After listening to some great Dance and Soulful House music at Newark's water front park. We ventured over to the Adega Grill for dinner. Great service, great Sangria and wine selections. We really enjoyed ourselves!! Always enough food to take home and enjoy another day. 👌🏿

We stopped in prior to a performance at NJPAC for an early dinner. Things were a bit nuts as Portugal had just won to advance to the semi-finals of the Euro Cup tournament; so there was quite a bit of loud celebrating going on in the streets and at the bar. Nevertheless, the service at the restaurant was quite good.... More

While in Newark on business, I was advised to go into the Ironbound District for some nice restaurant choices. There are a number of Portuguese and Spanish restaurants in this area and I was wanting to try something new! I came upon Adega Grill and I now plan to be a repeat customer.... It's beautiful, comfortably decorated and cozy. You... More

It couldn't have gotten any better, starting with a parking spot right in front of the restaurant on Ferry Street. The sangria was delicious and garlic shrimp hot and with lots of garlic. MMMMMMMMM!!! Then came dinner. The platter was huge and looked like a picture, everything on it delicious. The fish was perfect! It was moist and flavor filled.... More

Thank you for painting such a beautiful picture for me! I'm thrilled you loved the shrimp (especially the flavorful garlic sauce) as well as your platter and mashed potatoes. Next time, we'll have to make sure you have room for dessert so you can get the full effect of topping off your starters and entree with a yummy dessert. Thanks... More

came here with a business colleague whose friend knew the chef/owner and is a regular... we came at lunch and sat at the bar... the kitchen is shared by the restaurant, bar and lounge... the bartenders were very fast and efficient... and the food was very fresh... portions were huge, and a bit too much for me for a lunch...... Came here last night with a group of friends for a surprise birthday celebration for a friend. The staff was very attentive from the moment you stepped foot in the door, the table was set up in the back with another bigger party, it was nice because we had our privacy. The food and sangria was simply amazing! We started... More

We'd never visited Ironbound (OK, first time in Newark, too) and were drawn to Adega on a Sunday afternoon by the inviting sidewalk tables right in the middle of the Ferry St street scene. We drank caipirinhas and were made welcome as we lingered; we got very attentive service as we took in the passing scene, then we graduated from... More

Visited this restaurant with a group of 5 persons for a business meal. The atmosphere was great and decor very good and reminded me of some of those cellar restaurants in Cambridge and London, UK and parts of Germany and Budapest, Hungary where I have dined in similar surroundings. The food was very good. I had a steak with king... More

My husband wanted a paella dinner for his birthday. We hadn't been in Ironbound for quite awhile. Since parking is difficult in this area, we decided to just grab the first spot and than decide where to eat. Adega Grill was the closest restaurant. They were able to seat us right away. We had soup of day, lentil, which was... More

Description
With an accommodating and quaint atmosphere, Adega Grill in Newark is the hottest new place in the Ironbound section. Inspired by its name, Adega, meaning wine cellar in Portuguese, the motif of the decoration is of vineyards and wine making. From the moment you enter, tones of old world yellows, stone fireplaces, wrought iron cellar gates and sconces, soft candlelight, coves with upholstered sofa seating and friendly staff, it's an undeniable inviting space, nothing short of extraordinary. Two special occasion tables with antique throne chairs and live piano music add to the intimacy. Two romantic dining rooms cater to an elegant crowd, while the long narrow bar gathers a friendly and fun bunch nightly. The cuisine truly upholds the name of Fine Portuguese/Spanish Dining, seafood and fish, organic meats, the freshest ingredients and to maintain the tradition, huge portions are to be expected. The menu is seasonal and in addition to a varied selection of delectable dishes to satisfy any palette, daily specials are always featured. The wine list with over 180 selections is an ambitious one that keeps growing, but sure not to disappoint the discriminating connoisseur.
