Trying to be a New York steak house but the reality is it’s a Camden steak joint. Hi my name is John and I am recently retired onto Waretown new jersey. My wife and I have been going out, to to three times a week...for the last 20+ years. We eat at restaurants such as Ruth Chris and the old Homestead in Manhattan,Segovia Restaurant Moonachie right down to the local pizza parlor with four or 5 tables in the back. I rate food service and price accordingly but always seem to try to be fair. Last Saturday first week of September we had a recommendation to go to prime 13 from a friend of ours in brick. We had a 5 o’clock reservation and arrive promptly at 5 and sat inside, we ordered two appetizers a 12 ounce steak and a larger ribeye for myself. The water and bread came out fine along with the appetizer right after that everything fell apart we had to wait over an hour and a half for a main course to come even though they were only 7 or 8 tables inside and out that were filled. The waiter kept apologizing which only goes so far, when our meals came out my wife’s fillet was rare when we ordered it medium and my steak look like it came out of ShopRite. But what made it worse was the party of three next to us each ordered the same chicken dish and when it came out they told the waiter that they were under the impression that it was grilled chicken and not sautéed with sauce . The waiter then must’ve gone and called the police and they shortly arrived to arrest the people for not paying for the meal. The people never touch the food nor left the table, I have work in the food service business when I was younger and I currently own two companies myself and I would never call police because the customer was not satisfied with what they received. Then the waiter went to tell all the other tables that these people were basically crooks mind you they never touched their food. Also our meals arrived with inadequate cuts of meat for the price we paid nothing else on the plate no garnish no nothing just a small lump of meat in the middle of a cold plate. And a fine restaurant the plate would’ve been hot and some garnish put on the side of the plate to make it look attractive I will never ever return to this restaurant because of the way they treated the other table , talked to the other customers why they had the police come and the poor quality and quantity of food. If you ever get up to North Jersey and want the finest meal around especially for lunch go to Segovia Moonachie New Jersey sit at the bar and enjoy a wonderful meal at a reasonable price thank you JohnMore

The service, the atmosphere, the food were all fantastic. Our party all had different cuts of steak and it was cooked to perfection. The tuna taco appetizers where AMAZING.

Amazing cuisine, fine steaks, excellently prepared, wonderful sides and served with enthusiasm; not much to complain about. Except, in a high priced restaurant with an expectation of high level everything; they allow loud young people wearing ball caps to detract from an otherwise perfect evening....People paying their prices expect a notch up in customer behavior!More

Our server was great but took over an hour to get our steak which was just mediocore. Chefs are way too relaxed and slow with people waiting. One of the chefs was hanging out at a table of his friends while we had already been...waiting over an hour. Also the ribeye for 2 was not worth $79. It was a little tough.More

Wife and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary at Prime 13 last night, 7/13/21. Reservations at 5pm and sat window side at, 5pm. The staff and our waiter were attentive and prompt. Food was always on time and never was an issue. The quality...of the food was divine. I had the pierogi’s with vodka sauce and wife had the French onion soup to start out. The French onion soup was done with Gruyere Cheese and it was done in perfect fashion. My pierogi’s were stuffed with a mild cheese and topped with thinly sliced onions and topped with vodka sauce. If you are expecting the generic bread and butter for your table that won’t happen. Prime 13 does better, much better. We were served twisted pretzel rolls with a spicy brown honey mustard that had a flavor all its own. It was incredibly delicious. After our appetizer/ soup came the house salads for us. Such a simple manner but, again, Prime 13 decided to separate themselves from the herd and our salad’s dressing made all the difference. Now, onto the main course. I had the Rack of Lamb cooked medium with a side of Jersey “Disco Fries”. The lamb chops were exquisite and cooked to perfection. Wife had the Filet “Barrel Cut” cooked medium with a side of asparagus. Proportions for our dining experience was great. We had leftovers to take home. Price to quality of food, service, and atmosphere was appropriately marketed. The dining area filled quickly and there is also outside seating as well in a nicely lit makeshift patio area. Reservations are a very good idea as walk-ins may find themselves waiting. I give Prime 13 a 5 Star rating and I will supply pictures of our experience. Thank you for making our Anniversary dinner a special occasion and fondly remembered experience.More

Kayla was a wonderful server. However the food was just average. The dinner salad was too sweet. The creamed spinach was also too sweet. One NY Strip was undercook and one was overcooked. Both had too much fat and gristle.

Terrible. Arrive for a 7:30 pm reservation, seated at 8:15, meal served at 10;20 pm At no time did the owner or anyone come to our table to update or apologize. Everytime we asked the waitress, we were told entrees would be out shorty. All...meals were undercooked, wait staff didnt know the menu, no employees wore masks. The mask part was more of a political statement by the owner, so we were told. We witnessed two other groups get up and leave without ever eating. Nobody here knows how to run a restaurant, and for the money being charged, its a crime, As for the hidden surcharge, we took it out of the tip, I felt bad, but service was terrible and maybe if the employees complain about this underhanded money grab, the owner will either eliminate it, or let you know when you sit down that they plan to charge you. We will NEVER be backMore

To be fair, this is during the pandemic. My husband and I were out for a drive and we stopped for dinner. We wanted to try something new and the place had a tent in case it rained. We didn’t have reservations so we weren’t...allowed to sit under the tent even though more than three quarters of the tables were empty. “Those tables are reserved.” Okay, fair enough. the menu was ala carte except where noted. I ordered the Salmon Oscar, which was a special. My husband ordered filet and lobster tail with a baked potato. He didn’t want a salad so he asked that they substitute the potato instead. The Salmon Oscar came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I was impressed with the way the Salmon was cooked, flake and perfectly cooked yet the outside was crispy! The entire dish was delicious! It cost about $30. The filet was typical and the lobster tail was delicious! 13 ounces and cooked just right, my husband enjoyed it so much he didn’t realize the server forgot to bring out his baked potato. He asked about it halfway through his meal and she apologized and brought it out immediately. No desserts caught our eye so we asked for the check. Mind you, there were just as many people seated under the tent as when we arrived approximately and hour earlier. The hostess came and and apologized that she could have seated us in a better location since she had multiple reservation cancellations. The bill came and we were shocked that my husbands 6 ounce filet mingon and 13 ounce lobster tail was almost $65! We hadn’t asked what market price was so shame on us AND he did enjoy his it. The baked potato which was the same you could get anywhere else was 8!!!! The total was $156 without a tip. We used our credit card and were shocked again when the server brought it back for a signature to see there was a service charge for using a credit card!!!! There was no sign that we could see saying a fee would be added for credit card usage. It wasn’t on the menu either. We paid. We went home and now tell everyone we know. As good as the food was, the service and fees aren’t worth it.More

So disappointed! Two of our meals were under cooked. After sending them back to the kitchen, not once but twice, the waiter showed us the menus description of “medium rare” stating they recently changed their definitions. Why didn’t the waiter bring that up in the...first place? Not to mention each time he took my plate he took my utensils. Each time he came back I had to ask him for another set. To add insult to injury - when the bill came it included a 3.5% “service fee” if paid my credit card! No where did I find this written except the bottom of the bill nor was it ever mentioned.More

I’ve been a Prime 13 customer for several years, but tonight was the last time this establishment will ever see a dime of my money. The reason I will never eat there again has nothing to do with the quality of their food, or the...ability of their waitstaff. It has to do with THEIR LACK OF ETHICS!! I hosted a party of five for dinner this evening, and when the $333 +tax check arrived, I just happened to notice that way down at the bottom of the bill, well below the list of food items and total, was a notice that there would be a 3.5% surcharge for using a card. Nowhere on their website does it mention this. Nowhere on their reservation platform does it mention this. Nowhere on their menu does it mention this. At no point from the time we were greeted to the time the check arrived was I informed of this. In fact, I had to call the waiter over to confirm that this was in fact happening. So now, I have the privilege of giving this establishment an extra $12 on top of the several hundred that I’m already spending to offset the fee they pay to the card processing entity. How is that at all fair? And by the way - I’m case you’re wondering - it’s not like Prime 13’s prices are low to begin with. They are completely in line with every other restaurant in their category. I also have no doubt that the 20% tip I left the waiter (I didn’t want to punish him for his employer’s bad business practice) will ultimately cost me 23.5%. I calmly voiced my displeasure to the waiter who couldn’t have looked more embarrassed, and asked him to convey it to the owner or manager or whomever the person was that was in charge. The same person who had visited our table twice over the course of dinner, and was currently sitting outside not 10 feet from us. The waiter did as I asked, and his employer’s response was to basically retreat inside as fast as he could. How courageous of him!! I lingered for several minutes after sending the rest of my party on to the car in hopes this person would have the decency to at least come over and say something to me, but no. Oh well, now in addition to losing a loyal customer, Prime 13 has inspired me to tell everyone I can about their shady ways. And the sad part is, that it’s not even the fleecing for extra money that has me so angry - it’s the completely under-the-table way they are going about it. Shame on Prime 13.More
