La Strada is a restaurant with a very nice, comforting ambiance and great Italian/Continental food. I've never had a bad meal here or, as others have stated had to deal with long waits and poor service. Like many Italian restaurants in northern NJ, it offers...a wide selection of dishes from those we'd consider standards to a variety of specials that oftentimes showcase the chef's individual creativity. The pricing is pretty standard for this part of the country. My main problem when I eat here is having so many choices and then having to decide. I've made attempts to try different dishes each time I eat here. I've read the other reviews here that are negative and I think that those reviews resulted from stand-alone incidents that are not indicative of the overall quality of this establishment. I live nearby and try to eat here when I have a craving for good food.More

Excellent drinks and appetizers, fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms. Sunday gravy was very underwhelming. Bolognese sauce was very sweet.

Not the same place. Service was horrible and wait time was over 2 hours. And I asked about the service I was told they were short help . Not my problem if you can’t hire help then close your doors. Food was horrible, I will...never go backMore

Service was excellent. Pasta was over cooked served in a soupy sauce. My husband’s dish had fish that was either over or undercooked. We had been there a few times in the past and the food was very good. This time was different........

Delicious food and good service in a casual atmosphere, at a reasonable price. Always good for dinner with friends and family.

I took a date to dinner the night after Valentines Day hoping for an experience commensurate with the pricy menu. The only memorable thing about the evening was cajoling with the other patrons at the end of the evening about the slap stick performance of...the staff and the kitchen throughout the evening as well as the drama around no less than four tables who either noisily got up and left or threatened to do so. The specifics: We were seated in the back dining room where it was far too cold; we waited a long time for the waiter to come to the table to order drinks... we had to beg a busboy to get bread... we never got the olives... wine finally came about 25 minutes after we arrived... we waited much longer for the privilege of someone taking our order; the waiter never checked up on us and he avoided eye contact perhaps because he couldn’t keep up; the food was ok... nothing special and not particularly hot..; everyone in the dining room was complaining... wow, can’t beat that atmosphere for a romantic Valentines Day meal; but the best part was that the bus staff joined into the mockery of the owner, kitchen service and the wait staff... total dysfunction!More

Our reservations were for the Saturday night after Valentine's Day for 4 of us. I've never been, but have heard many great things over the years about this place. We were seated in the back dining room which was not full yet. Our waiter, "B"...( don't want to say the full name), had to be asked to tell us the specials. Bread delivered was good but cold. We had to ask for the bowl of olives which is supposed to automatically come with the bread. Long wait for food. Appetizers: clams oreganata, eggplant, fried mozzarella, fried calamari all came out lukewarm, no sauce with calamari, no waiter to be found. When he did, apologies with blame on new owner. Our entrees while good, 3 came out lukewarm & 1 was steaming! Waiter never came to check on us if everything was good. Other staff was running around, filling glasses of water, replacing silverware. Unfortunately, even though "B" stated he had experience, it was obvious he needed to serve on a less busy night. Simply couldn't keep track of his customers, constantly looking at his little pieces of paper which when he gave us the check, could not read his own writing. He blamed all problems on the new owner. Manager on duty did take off our coffees and dessert but we won't be back. It was supposed to be a great dining experience but because of poor service and less than hot food, we choose to go elsewhere.More

Great food, very romantic they have a piano player that plays a variety of songs. A little pricey but worth it

Had been going for years. Recent ownership change. Half the diners in the room we were seated got up and left after waiting over 2 hours for food that never arrived. We were lucky as our came at the two hour mark but people who...were seated thirty minutes before us were still waiting. Watching multiple tables get up and leave was something I had never seen before. The Dining room was now half empty. My Grouper dish was ok and my wife's Seafood Pescatore was bad. We than spent twenty minutes trying to get our check and credit card back. She had to go and get it or we would have never gotten out of there. Never Again and saddens me to write this as it was one of the best Italian Restaurants around Morris County NJ for decades.More

Slow,slow,slow to the point of annoyance. From getting menus to appetizers and finally our meals. Should have known what was coming when our drink order was slow because the bar was backed up.

Just has a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner! Everything was perfect! Food was great, service was amazing, and even Santa stopped by! Have been here many times in the past and this was the best experience yet. Was concerned with new ownership but everything was great....Even when they got busy you could see great team work among the staff. Our server Jose was great and personable. Water was always kept filled. Highly recommend. Coat service and valet parking is an added perk. Top notch old school dining. Will definitely be back.More

It is so nice to have a local place that brings great food and service together. Starting at the bar was a nice touch, although the only disappointment was the Sangeria was from a bottle not made....that needed to be told. The food was delicous,...we had the burrata cheese appetizer special was very tastey. I normally do not eat veal but could not resist and the lobster ravioli was amazing. It is nice to find a special resturant where the food , service and value for was well worth it. It's nice too see people dressing in more than jeans and having a first class meal and not breaking the bank. Will visit again on a more regular basisMore
