I got an email that The Shrimp Box was reopening for the season on 3/4 so we headed down for a good seafood dinner and sunset over the docks. The place was packed and in mid season form.
Our waitress Brianna was professional, attentive and very cordial. My wife had the stuffed shrimp and I had the mesquite grilled Salmon with a honey mustard sauce. Both meals were served with a colorful assortment of mixed vegetables and followed by decadent desserts.
You might expect a few hiccups on an opening day but the entire staff was on their game and judging by the conversations, many regulars were glad to be back. We sure were and can’t wait to return. If you love seafood you can’t beat The Shrimp Box -for the food or the view!

due to no indoor or outdoor dining at the time, we had delivery from the shrimp box to our hotel. we received the food in a timely manner and were impressed that we could get beer and wine delivered as well. the best was the shrimp was fresh and delicious and we also had them deliver to our pool at the white sands so we could dine outside. there is nothing better than having fresh lobster tail and shrimp while enjoying outside. we cant wait to return to dine on the patio!

Since we moved out of state and last dined here, nothing's changed. The food and the service are still outstanding. We were seated immediately at a table by the water thanks to good timing on our part. The fishing boats are docked just across the inlet where much of the seafood comes from. Our server, Blake, was friendly, helpful, and professional. I ordered the crab stuffed flounder and my wife ordered the honey glazed salmon. Both of our meals were large and with plenty of fish. My meal came with 2 large stuffed flounder which had a lot of great shrimp stuffing. I could've eaten just one and been satisfied, but the gavone in me came out and I had to eat both. We were both full when we finished and so took our deserts, which came with the meals, to go. The Shrimp Box is definitely the restaurant to go to for fresh seafood in the area.

It’s a mystery why this place is so popular. They don’t take reservations for parties of 4 or less, which means that on a summer day you’ll have to wait at least 45 minutes. The bartenders at the patio bar are grossly incompetent and pour bland overpriced drinks to those patient enough to watch them faff around for 20 minutes. The gigantic dining room is obsolete, unappealing, noisy, and understaffed. When we finally sdaEven the shrimp are average or below average! You could buy the same frozen seafood at the supermarket for much less money, because on top of everything else, most portions are small and overpriced.

My husband and I spent our vacation at the Jersey Shore and we were told by the hotel staff the shrimp box was the place to go for fresh fish, so we decided to try this place - big mistake! We both ordered the broiled trio, sounded great. The service was horrible, never received bread, salad was simply lettuce (no tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.), no refills on our iced tea and dinner took way longer than norm. When we finally received our dinner the flounder was so over cooked it was mush, the scallops were tasteless, and the shrimp weren't cleaned and de-veined. Clearly, I didn't eat the shrimp but since I was hungry I ate the flounder and scallops. I was so sick that night and the next day. The fish was clearly frozen and we paid top dollar for fresh fish. We would have had a better seafood dinner at Red Lobster. You would expect fresh seafood when the restaurant is a block from the ocean, very very disappointed!!

We had Sunday dinner there. They offer a full course dinner from Noon to 5:00 pm every day. The Manhattan clam chowder was very good. In addition, the fried coconut shrimp and the grilled, blacken swordfish were excellent. The cocktails were good quality, and the server was on top of her game. The apple crisp pie and chocolate cake were a good end to the meal. Even the coffee was nice.

I went to this place because a local relative recommended it. I was not impressed. The scallops were overcooked, small, and sandy. The shrimp was a bit overcooked. The flounder, lobster bisque (more on this below), and clam chowder were good. Had I not had fresh fish at another restaurant before this one I wouldn't have known that there was MUCH better lobster bisque elsewhere. The butter brought out for the bread was ice cold so all it did was tear it up. The wine I chose was awful and I didn't finish it. I had never had a bad Argentinian wine until this visit.
The restaurant itself was charming and there was lots of parking. The view out the windows was quite nice. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated at a booth near the window right away (it is off-season after all).
I don't think I'd go back though as there is much better elsewhere.

Friend and I went on a weekday before 5pm - they have a great special deal 12-5pm on weekdays. The price of the entree (if I recall, it is a limited menu yet nice offerings and we were able to tweak our order) includes: salad, beverage (non-alcoholic), entree and dessert for the price of the entree. Very nice service, waitress was great and we didn’t wait long to get served. Decor is nautical so nice right on the water there. NOTE: The “special” which I refer to is not available outdoors on their patio. Definitely worth the trip!

We just came back from dinner and had to post this review while the experience was fresh in my mind. We were a table of 8 and had reservations. Our table was ready on time, however the service was absolutely atrocious. The server never took our drink order and she never even came back to the table after taking our order...except to drop off the check. Maybe we inadvertently went to a fast food restaurant and did not know it..lol. Additionally, the food was pretty bad. There are several other places to go nearby that all have fresh fish but for some reason this place did not have that. Everything seemed frozen at some point and was just microwaved. We would have told them about the bad experience except nobody seemed to care about listening to our complaints. Thank God the company we had at the table made up for the horrible experience..however..avoid this place at all costs..trust me:)

Great dining experience and seafood today. It was also a great value since we were able to order off of their "Sunset Menu" (earlybird), available until 5 PM. But, since we skipped lunch we ate an early dinner on this hot Monday @ 4 PM with no wait & with a nice view of the harbor. When we left they we're waiting to get in. The pricing included soup or salad, entre, beverage bread and desert . But, the fresh seafood is superb, scallops,shrimp and flounder broiled.

What an amazing experience. We waited about 25 minutes and sat at the bar. Drinks were great we had coconut mojitos. Bartenders were so nice!! Went to our table, had the NE Clam Chowder, was sooo good!! The shrimp cocktail very fresh and cold. Dinner we had The salmon with honey dijon glaze and linguine in red clam sauce, both were to die for! I had to get the rice and baked potato couldnt decide between the two. The server was soooo nice. We were able to park in the parking lot. Can not wait to go back and try the crab cakes!! The only complaint I would have which is not a big deal is the bread they serve you its not warm. But thank you Shrimp Box for a Fantastic Dinner!!

The website touts the cool dock. Well 80% of the people have no view of the water but a great view of the parking lot.
Food not hot. Covers over the food would help. But food was tasty Of course outdoor seating
Pretzel calamari not pretzel but fried
And not important but just saying -
Entree salad iceberg. No ketchup for fries was annoying but not a show stopper
Yes i may go back but after COVID because food was generally good

We have been to the Shrimp Box on at least three occasions. It is a destination location, as we live 90 minutes away.
The various sea food offerings are always fresh and delicious. From the stuffed flounder with crabmeat, to the excellent scallops and jumbo shrimp, you will find a dinner to enjoy. The NE clam chowder is special. The Shrimp Box offers a Sunset Dinner promotion, every day between noon and 5.00PM. Most of the regular menu items are offered and the prices are amazing. The value cannot be matched. Top off the dinner with the included dessert and beverage choice. Forgot to mention the view on the water and an excellent wait staff.
This place is a must!

So pleased with our dinner! It was my daughters 13th birthday and she suffers from a few life threatening allergies. Our server, Christian was such a wonderful young man and took such great care of us. He even called over one of the managers (her name escapes me) but dark short dark and dark rimed glasses! What a sweetheart she went out of her way to call a bread company to see if the wrap we were ordering contained any egg. Besides being flawless for service and attentiveness the food was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed every bite, we were able to catch the most amazing sunset right at the dock on the inlet. An amazing night and birthday celebration thank you to the staff at Shrimp box for taking care of my daughter and our family!

I gave this place a second chance against my better judgement. The expected 1 hr 45 min wait...they text when your table is ready, which is convenient. And although they ‘close’ at 9pm, if you put your name on the wait list before then, they will seat you even if your table becomes available at 10 or 11pm. Mediocre drinks. Scallops were frozen and rubbery. Close to rotten tomatoes on salad. Waiter was lovely. Lively crowd of 50 year olds. No need to go back.
