This restaurant is permanently closed. It hasn’t been open since last March. Don’t know why they didn’t at least do outside dining with their gigantic parking lot. Always enjoyed going there

I haven't been to this historical restaurant in years. Although the food quality has gotten better the service has gotten worse. We went to see a burlesque show and although we were seated in the VIP area we got the worst service! They took everyone's...orders first even many patrons arrived later than we did. When they finally took our order they delivered one wrong order. The show was average; the food has improved but they need to train their servers better.More

It's a steak and Paella place but the fish is excellent as well. Two of us had swordfish, one had salmon and another had codfish and ALL were delicious. Served with homemade potato chips and rice. Quaint atmosphere, like a Spanish Tavern. More food than...you can eat. And the price was right.More

I wanted to treat myself to a prime rib. I had heard amazing things about El Cid and the way they prepared it as well as the size of it. As the waiter brought it over to my table people were staring at the plate...as if it were a giant brick of gold. The prime rib was almost as big as my head. The flavor was stupendous and it was cooked to medium rare perfection. As for the size, I really don’t know how big it was as they don’t tell you on the menu. It had to be at least 3 pounds. If you’re looking for the most amazing prime rib you’ll ever have in your life, El Cid is the place for you!More

Great steaks and lobsters! Lived in Northern NJ (Bergen Country) for 20+ years and this is our favorite restaurant. We have celebrated a lot of occasions here with family and friends. It's a bit noisy but never bothered us. Just gives you the feeling like...you are in a party without a band or dancing. Bar is always busy. Service is good and fast. Host/Hostess and servers are great. A must try if you are around the area. There's always extra food to take home.More

The Paella here is better than what we had on a recent trip to Spain. Great steak. Nice ambiance. Note: Closed during the month of August.

Spanish restaurant but also a great place for a steak. We were a group of 4 and everyone ordered the Prime Rib —— we almost died when it was being served! Honestly 2 people could have eaten the one portion...each steak was massive Ordered the...garlic shrimp appetizer which was amazing. Place was packed... expensive for sure but great food ! Service was a little sluggish but it was very busy so no complaintsMore

Used to go to El Cid when it first opened, and it was a real treat. Authentic Spanish and Portuguese food at very reasonable prices. Since they are grown in popularity the prices have gone up the quality has gone down. No other way to...put it, then to many of these type of restaurants in this area and in the Down Neck of Newark, the mecca of Portuguese Spanish restaurants, this doesn't even compare. Better to go to Granada and Hawthorne at least their prices are reasonable will be at there are a bit small.More

I hadn’t been to El CID in years and it is just as good as I remember, if not better! For appetizers we had an order of the garlic shrimp and the chorizos . The shrimp were large and tender and smothered in garlic! The...chorizo was tender and delicious! We had the house salad with our meal. It was fresh and refreshing! I had the paella and my friend had stuffed lobster! Both were amazing. Our husbands had 2 1/2 pound steaks which were delicious! The chips and rice were a nice compliment to our meal. We were so stuffed we couldn’t even consider dessert! I certainly will be back soon!More

The sound level, you will find, is typical to most other restaurants that are popular and always well attended. Go early, 5pm, before the crowd arrives, should you desire "quiet".
