We stopped here during a trip with family and we were surprised by the ambience and details of tables and chairs.
The waiters brought us warm nachos with nice sauces and a great guacamole prepared fresh under our eyes.
Then the fish Ceviche, the Texan burrito and the meat were absolutely great!
Fresh Churros with chocolate, honey and ice cream completed the lunch.
Service is fast and kind!
Thanks for the great experience!!!

Riviera never disappoints. Every item is wonderful, staff accommodating and kind. Waiting for a table is sometimes like playing Twister as there simply isn't enough room for everyone trying to get a table but well worth the wait. Love the fresh interesting ingredients and margaritas. Been there at least 30 times and never had a bad meal.

Riviera Maya Rockaway is BY FAR THR BEST Mexican you can get that mixes American and true Latin dishes. I have been eating there for YEARS AND YEARS… meanwhile trying other places around the state and getting up and walking out in food that was supposedly ranked super high and I couldn’t stomach it! Even the absolute traditional Mexican dishes out taste the small family owned joints to get “real” Mexican food. The atmosphere is top notch, tons of easy parking space, great atmosphere for bar and tables, friendly service. The only things they don’t include on their menus are some other very exclusive Latino items you’re only going to find in a heavy Hispanic neighborhood… like tortas, not American tacos but mexican style, find meats including lingua. I also don’t recall if they serve horchata on thr menu. Other than that, riviera tops even the beat family passed Hispanic neighborhood joints…. Even the home made salsa and mole. I’ve tried commercial Mexican. NOTHING COMPARES, and plus the pricing is DEFINITELY REASONABLE!! I pay more from private Mexican joints and it’s not as good! I only eat here unless I head to Dover for the Hispanic secrets of things like authentic tortas, tacos… and the authentic types of meats… the true Mexican steak prep, pork… and my all time fav, lengua. They have thr best ceviche I’ve had in my life and can only compare to a life long immigrant best friend family recipe from out of northern Mexico immigration itself. Seriously I eat only here…. And if I could get lengua true Mexican style tortas ans tacos at this very heavily true to traditional Mexican, not tex mex, I’d never even have to hit diver for a torta or lengua craving. I’m very experienced in not stupid American Tex mex crap living in cities in thr mid west were you find the BEST REAL Mexican at those family owned dives…. They aren’t so much on every other street in burbs of NJ. But I spent 2 decades with BFF family immigrant recipe foods and eating TRUE foods. I’ve searched Mexican restaurants since arriving back to NJ in 2008. And Riviera Maya in Rockaway has the absolute best of the best!

Place was horrible. Food came out cold and it looked it had been sitting in the kitchen and was reheated. Dried out. Ordered drinks and even the drinks came out like they had no alcohol in it. You pay a lot of money for a drink, there better be alcohol in it. Never again.

Alberto began working there as a Guacamole maker at table side 10 years ago and is still there.
Just as customizes guacamole , the food was also customizable to suite your palate.
I normally get pork ribs not with their sauce but a spicy one slightly different from Siracha customized by the chef and single malt.
Now there is NO chef. Whether you are at 1776 David Burke or at Daniel Boulud at 60E 65 - the chef is capable of making dish to suite you as Daniel says ,” I make it but you eat it” .
This place is a lousy place now as Alberto says the management changed twice and everything is decimated.
The Rivera Maya in Rockaway closed down and soon this will have the same fate.

We always used to love the margaritas here and we were doing a fun lunch Friday for work. The guacamole is always great and my dish was fine. However, it never appears to be the cleanest place and my co-worker was eating her burrito when she got a giant piece of plastic (like from a cheese wrapper) in her bite. Kind of grossed us all out. We may not be back for a while.

Don’t use the QR code to pay your check, it’s a scam that brings you to an escort service that keeps trying to charge you. I had to cancel 2 credit cards because of this scam.

Before I start my review, let me just say that RIVIERA MAYA may just have the ABSOLUTE BEST salsa I've ever eaten ANYWHERE as part of a salsa and chips lead-in to my meal. And I do mean ANYWHERE! IMHO, and despite the literally thousands of brands and styles of salsa available commercially, I believe RIVIERA MAYA should bottle theirs and sell it - it's that good!
Should they decide not to do so commercially, I would also like to suggest that they offer it for sale to customers should they want to take some home after dining in the restaurant. IN fact, I'd make a special trip to the place just to buy the salsa.
Now on to my review:
I had a combo platter of shredded beef and chicken enchiladas. Pretty standard fare, but cooked to perfection! The shredded beef enchiladas were hot, tender, tasty and covered in perfectly melted cheese and sauce. The same applies to the chicken enchiladas. The balance of the menu is very large and comprehensive and offers a variety of dishes to satisfy the most discriminating lovers of Mexican cuisine.
They have a nice sized bar that was quite busy on the night I ate there and a great selection of domestic, Mexican and other imported beers.
The place gets a pretty good crowd based on cars in their lot and I took that as a good sign before eating there and it seems to be well attended most of the time.
Based on my meal and their EXCEPTIONAL SALSA, I will be back!

I’ve been coming here for years for dinner, special events, parties etc. The food is always good, staff is friendly and helpful, nice decor. The chips and salsa come with the meal and the salsa is amazing. They have a great happy hour food and drink specials.

We happened upon this restaurant almost by accident. Our friends went to another of their sister restaurants, and we had put this one in our GPS. A great find and we all ended up dining here and having a wonderful authentic Mexican dinner! The decor is colorful and happy and the music played is perfect. Some of it was vintage Mexican and just awesome! It's annoying when you expect a great authentic meal and random, non indigenous music is played, it kills the mood. The staff was also attentive, polite and all around great.

Lunch Date with my sister was well received. This is place she recommended and it did not disappoint. We started off with cocktails and complimentary chips and salsa. She ordered the table side guacamole. It was delicious. Our only criticism is the ingredients on the cart obstruct the view of the entertainment of watching it be made.
I had the combination of taco 🌮 and flautas. The food smelled wonderful and was equally tasty. She had the tacos and enjoyed them also!
Good place to get you Mexican cravings with great service.

The food was good. They had a lot of classic Mexican options. Guacamole was on point, and that is always a good sign of traditional Mexican place. A friend and i got a pitcher of margaritas, and they were perfect!!

Staff are great in this place. Quick, efficient, and very attentive. Had the tacos hard shell, with steak. They came with rice and retried beans. Ordered a cup of the Mexican cheese dip for the appetizer. The tortilla chips also came with a awesome, fresh and spicy salsa. All and all great food and service. The refried beans were the only part of the dish I was not really impressed with. Will try this place again.
