Beautiful view but crowded

As previous reviews stated the view is gorgeous. Service was fine and food was tasty. We had seafood cappalini, blank ink pasta and steak, Unfortunately, COVID 19 guidelines were not being adhered. Tables were very close to each other. Waitstaff were not wearing masks properly. Managers were not wearing masks at all. Many customers did not wear masks while in lobby or other indoor common areas.

I enjoyed it here very much. It was a little cramped honestly, but aside from that we had a fantastic time. The view was beautiful. We ordered the cheese plate, which was divine. We also ordered the classic steak with fries, the fingerling potatoes, and the black ink pasta. The edges of the steak were a little overcooked, but as my boyfriend continues on it was perfect in the middle. Not a big deal. My black ink pasta was out of this world. The fingerlings were amazing too. For dessert he got the huge chocolate cake, which was, in fact, huge!! And delicious lol. I got the crepe Nutella which was also delicious. It’s definitely pricey. But you’re paying for the views. Some of the reviews state service is rude. I did not find that at all. Do they come around often- yes, but I did not feel rushed. They were more so asking how the food and experience was.

Waterside has the Hudson River location and sunset. Held a birthday party. Plentiful food. Beautiful and spacious room.

Great party room. Plenty of good. Well assorted items. Overall very good but needs refurbishing. Leatherette sofas are worn. Bathrooms need redo. Waitstaff needs training and more of them to handle an event. It shows when dirty dishes pile up. Eh Ed n asked fir a bottle of water, I was given a plastic cup with ice water. With the prices they charge, one would think during Covid times, a comp bottled water would be more appropriate and customer friendly!

Beware Gluten contamination

We booked this restaurant for a family dinner overlooking the Manhattan skyline. We did not enjoy the atmosphere. Pushy waiters, bar hostesses who were loudly chewing their gum, food not as impressive as you would expect from a place like this. Cleary not at the level of the prices on the menu. More worrisome, the meal we have ordered for our gluten intolerant daughter contained gluten, despite making sure the meal is glutenfree. Though most of the ingredients were gluten-free, the sauce on the meat wasn't.! Big mistake which can be easily avoided with little more attention to details and less superficiality.

We have been here a few times over the years but our most recent visit was the worst. The covid guidelines were not being adhered to by the staff or other customers in common areas. The night we were there for dinner it rained and since they do not have an outdoor roof covering all of their tables we had to scramble for cover back inside. The waiters watched us struggle to try and salvage our meal, but did nothing to help eventually someone came over to ask if we wanted our check or if we wanted to continue our meal. We expressed we would like to have dessert and so we were moved to another table that was also not completely covered but at this point we just wanted to finish our meal. We understand the restaurant can't control the weather but since all we can do is eat outdoors right now it would make sense to invest in a retractable roof or plastic covering so that all customers can eat in peace. As for the food it has always been mediocre (our stuffed artichokes were very oily) and the portions have definitely gotten very small in comparison to what you pay for it. I do not think we will be coming back any time soon.

So disappointed

Let me start out by saying I've frequented the location for over 15 years. After dropping $700.00 for dinner our group decided to go outside for a drink and some photos. After standing there for 25 minutes and not being approached or acknowledged by a server I went into the bar to order some drinks. The bar tender told me we had to wait outside for a server. I explained to him I was out there 25 minutes and no one approached me, can I order the drinks from you? With this a bouncer approached me and starts leading me outside like I was cattle telling me the same bullis$1t. I immediately took the group to another local establishment and was welcomed with open arms. I understand we are in the middle of a Pandemic, I understand food service establishments are hurting for business and need our support. More importantly I understand as a customer I can easily take my business elsewhere. We spent another few hundred dollars in the second establishment. You can rest assure the Waterside will not be receiving my money anytime in the near future.

Staff should be as great as the view

Not friendly staff….the servers looked miserable never cracked a smile The waiter acted more like a busboy than a friendly waiter. Sad portions. For a dinner party of over 20 people….I was disappointed. One of the guest sent her dish back and the server replied”you know you still have to pay for this” WTF. Don’t rest on the fact that you have a fantastic view…..focus on guest experience.

I was there for a post funeral, memorial luncheon so I will avoid discussing the prices (steep). The view of Sky Scraper National Park is glorious, and tour boats and pleasure craft cruising up and down the Hudson is an entertaining past time while you are waiting or just having a cocktail. My picture shows the protected "outdoor seating" accommodations, which we did not use due to the chilly weather. The food here is above reproach, bordering on excellent (I do not eat big, midday meals) but the rest of the party raved about the food. The service staff is efficient, attentive and every bit worthy of this establishment in these financially trying times. Keep in mind that we are in a financially stressed time, and this venue is in the People's Socialist Republic of New Jersey, so they have to make ends meet in order to survive. I though the place was worthy of comment. Read the other reviews and make up your own decisions.

OVERPRICED! You cannot eat a view. Food is OK not great...culinary school type of food. AND they add a "20 % gratuity to the bill" This is not a tip...the restaurant can give what they want to the waiter... spend your money elsewhere

View, not the food

I will start by saying “come for the view and ambiance only.” Location is right on the water with great views of NYC. They host a lot of parties and events in the upper levels. Food is ok, nothing special. The seafood tower was not as fresh as i would have expected. The veal osso bucco was under whelming. Service was gracious with a few hiccups. I will end by saying “come for the view and ambiance only. “

Don’t go $250 for a view

I’ve been going here for over 10 years. Not the same, food was horrible I paid $250 for a view that I can get for free. Do not not eat here anymore. It was my 55th birthday, disappointed is being nice.

Great View !!!! Unfortunately that where it ends. VERY DISSAPOINTED !! Very Expensive ! Very small portions Ordered a Fillet Mignon medium: The smallest fillet I have ever seen (Petite Fillets are bigger) The guy that sat us had an attitude, he set the tone right from the front door he made us feel like were bothering him, obviously they don't care about customers. We had a reservation for (8) during a pandemic, you would think they would be happy to see you. Later on he walked past the table, asked if everything was OK, he never slowed down to hear our reply. VERY RUDE)

I celebrated here my daughter’s 1st communion, It was incredible, the food the ambiance, the view, all waiters very kind with my guest. Excellent place.

Worst steak ever. Due to the location, the prices are outrageous. I must say the views are very nice. But you also come for the food and I would not recommend. It wasn’t just my plate, we were a group of 8 and no one was thrilled with their meals.

Loved the food, as well as the atmosphere! The filet was cooked to perfection and actually the best steak I’ve eaten in a long time. If you’re in search of a breathtaking view and amazing food, I would highly recommend Waterside Restaurant!
