I dined at Marakesh over the weekend with 4 friends. I was nervous dining indoors due to covid. However they were careful to socially distance guests. The music was great, the waitress even better, and the food was delicious. Absolutely 5 stars.
First time here. My wife and I went with another couple. They offer a couple of fixed price menus and, if you are there with more than a couple, you can order different options and share. Food was all good to very good and portions...were plentiful.
Very comfortable lounge-type seating. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Belly dancing show was a lot of fun.
A very different, fun, relaxing experience as the seatings are about 2.5 hoursMore
Loved the food, loved the service. The only thing I did not like is the way the manager treats the workers she stands there giving orders without helping them and you can tell she is disrespectful and rude to them. I felt awful for the...young man cleaning the tables she was specially rude to him. The staff there is amazing and should be treated better.More
I took clients (a husband and wife) Friday evening. It was my first time at Marakesh in Parsippany. We had reservations for 8pm, but with my clients running quite late I called to let them know I'd be up to 45 minutes late. The ladies...who took my reservation & also gave a heads up to were both very sweet, very accommodating and hassle-free about it. We were only 30 minutes late. The lady at the door was really sweet and the table was waiting for us. This is a medium size restaurant, and it was full! My clients happen to own restaurants & I've seen them reject food before. But tonight, they were delighted at the ambiance, the belly dancer & they ate all the food! I actually found the food quite delicious myself! And our waiter "Monier" greeted us with the biggest smile and explained how things went. His exceptional service also made the night for us. I have been going out for years and for me, either the service is great but the food is average or visa-versa, but here, everything was great- food, service, atmosphere, belly-dancer. I would certainly recommend it to others if you like middle-eastern food and haven't been here before. It did well by me.More
This Moroccan restaurant encourages relaxation and communing with your company. Living room style decor and seating although chairs are available. Service was ultra attentive and eager to help newbies like us.
The food was flavorful, lamb tangine fell right off the bone. Appetizers were interesting...and delicious (shrimp skewers, Moroccan cigars, Baba ganoush, hummus, pickled vegetables). The desserts, yes plural, that came as part of our ‘ bundle’ were just enough sweet and pretty to look at.
I’m going back soon!More
We had a great co-workers' lunch at Marakesh on Route 46 in Parsippany. They have a really good deal because there are salads and bread to start (free of charge), followed by your choice of entree. I had the beef gyro. My co-workers chose the...shrimp, chicken kebab, beef kebab and tilapia dishes. Everyone said they enjoyed their meal. We also tried the free house tea - a sweetened mint tea. I wouldn't hesitate to go back, perhaps for dinner this time.More
We are living in this area since 2014 but never been here. Heard about it lot from friends and colleagues but still, it did not look promising to me from outside ( ok, ok, I should not judge a book by its cover). Finally got...a chance to come to this place last Friday ( one of our buddies was going to India for good, so it was his farewell).
First thing first, call beforehand and book your reservation, cause on Friday and Saturday there is belly dance performance and all table gets fully booked by the reservation basis only. Belly dance happens only on Fri-Sat so rest other days it should be fine.
It was a cold night, got the parking easily. The moment you enter and you feel like you are not in the USA anymore. This is a typical Moroccan style restaurant. Ambiance, sitting arrangements, painting on the wall, architecture of this place, their table is one big rounded plate, so all of it makes it perfect.
They have 2 options, either go for Ala-carte or chose their buffet which is $34/Person. We chose ala carte and ordered below items-
Chicken Kabob (Garlic, Marakesh spice blend, olive oil)
Baby Lamb Tagine (Saffron sauce, toasted almonds)
Moroccan Grilled Chicken (Moroccan white honey, stone ground mustard)
Sharmoula Mediterranean Salmon (Cilantro, tomato, lemon juice, garlic)
Well, I won’t be focused on food, cause food wise I had very high expectations after reading the reviews on various platforms, but I found it just okay. Salmon was very blunt, rectangle pieces of salmon with tomato and garlic. Don’t know what it was. Baby lamb was kind of okay but again, expectations were too much I guess. Tunisian Chicken was a very rubberish type. All the entrée comes with salad and bread. Portions are also okay, not huge, enough for one person. And did I mention, they have BYOB. So yeah get your poison with yourself and enjoy.
I believe they know their USP was belly dance and not food. At 9 PM, dancers came and performed belly dance with various props. It was for good 25-30 minutes performance and it was a fabulous, beautiful experience. Music-dance- dim light ambiance, it was a great atmosphere. One dancer balanced the whole tray of candles and danced beautifully. Dancers will come to your table and will ask you for dance. Many patrons enjoyed the dance with beautiful dancers. Don’t forget to tip them.
After 10 PM, this place is like an open place for dance. Hahaha… you can leave your table and dance in the middle. It was like a crazy dance floor. 10-20 folks were dancing and when they played Bollywood song, I could not resist myself and danced out there with my beautiful wife.
They also charge $2 per person for belly dance and it would be included in your bill. The place is very loudly, no you can’t have a peaceful conversation here, forget that. Lol.
So overall experience was terrific and if the food was good enough, it would have been 5 stars. But its 4/5 for me. Yes definitely recommended. Not every day you see belly dance in restaurants. Cheers..!!!More
I came here for lunch a few times and their food is amazing. There is a salad bar where you can help yourself. Their Lamb Kofta is delicious and quite a large serving. The decor and atmosphere is the cherry on top of the cake...to a great dining experience.More
