday evening dinner and waited about 10 minutes for our reserved table. Both the loud bar and dining areas were crowded and parking was challenging. I felt that the menu selections were limited, but enjoyed my Glazed Salmon with orzo and...broccoli. My spouse was disappointed with her Corned Beef and Cabbage off of the specials menu. The Stove Pipe Chopped Salad was delicious. Our friends liked the Potato soup so much that they ordered a second bowl! The bread was extremely salty. They offer a wide variety of beers, premium cocktails, aperitifs and cordials. Efficient service. It’s a good place for a night out in Lake Mohawk.More

My sister and I visited the St. Moritz by checking out TripAdvisor's reviews and by the location. The quaint little town is on a lake and makes for a nice evening. The restaurant itself was a nice casual establishment with great drinks and good food....We loved their sticky sweet and spicy calamari and burgers. They even have an outdoor area which we opted not to sit that night as it was getting a bit cool out but there were plenty of people out there. I would recommend this place and I am looking forward to eating there again.More

Shout out to St. Moritz management and team. My husband and I were talking about the challenges the hospitality industry has faced, and I feel St. Moritz has really risen to the challenge in recent months. We're local and have eaten here outdoors 3 times...in September and October. Staff has been friendly, communicative (much easier to deal with food & drink delays, though overall that's been good too) and professional. Makes a big difference in the overall experience. Not sure what they've done (new training?) but its working and honestly I think they are even better than pre-pandemic in the staffing department. We've always been pleased with the food. Seem to also be taking some creative approaches to making sure they have adequate staff and a good working environment.More

The pros, the server was sweet & attentive…and the burger was good, but the cons were many…one and only steak on the menu and it was crappy….and they even screwed up the mashed potatoes! (Seriously, how does a restaurant screw up mashed potatoes?? Peel &...boil potatoes, drain water, add butter, salt & pepper….some heavy cream and garlic even…but this place must’ve just smashed up half boiled potatoes and served them as a side!) The manager was abrasive with staff, which did not sit well with us. The majority of the menu was seafood with some boring chicken & pork….not even a decent non-seafood appetizer! Such a total bummer & a waste of money! Not only didn’t they serve bread & butter, but there wasn’t even an option to buy some on or off menu. The menu wording may be fancy, but I guarantee what you’re being served is not. What I cook at home on a basic day tastes better than anything we ordered here…so that’s pretty sad. Dinner here was a big disappointment. I LOVE not to ‘have to cook,’ but this place made my taste buds wish we had just stayed home. We’ll be sticking with Mohawk House in the future!More

As a manager, you should be hospitable and calm, not aggressive. Violence and threats should be the last resort. Mislead a customer instead of admitting your mistake is something that should never happen in a professional setting, much less in a restaurant where customers and...workers relationship drives the business.More

St. Moritz Grill & Bar Sparta Bartender over reach 776114021 Wife and I went to bar. My wife was talking about with other couple near us. They were in agreement with her. Only one other couple at bar. The bartenders ( male and female) did...not like our discussion. The male bartender came over and said our discussion of was not permitted at bar. He said it was policy. Show us the policy. Oh it’s unwritten. It’s none of bartenders business what we discuss at bar as long as it is not disruptive or crude. I requested manager. Got the bartender/manager. Told him I wanted General Manager. They went back and huddled and finally GM came out GM called me into foyer. I reviewed issue. He said not policy. I said we were not arguing but were told what we could talk about at bar. He said would address with bartender. Sure This is America - we can talk about whatever we want especially at a bar. As long as things are civil they should be acceptable. A fun chat interrupted by a bartender-don’t accept this AmericaMore

Nice outdoor seating area, feels private despite being flanked by streets on 2 sides. Had an amazing scallop entree! Varied and creative dishes. A bit pricey overall, so it's a treat.

I enjoyed the special seasonal sausages, but unfortunately thats where my positive comments end.  Oh, the glazed salmon was good, but not much to eat for the price.  My sausages represented a good portion, but there was hardly any sauerkraut and not much spaetzle either.  We started...with the potato pancake which was very disappointing, no flavor.  Too often restaurants in 'quaint' tourist areas like this small spot on the shore of a lake do not live up to their setting. This was the case on our visit.More
