WARNING! DO NOT EAT AT “SALUTE” IN MONTCLAIR, NJ UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! To begin with... The tables are spaced too close together and the owner, who was seating people refuses to wear a face mask. The owner does NOT wear a face mask. There is...a flagrant disregard for Covid precautions that starts with the owner in the front of house where anyone can see it. One can only shudder at the health code violations that are likely taking place in the back of house where customers can’t see it. Food: The tuna tartare appetizer was fishy smelling and tasting and served at room temp instead of chilled. It is likely pre batched instead of made to order using non sushi grade tuna and left out unrefrigerated for the entire dinner shift. It was awful. The salmon entree was over cooked, lukewarm, floating in a pool of vegetable oil, and tasteless. I requested a lemon wedge to try and zest it up with. Very, very disappointing. Atmosphere: The four top table behind us was very drunk, boisterous, and unruly. It is the responsibility of any good establishment to ck on the comfort of its guests. The owner and staff were very much aware of what was going on and did nothing about it. I looked for the owner to discuss this and our server, Adam, said he’d left for the evening. Adam, lied. A few minutes later I saw him and the owner in deep conversation. I thought perhaps they were discussing a way to remedy and correct our really terrible dining experience. Wrong! Not even an apology. Adam dropped the ck and was gone. We pd and left. And we’re never going to eat at Salute again. I suggest you never eat there either.More

Saturday evening early dinner for 3 at 530pm. Valet parking ($7) does make it easy in and out. Our server was very good, the restaurant does team service with all the courses delivered by runners from the kitchen and wait staff stays on the floor....The grilled octopus is plentiful and well prepared. Although the ceasur was a little heavy on the dressing, our entrees (pasta, risotto, chicken) were all excellent. The food is solid. Just note the dining room gets very loud as the restaurant fills up.More

We ate here on a Saturday night with a reservation. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation time and were seated immediately. The restaurant was a little loud and the space was tight. Our waitress was friendly, the service was excellent, and the food...was good. The Marluzzo was a dish on the special menu for the day.More

This is not a comfortable restaurant from there not being any parking to the crowded tables, and the noise level is ridiculous. You literally have to shout to the waitress and read lips. The food is just Ok. This is not fine dining. There are...far better restaurants with parkingMore

Good brick oven pizza choices. Nice ambiance for a byob. Sexy and intimate vibe here for a pleasant lunch.

Selected restaurant in part due to proximity of Wellmont Theatre, it's a byob. Made a reservation in advance but ran 20 minutes late due to traffic. Called restaurant to advise and they were very accomodating and held our table. They have inside and outside dining....The place is very well run, excellent service and good menu and a delicious meal. We had their special and it was delicious. The bread and oil served at the table is delicious (maybe too good) had to ask for seconds and thirds. Dessert menu looked good but we were tight on time for the show and had to pass. Overall, great experience though the place can be noisy and a bit warm., aMore

This is our go-to restaurant for Italian food, especially pasta. Interesting and delicious entrees, salads, and appetizers sometimes make choosing a pasta hard though. Very warm and welcoming staff and environment.

Unintentionally ended up here and had the best homemade ravioli. My friend ordered chicken penne vodka (not on the menu) when the food arrived we shared our dishes, both were very flavorful. We will be returning again soon.

We celebrated my sisters getting her masters in nursing and had dinner here for about 12 people. Besides the challenges of finding parking, it’s very accessible. The server was very sweet and attentive and the overall atmosphere is casual and comfortable. We had our 4...year old and it was way past her bedtime, so we quickly ordered a margarita pizza. It was perfect for her and for us. We also shared the aracini. The pasta fishers were very generous in size and flavorful. It’s BYOB which makes it more economical for large parties. Overall good good and great service for a crowd.More
