First experience with Espo's was in the 1980's and it's still here with big plates of pasta in a very casual establishment resting smack dab in the middle of blue color America - Jon Bon Jovi's uncle's funeral home is just around the corner, but that isn't the reason to go ... food has always been awesome. Fun place a... More

We returned after about a year and enjoyed our second visit. I had the steak parmigiana and, while I don't generally like anything on my steak, this was cooked properly and very tasty. The red sauce used on all their dishes is very good: thick with lots of garlic! My wife had the shrimp scampi and really liked it. This... More

This is a great and fun location for a meal - tons of atmosphere! The food is not the best....very large portions but not really very imaginative and basically tomato sauce(s) with pasta and cheese. Not a lot of variations or flavors.

Best Italian dinner around. I tell all my friends if they didn't truly love it I'd buy their dinner never had to yet

I grew up in Raritan many many years ago. It had been about 20 yrs since I had been in Espo's and it was exactly what I remembered. If you want real Italian food, with a great old school bar and restaurant go to Espo's. I had the eggplant with penne pasta with tomato sauce - as close as it... More

It's been a while since I've been to Espo's but it was still as good as I remembered. I had the stuffed peppers, 2 gigantic peppers of which I was only able to eat one. With a side of spaghetti with white clam sauce. My friend had the beef braciosle, 3 of them came on her plate. This place always... More

Great staff and very good food. Loved the chalkboard menu, easy to read and traditional Italian choices. Each person in my group tried something different. We had stuffed shells , manicotti, lasagna and chicken cacciatore. Everyone loved their choices. The cheese and sauce was delicious. We all shared a piece of cheesecake that was excellent.

It had been many years since I have visited as I have heard that weekends are packed and they don't take reservations (they don't need to). Arrived at approx. 5:30 on a Thursday night and we had our pick of a table. By 6:45/7:00 the place was packed. Lot's of Italian American favorites. Lots of sauce and lots of food!... More

Terrific local well hidden gem in Raritan. Been around for ages. All entrees are listed on whiteboards around the small, cozy bar/dining area. Food is consistently good, although simple. Italian specialties and great steak.

Overall, food was good. I would not consider true Italian food, but more Italian American where entrees are smothered with sauce. Restaurant is located on a residential street. Quaint little building with street parking. Restaurant is not too big, and the lighting is dim. Menus are on a chalk board. Regarding the food; antipasto had average Italian cold cuts, salami...
