About
Spanish Tapas Restaurant in the heart of the Ironbound. We have a full liquor license. We have one of the largest selections of vegetarian tapas in the neighborhood. Our Flamenco shows during the Fall and Spring season are a big hit. Our main entrees, yes we have those too, feature many regional and national traditional dishes from Spain.

This is a great place to stop for a bite and a drink. I don't think anything will blow you away, but the atmosphere is nice and the fare is solid.

What an amazing night at Mompou! It was a retirement party for my love, and everything was PERFECT! Francisco was a delight to work with. He left no details overlooked for the party downstairs in the wine room. Presentation was beautiful and tapas were delicious....German from the wait staff who took care of us was AWESOME! Great, great night. Can’t wait to go back!!More

I have not been here in a long time and it was just as good as it was 4 years ago . I came here after a concert and dancing so me and my gf and her son were hungry . We had drinks ....I had a red wine from Chile. We had the delicious red potatoes with a creamy sauce inside. I had shrimp in a garlic sauce but it was not alot of garlic which I like. It was still flavorful. They have an outside backyard garden but it was closed so we sat inside . Waiter was good and food was not a long wait . I will definitely be back to eat and have a glass of vino . They have a bar you can sit at or tables with service. They are known for their tapas that they serve on a three level tier . They also have entrees for dinner which are bigger. I love the modern earthy style & design to the bar / restaurant. It is very beautiful I think .More

My friend and I just ate we did not know of this place. We had coffee and drinks. Fabio our waiter was like his name service was fabulous. He was very attentive. Explained all the wines and coffee to us. He also explained the food...menu. I have not tasted the food but I will the next time. The environment has a European vibe. It did not seem like you were on Ferry Street. A must try.More

This is our 2nd time dining here and the service was professional and Covid sensitive. Their signature cocktail drinks are excellent. The menu is well thought out and you can choose tapas or an entree.

We had a fantastic experience! It was a large group - birthday party. All guests loved their choice of food - tapas, wine, cocktails, paella, grilled octopus, salad, steak. Each plate was perfectly done, distinctive flavors, authentic recipes followed. The service was superb - attentive...and fast. The show brought the house down with songs, dancing and instrumental music. It made you feel you are in the heart of Spain. Magic! Overall, it was a memorable celebration, one that we'll cherish. Thank you for making it special! I would highly recommend this place.More

Went to Newark Penn Station on a Saturday night to pick up my wife. It was around 7:30 pm and she was hungry after a 3 1/2 hr train ride so looked up some local places for a quick bite. Reviews for Mompou were favorable...so stopped in. Offered a table just in time for their flamenco show. What a surprise - great atmosphere, electric performance, good food and drinks. Exceeded expectations and had a great time! Highly recommended! Will be back with our friends!More

We ordered 5 Tapas dishes and 2 deserts for 3 people! Each one tasted even better then I remembered them to taste while in Spain! A fantastic experience! The staff worked as a team and we left very pleased. We walked through the neighborhood and...it was like walking the Streets of Portugal. Many nice shops and lovely Spanish pastry shops. A real treat 2.5 miles from Newark airport!More

If you are ever in the Newark, New Jersey area and looking for a great tapas, this is a place to visit especially on the weekends. It has both indoor and outdoor space to accommodate a decent crowd. Nice bar area and also, they have...live musical performances. Reasonably priced tapas selections and drinks.More

We stopped in after a New York matinee on our way home to New Jersey. It was not particularly crowded at 5:30 pm, and we sat at the front and watched the sidewalk parade. Service was spectacular, as if the waiters were mind-readers. We had:...tostones, chicken meatballs, veggie paella, fried cod with onion relish, and veggie coca. (They have a selection of 25 tapas.) Two Tanqueray martinis. Two Tito martinis. Good pours, but the gins were $15 apiece, which is a little strong for not Manhattan or Brooklyn. But the whole bill was $125, and each dish was tasty and well-made, a high-end tapas experience untouchable in the city for less than $175 (unless, perhaps, you know some secret neighborhood spot). Bravo!More

The owner introduced entertainment, flamenco and Spanish films, making it worth frequent visits for the varied programming. The food is extraordinary, always fresh, beautifully presented with service beyond compare. There are so many tapas dishes, entrees and selections to choose from. The selection of wine...and beer is excellent. Go for dinner, go for lunch, go for the entertainment, but be sure to go.More
