Meal was good. Prices were cheap. Music venue rocks! The New England Clam Chowder is worth getting in a bread bowl for future notice.

The bar area has a restaurant with tables and booths for dining. The food is OK, Hubby loves the clam chowder, and since we live close by, will pick up for take out or stop in for a quick burger, salad or sandwich. This restaurant used to be very nice "in the day", but the focus now is the bar.

Tried dinner here recently and I doubt we will be back Food was greasy, waiter less than attentive, and while the musician was setting up, the competing noise was brutally annoying. We have been coming here for years, but doubt we will return. Guess it's time to find a new burger, salad and beer joint

We stopped by Gateway after dinner elsewhere to grab a drink and listen to Chris Fitz play. Good service and venue for a local band. The bartenders are friendly and attentive.

I stopped in during my annual trip to LBI. It was a Saturday night and the musical performer was just setting up. There was a little bit of confusion at first as to who's station I was at so it took a while for someone to come over. However, once that was cleared up the service was outstanding. On Saturday... The New England clam chowder is a must if you stop at The Gateway. It is the only thing that keeps us going back. The other food is subpar compared to the chowder and sushi. The prices are a little on the high side for the quality. The staff is very good too.

We stopped at the Gateway Restaurant tonight on our way off the island (LBI) to pick up chowder for my mom at home. Trying to "eat healthy", I ordered the broiled seafood platter. Everything seemed fresh, but very bland. The chowder, on the other hand, phenomenal! My advise, get the chowder.

Another "landmark on LBI. Atmosphere never been good. Bar and food are fair. A summer spot . 3 times over several years for dinner, with never a real improvement in food quality.

You've probably driven past the place on your way off LBI. Next time, stop, order the chowder, sip one of the crafts on tap, and enjoy both! Don't expect crowded teen-age bathing suit clad patrons: an adult place if I ever saw one.

Their New England Clam Chowder rocks! Try it in a bread bowl, it is so good. Thickest ever, and almost Cheesy.... Manhattan is pretty good too. Although the atmosphere is more of a tavern, they have a nice dining area, and also have take out. It's a great treat for ordering prior to leaving the island and picking up on... More
