This was our first visit here and we can’t wait to go back! We stopped for lunch with a toddler and we were all so pleased with the prompt and friendly service and delicious and fresh food! The burger was made to perfection and onion rings as a side did not have an up charge! The grilled veggie wrap was delicious and fresh with sweet potatoes fries (again with no up charge) the tuna melt was tasty and fresh and the child’s grilled cheese with fries was not skimpy and had an abundance of white American cheese and served with fries! Very reasonable priced and located in historic Smithville near the carousel! Highly recommend this quaint and cozy place!

Great service !!! My husband order a cheeseburger and he said it was great tasting. I ordered chicken tenders and tater tots. The tenders were huge and nice and hot and crispy so we’re those tots. Great people working there. Very clean.

My husband and I went here for lunch. I ordered a chicken salad wrap with onion rings and my husband got the chicken avocado wrap with French fries and we shared. Everything was so delicious! The wraps were just out of this world. Stuffed, freshly made and delicious. The place was clean and the the ladies working there were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend if you’re in the area. If I’m ever back that way I’ll definitely be stopping there again.

Another one star review for Lakeside Grill. My 96-year-old mother and I travel 25 minutes to eat at Lakeside Grill in Smithville every week. We eat on various days and infrequent times so virtually all of the staff knows us to some degree. With the exception of James, as I struggle to bring her wheelchair into the small cafe none of the staff ever help hold the door open even when we are the only customers that morning. I would struggle with one hand pushing open the door and the other pulling the wheelchair while they watched. Today, September 4, 2024, for the first time she ordered crab cake benedict which at $16.99 is probably the most expensive breakfast item. The crab cake was so overcooked that it was crunchy. Of the two eggs she took a bite or two of one or about 25% of the entire meal. The other egg was untouched. She politely explained to the waitress that it "just didn't taste right" (she's had eggs benedict before) and asked for an order of chicken tenders in its place. This is her usual fare. When the check arrived, we were charged full price for everything: $49.80 for two people. This didn't set well with us. When she complained to the unsympathetic waitress she was basically told, "Well, you ate half of it." After several minutes she was offered 20% off the entire meal or $9.96. She wasn't pleased because most restaurants would give a full refund if you're not satisfied. Another waitress, who seemed to have more seniority, offered to call the owner. After waiting several more minutes, she returned again (lying) that my mother ate "half the meal", and the best the owner could do was offer 50% off the crab cake benedict or now a lower $8.50 refund. Already disgusted, rather than finish her meal my mother put her food in a to go box, and we left a cash tip on the table and left. The restaurant was getting busy, and a customer helped us with the door. After all of this the waitresses couldn't provide a little additional customer service and hold the door open for us. Needless to say, Lakeside Grill lost a steady customer who frequently tipped around 30%.

I had the crab cake appetizer on lettuce with sliced tomato because I didn’t want the bun. It was generous and delicious. My daughter got the California cheeseburger which was fantastic! The only reason I take one star off is because the bacon was not crispy, it was not freshly cooked, seemed reheated, so the texture was off but still good. This is covid times so everything was to go. It was ready and well packaged with everything we needed, at the time they told us to come back (15 minutes on a Saturday afternoon which is impressive). We were on our own to find a place to eat outside but we got lucky there. We asked a nice couple if we could sit on the other side of a picnic table they were resting at, and they kindly said yes. They looked at what were eating and I think they went to Lakeside Grill for lunch too! Good service and reasonable prices. Would have been 5 stars with freshly cooked bacon, so it’s really 4.5 stars :) I will definitely be back if I’m looking for lunch in the area.

Made our annual Presidents Day stay to Smithville (stayed at the Colonial Inn for 3 nights) and was pleasantly surprised to see that a new restaurant opened since our last stay last February, the Lakeside Grill. Food is AMAZING! Very big portions and reasonably priced for the portion size you receive. We ate there 2 mornings in a row (did take out and ate in our room). The breakfast wraps are so stuffed with whatever you order inside, that I personally could only eat half and was so full afterwards needed to take a nap!!! Eggs Benedict is done PERFECTLY and I'm a huge Eggs Benedict snob, hard to find one that is done to perfection. Glad to see there is another option for breakfast other than the bakery. Can't wait to go back for a day trip and try lunch or dinner.

Best lunch in Historic Smithville area. High quality ingredients- we had the Reuben with side of sautéed spinach and Turkey Avocado wrap with side of sweet potato fries. Absolutely delicious and plentiful servings. Highly recommend!

What a great lunch. We had the Jersey Devil burger and the Crab Cake sandwich. Both came on soft rolls. We ordered the sweet potato fries as a side. Wow!!! As busy as they were the food was fresh and very nicely done. The fries were the best!! Very small place. Staff very accommodating. Clean. I saw a lot of take out. It gets loud in there. It’s a very small place. I really never expected the quality of food from such a small grill. My last visit was at another restaurant in the Village. It was horrible. So this was a very pleasant surprise.

Cute little place with excellent food. We got a lobster roll and Reuben sandwiches that were just incredibly delicious. And by the way the ladies that are running the place there were friendly and helpful and provided outstanding service. We will certainly be back

Tiny but scrumptious! This is located in Smithville Village, and is a tiny cafe with only a few tables, but we've been twice now, and never had to wait. The food is delicious, and the service is quick. Prices are decent too!

Over the bridge and tucked around the corner is this great little restaurant! We stopped in for breakfast before the start of the Irish Festival and were pleasantly surprised with our meals! I had the Berries and Banana French toast, the husband had Eggs Benedict with home fries and my son a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with home fries. All of us were pleased and we all agreed they have the most wonderful perfectly cooked & seasoned home fries! Coffee was great, iced tea and oj came in bottles.

Our service was excellent. The waitress was more than attentive. We only left there a few minutes ago and are still talking about just how good the food was. The hamburgers are made to order and are very flavorful. Very large buns too. The lobster roll was excellent as well. The roll was over flowing with the lobster salad. I had a honey mustard wrap which was very full and tasty. The slaw was exactly how I like, not to sweet. We highly recommend this restaurant to all of you traveling to Smithville Historic Site in New Jersey. You won't be disappointed. We were there in August of 2021.
