Chef Herb Allwood and his wife Pamela Womble opened 701 mosaic in August 2008 to present an exciting array of old and new world flavors and showcase their passion for Caribbean and Mediterranean cuisine. They successfully created an upscale, warm and welcoming bistro in what was once an abandoned pizza parlor in Ocean City's North End. The team received a 2008 Beautification Award from the City of Ocean City for their renovation of the property. 701 Mosaic operates seasonally from May to October and looks forward to your next visit.
This place was such a surprise. I live about 1 block from here and I never have been there...then I decided to try it. The service was ourstanding. The food WOW delish. The salad was even amazing I do hope you try this little diamond.
This place was only a short 2 block walk from our hotel on a cool summer evening. We arrived close to about an hour before closing, without reservations, luckily they were able to accommodate us and did not make us feel unwanted at the later...hour. We did have a bit of wait to order, since we were sitting outside we were probably not as visible as the customers indoors. We had samples of the house made Caribbean drinks, ginger bear and a hibiscus tea punch, both were good but I ordered the ginger bear! Awesome! The Mediterranean dipping plate was excellent and the wife LOVED the jerk chicken wings (she has tried lots, these were the best ever!). She tried the porterhouse steak, I tried the vegetarian sampler, both were excellent! No room left for dessert, but that was a mistake it looked amazing! Next time we will be back!More
Attention all foodies: this is the place to go in OC, NJ! My husband and I went there tonight with low expectations as there doesn’t seem to be much in OC for foodies. We eat out quite frequently and are easily disappointed in the selection...of Restaraunt’s whenever we travel to beachy tourist towns like OC. 701 mosaic was fabulous! The hostess and servers were so welcoming. I actually think the hostess may have been the owner. The service was top notch and the food was absolutely delicious. I had salmon with a delicious glaze on jasmine rice with the most wonderful vegetables. Incredibly tasty! My husband had the jerk chicken and said it was the best he had ever had. If you visit OC, NJ make sure you have dinner here. You will love it.More
Wow! Ocean City NJ's best kept secret. And I just discovered it!
A wonderful array of caribean and European dishes, which inspired their name Mosaic.
Pam and husband Chef Roberto have owned and operated Mosaic 701 for 11 years. How do I know? Pam came...over to chat and told me so.
The decor is simple and elegant and comfortable.
Really good food. 66 seats so reservations are probably a good idea for especially for groups over 4. I walked in without a reservations at 5:15. Plenty of room at that moment.
Go casual or dress up and feel 5-star.
I plan to return and eat my way through the menu.
This is our second time to 701 Mosaic and it’s the best Jamaican food in South Jersey! After recently coming back from Jamaica we were spoiled, we now know where to go! There jerked pork was out of this world! I think I had the...best dinner at the table. There was 13 of us and Everybody enjoyed the food and got something different to taste. We went through several orders of their mixed appetizers, jerked wings, patties, calamari. My only suggestion is they need to work on their jerked wings. They were dry and lacked flavor. However, this doesn’t change my opinion about the phenomenal food here! Our family, who ordered the soup with several different types of fish, raved highly about it! A couple family members ordered jerked chicken, which was on the bone. They give you a half of a chicken! A couple of my relatives got Jamaican Shrimp and coconut shrimp. They all enjoyed their dinner. They were even able to accommodate the kids taste the usual kid’s meals, so they were happy too. Something else you must try is their homemade ginger beer soda! It is very strong in ginger flavor, so be prepared but it goes well with your dinner. We did not get any desserts as we were so full. Great job to the chef who was born in the parish of Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica! Congratulations on your business sir.More
I cannot believe 701 Mosaic has been two blocks away from our vacation home for the past 11 yrs and tonight was my first visit. Our table of 10 was seated outside & consisted of our family members visiting from Chicago and Seattle all of...whom raved about each course! I started w/ a cup of seafood curry chowder which could have been my meal. The Mosaic Pasta was a penne w/ veges and a creamy tomato sauce. The portions are large so bring an appetite!More
We had the most wonderful event at Mosaic on May 4. Pam and Herbie closed the restaurant and 35 family members celebrated my sister Mary Ann’s 70th birthday. The food was wonderful, in particular the Chicken Byzantine, plantains and apple and red onion salad, among...other items. We were permitted to utilize our own alcoholic beverages. The atmosphere was festive, the little kids ran outside among the plants on the sidewalk and the whole crew knocked themselves out to make it a truly special occasion. We most certainly “touched the blood”with Mosaic’s help.More
