Took a chance and drove out there about 45 minutes from our home. Since it’s New Jersey outside dining was required, we were seated immediately, for lunch, had a wonderful waiter who is quick to respond and attentive to our requests. We ordered drinks which...were served promptly, and placed our lunch order.I’m not gonna bother commenting on what we ordered I will just say we were extremely satisfied, the meals are prepared as requested. And of course we got lucky because thunderstorms with threatening all around us. They did advise us that if it storms before meals were served it would be no issue with us leaving and only paying for what we had but if the meals were served they had to go boxes handy in case we needed them to escape the rain.Fortunately it did not rain we enjoyed our meal and returned home and we will certainly be backMore

Not worth the $80 for sure. I had been wanting to come to this spot for a while and unfortunately was disappointed. Won't be back.

Had reservation for three at 6pm on a Tuesday night. There are a few people at bar and restaurant mostly open so we were seated promptly and they accommodated a late addition to party. Part of all you can eat snow crab routine. Bread was...fresh and focused on crabs which were excellent. Service was outstanding as our waitresses kept up with our voracious appetite. Also had one order of Chicken piccata which was good but chicken was slightly rubbery. Overall great time, nice atmosphere with large fireplace and high ceilings in open dining area.More

Shamong is right up next to the Pine Barrens in Southern NJ. For a guy who eats a lot of good meals with friends and clients in NYC and Philly, it seems odd to find such a great place there. I live just west of...Shamong in Medford, NJ and dine at "La Camp" 12-15 times a year. I often eat the seafood or pasta and always find it fresh, not over-prepared, and delicious. Last night I tried the pork chop for the first time and it was excellent. The pork was served in an herb sauce with sliced apples and was prepared to exactly the level I ordered (medium). I enjoy Italian wine and they have a sensible variety with a very light mark-up. Last night my wife and I had a very good Brunello from 2013 for a price I would normally see at retail. I have also visited for drinks and apps with friends followed by dancing to live music in the large bar area. I consider myself lucky to have a fun, casual, and tasty option so close to home.More

We have dined at La Campagnola many times, but our most recent experience was for Christmas Eve dinner. Reservations were required, as the available seating quickly filled up for large family parties. La Campagnola features a limited but special menu on Christmas Eve, and the...dishes we had were outstanding. One was called "Oceans Gardens", sauteed Scallops and Shrimp in a vodka cream sauce over capellini, with hints of fresh spinach added. The traditional Christmas Eve Italian dish was Seven Fishes - Fried Calamari, Mussels, Clams Casino, Scallops, Crab Meat, Cod and Shrimp, with a sampling of mixed vegetables. Each fish was cooked perfectly, and the portions were just right - not too big, not too small. LC also featured several specialty drinks, and the Apple Cider Mojito was delightfully refreshing.More

Not a lot of options for vegetarians, other than somewhat standard pasta variations. Good service, pleasant outdoor seating (the piped-in music indoors might have gotten in the way of conversation. The best, lightest white bread, from their kitchen, I've ever had-- an odd meal highlight,...I guess, but it was memorable.More

I come to this restaurant at least twice a month; they have a variety of options on the menu, from bar food to upscale Italian dining. My only warning is that the red sauce is highly acidic, meaning that if you are like me, you...will need to stock up on antacids. The vodka sauce, however, does not give me heartburn and is a safe alternative to the red sauce.More

Based on the excellent reviews we were excited to try LaCampangola. We visited on a Sunday evening and were asked if we had reservations. We did not but were seated immediately in the main dining room. Our server was efficient...not overly friendly or accommodating but...just okay. I asked for a cup of the “She Crab” soup listed on the menu and was told they did not have it but were offering a roasted pepper crab soup. It was fairly flavorful but I would have preferred the standard “She Crab” instead. My husband orders chicken parm almost every time we visit an Italian restaurant and tonight was no different. It is described on the menu as their best seller and “considered by many as The Best They Have Ever Had.” My husband enjoyed it....he said it was a little tough in spots and unfortunately was not the best he’s ever had. I chose the chicken Marsala. It was very good. We finished with the mixed berry cobbler topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was absolutely delicious!! The servings are very generous and you certainly won’t leave hungry. Overall, we liked LaCampangnola and would probably return.More
