This was our second time here for dinner, prior to attending an event at the Prudential Center. The food is very good and varied - you can get something as simple as a sandwich, salad or full entree. There are two floors - the first...floor is more of a bar, loud scene, while the second floor is much more subdued and dinner-like. Make reservations for dinner if you're going on any night there is an event at the PruCenter or there's a good chance you won't get seated.More

I use to live in NJ and for many years have loved their food. I was vising NJ Jan. 17, 2020 for a family party. Before the private party, I invited a group of 10 close friends to meet there for snacks and drinks. We...ended up spending over $500 and it was worth every penny! This included our various meals and top shelve drinks! Menu can accommodate any budget! Love them, we see them again when I return home!More

Grateful that I made reservations because it was crowded & a long wait for those without a reservation. The food was delicious especially the Seafood Paella & the Chicken in Garlic Sauce with Shrimp. The stuffed mushrooms were tasty too. I highly advise this restaurant if...you are in Newark.More

We were looking for a place for six to eat before seeing the wonderful Hugh Jackman at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ and came across the Chateau of Spain, two blocks through an alley and a parking lot. We had White Sangria, a Caesar...Salad, Filet of Sole Madrid, grilled jumbo shrimp, stuffed shrimp, stuffed filet of sole, shrimp in Garlic sauce and chicken parmigiana. No desserts though. We all enjoyed our meals. They were presented hot. Some of the dishes were slightly over-salted, but the sauces were very tasteful and the preparation of the main meat and fish was wonderful. It looked like they were short one person on the wait staff. The two single toilet bathrooms on the second floor were no where near the amount they needed, especially when twenty people were all leaving for the concert at the same time. If you have the opportunity, enjoy!More

I made a reservation at Chateau of Spain because of it's proximity to the Prudential Center (we saw Hugh Jackman there last night!). It's an easy 2 block walk up Broad Street to the arena. The restaurant was wonderful and far exceeded my expectations! There...is a casual, pub-like section with a busy bar downstairs, but we were seated upstairs in their spacious, serene main dining room. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The menu was very nice and everything we had - lobster bisque, salads, chicken marsala, steak, cheesecake - was excellent. The portions are huge so we had leftovers to take home. The wine list was very reasonable - we had a fantastic bottle of Rioja for $35. The wait staff was so friendly and even brought out the cheesecake with a candle in it and sang Happy Birthday to my father! Next time I go to an event at The Prudential Center, I will definitely go to Chateau of Spain for dinner beforehand!More

We went to see a show at Prudential Center and the restaurant is a few blocks away. We luckily got in without a reservation. The service was good only had to ask for dressing 3 times. Everything else we asked and it was brought out...as requested. We shared the calamari which was a decent size portion and it came out piping hot. It was good. My husband had the fillet of sole in garlic sauce he said it was okay. I had some and agreed it was okay. I had the shrimp with garlic sauce it too was rated okay by both of us. I've had the shrimp in garlic sauce in many restaurants and this one was decent not great. Maybe I should have ordered it with Jumbo shrimp and it would have been better. I saw someone who ordered the appetizer portion and it looked almost as large as my dinner portion had I known I would have ordered that for my dinner. My white sangria was delicious it was my favorite part of the meal.More

We came here before a concert at the Prudential center. My husband and I ordered the paella Valenciana and a 1/2 pitcher of sangria. The paella came out steaming hot and full of seafood, chicken, and sausage. It was delicious and enough to feed 3-4...people. The sangria was also very good and the wait staff were polite and accommodating. We sat downstairs and it was noisy because if the bar, but we really enjoyed our food.More

Glad you enjoyed your pre-concert meal! You can't go wrong with the paella. Apologies about the noise -- for next time, feel free to ask our staff about being seated upstairs. It's a quieter, more intimate experience up there. Thanks for the review!

I feel so ashamed that I never knew about this restaurant despite me being a longtime native of Newark. But luckily, my grandmother decided to take me here for my birthday and it was quite a pleasant experience for me. The food menu had quite...an exquisite variety, the atmosphere in the restaurant itself was so relaxed, the staff is friendly, and the food itself is very delicous. I now always make it a necessity to come to Chateau of Spain everytime I come to Newark and would have no problem at all recommending everyone else to visit here as well.More

Located close to the federal courthouse and federal building, this white table cloth restaurant is a great place for a nice lunch that is reasonably priced. We take our interns here to thank them at the end of the semester. Governor Christie would eat here...when he was the United States Attorney. I love the garlic chicken with rice and veggies. They make great soups for takeout. Definitely worth going.More
