Loved the food here. Pickup was safe and easy. The old School Pad Thai was rich and flavorful. The Drunken Noodle had a nice heat to it but it didn't overpower the flavors of the dish. The Se Ew was a nice counterbalance to the...first two dishes with its wide noodles and light garlic soy sauce. We all shared and each dish was voted a favorite by one of us. Up Thai is now on our list for takeout nights.More

I got take out Pad Thai with chicken. The sauce was generic Chinese brown sauce with no hint of Tamarind glopped over a mound of mushy rice noodles. No lime wedge, no bean sprouts, no ground peanuts, no garnish of any kind.

Super disappointed. Went there for dinner and even though plenty of tables open, got seated by the bathroom at a table that’s usually outside on the sidewalk. We asked if we could be moved somewhere else, but we were brushed off. Even the couple who...came in after us got a nicer table. We left instead of smelling the bathroom while we ate. We’ve gone here many times and always enjoyed the food and the service. Not sure why tonight was the exception, but sad to say we probably won’t be going back.More

We've had dinner at Up Thai a few times in the past. This past Saturday, we were driving by, took a quick look at their online menu which lists "Lunch Special Tues - Sat". We were in the mood for a relatively inexpensive and quick...lunch and the lunch special would have been perfect. When we sat down, we were told by the waiter that "That's only for take-out on Saturdays." We said that it was listed on their online menu, but we were told - nope...take out only. Nowhere does it say that on their menu "take out only on Saturdays", so they're starting this visit with a bing ding as we were looking forward to the mostly $9-$12 lunch menu. We decided to stay and ordered street food and green tea. They only brought out one tea after we said "we will have tea" and we had to ask for a second. The tea came - hot water in a coffee cup with a tea bag. At an Asian restaurant where I"m paying $2 for my glass for tea, if they're going to use tea bags instead of loose tea, I would expect they would bring out a small tea pot with a couple of bags in it so we can each get more than 6 ounces. The tea was disappointing as the small cup was empty before the meal came (no offer of "would you like more hot water"). The meals we ordered (Pad Thai & Thai Basil Chicken) were both very good. Portions were "right sized" - we had no leftovers but did not leave hungry. I would hope that they would fix their online menu to make it more accurate (not that it also lists lunch as served until 2:45AM instead of 2:45PM). The combination of "you can't have the lunch that's listed as being served on our menu" and here's a tea bag for ya left us with a bad taste in our mouth. Luckily the food is good enough that we left satisfied, but with a bad experience. Hopefully they'll fix their online menu at some point (I won't hold my breath)...We probably should have been told something like "Oh - that's our mistake. We'll fix the website and let you order the meal since that's why you came in" as they WERE serving the lunch food, just only for take-out.More

Been here several times and never disappointed. Best Thai food in the area in my opinion. Rarely crowded and reasonably priced.

We were looking for a more local Thai restaurant and the reviews here sounded good. We had dinner last week and were pleasantly surprised. The service was fast and pleasing. We had a curry dumpling appetizer which were delicate and delicious. My wife had the...duck which was a large breast perfectly prepared with a tamarind sauce which was incredible. I had a shrimp dish which was medium spicy with about 6 medium sized shrimp. Both served with brown rice. I will return for sure.More

Disappointing. The Spicy Fried Rice shrimp were dried out and tasted like leftovers from the previous day's buffet (which they do not offer). Pad Thai was oily, missing peanuts. Finally, although they offer Saturday Lunch, we were told it is offered as Take Out only...on Saturday, but we were free to order lunch special to go. This policy is not written on the menu. You get one opportunity to get it right - will not be returning.More

Went here at 4pm after a long day of hiking, so we were hungry. We ordered chicken pad thai, chicken green curry, and the soft shell crab special. Everything was good well. It was a little pricey (mostly because of the special -- $28!), but...it was quite enjoyable. The thai teas were also nice; just a little too sweet for me.More

We've been here a number of times, both to eat-in and take-out. The flavors are great, quality excellent. When eating-in the service can sometimes be slow, but always friendly. Their menu lists mostly "American-ized" dish names (e.g. "Drunken Noodles"). But you can use the 'traditional'...(at least as far I know) (e.g. pad kee mao) and they will know what you're after. A warning for take-out, make sure if you call that you call the Morris Plains Up Thai and not the NYC one if you're grabbing the number from Google. :)More

Consistently good Thai food. I really like the pad sew ee and the drunken beef! And the duck salad has a wonderful kick!

I can't believe this place has been here for a year & I didn't know about it. I recently went for lunch & it didn't disappoint. Inside decor is very nice & the waitstaff was friendly & welcoming. Having just visited Thailand, I can say...their food is very authentic. They have a huge menu & I can't wait to come back & try more. We had curries & the Thai creme brulee for dessert. If you haven't been here yet, please go!More

We usually have dinner at Up Thai on Friday nights. The food is delicious and the place is hidden inside a strip mall. BYOB and the atmosphere is friendly & cozy. I would highly recommend this restuarant.

WE had dumplings, tom kha gai and thai basil. The dumplings were ok. but the soup and the thai basil were very good. But it was a bit sweet ever after we asked for medium spicy. But very authentic thai food.

We went there after a recommendation from one colleague. It is a small restaurant on route 53 and a little hard to find in first chance. It was open until 930 PM and we entered at 9 PM. As soon as we entered and sit,...the server said, you have to give all orders together. I was like let me read the menu first. Anyway, we ordered lemongrass soup, curry puff, pad Thai and Thai red curry. The soup was a bit oily as I had tom yum earlier too in various Thai restaurants so I Know. Curry puff was chicken pastry so nothing special was that Thai red curry was okay and so was pad Thai though it was very sweet. And yes, after serving our order, the server again reminded us they ll be close so any last order? The ambiance was good. While eating, dishes cleaning sound ( as they were closing and the kitchen was just behind us as it is a small restaurant) was keep coming so it was not a pleasant dining experience.More
