After attending the Paper Mill Playhouse, we had dinner before heading home. It was located in the heart of downtown Millburn, NJ. Parking was across the street and dining was both inside and outside. Since it was warm out, we dined inside. The atmosphere was...authentic Italian and service professional. We ordered burrata as an appetizer along the classic veal parmigiana and veal Milanese. The food was so delicious. It was delightful to just relax and enjoy a wonderful meal. Oh, by the way, the cannoli was sinful deliciousMore

Tasty, nice sized portions of food and friendly, attentive staff! Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake to end a delightful dinner. A great way to start a date night with my wife, finishing with a show at the Paper Mill!

Went there for the first time last night for an early dinner. It's a BYOB and there is a liquor store two doors down (The Wine Rack). First of all, I went in there to get a bottle of wine and the selection of cold...wines was limited. I asked the clerk if they had a bottle cooler and they do. The man got the bottle I wanted, put it in the cooler, rang me up and offered to bring the wine over in 5-10 minutes when it was cold. Such great service!!! I'm going to give them a great review also! Anyway, back to Cara Mia. The people that work there are great! So friendly and they really make you feel comfortable. The restaurant is really cute and clean and they have some tables set up outside. They give you bread and bruschetta. I didn't have any of the bread so I can't comment but I did have the bruschetta. It was ok, a little bland and dry in my opinion. Then we had the caprese salad to share and they brought out on separate plates, which was nice. That was decent, tasted fresh. I had the spaghetti carbonara and my friend got the seafood pasta. The portions are large and mine was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly! My friend really enjoyed hers as well. Then she had the tiramisu which she said was very good. The restaurant wasn't super busy but they didn't rush us at all, which was really nice. The biggest downfall is the parking situation. Only meter parking on the street so bring quarters. I wasn't prepared and didn't have any change, but thankfully there is a lot close by that takes bills and cards. And parking is free after 6 during the week. Would definitely go back, as there were some chicken dishes I really wanted to try. Good find! Oh and they're on Groupon right now! Score!More

We went early but the restaurant was pretty busy. Service was very attentive and friendly. The sole special with mashed potatoes was excellent. So were the calamari with marinara sauce. The atmosphere was a little noisy but we could still talk.

Cara Mia is a staple in Millburn ! Constantly good menu, never fails to please us. The food reminds me of my mother-in-law's home made Italian dishes.

We arrived, and our reservation was acknowledged as we were led to a table by the front window. A lovely setting, the food and service were excellent. The host came by often yet appropriately to check on us. It is BYOB, they provided a chilling...bucket for the white wine. Prices reflect the upscale quality, perfect for a pre-show meal and convenient to the Theatre. The Chicken Mello, Spaghetti Carbonara, and Veal Lasagna “on special”, all were quite good!More

I went to Cara Mia for lunch 11/13/19. The soup, appetizer and sorbet were superb. The waiter was excellent. When, I looked up at the vents, it was clump congested like cauliflower. Dust was so thick on the vents that I notified the waiter quietly. It...turned my stomach to purchase an entree & I packaged up my appetizer. But, I had to get the Hazelnut Sorbet. The vents are directly over several tables. Be mindful if the air was blowing hard particles dirt would land on your food. This is a maintenance indiscretion.More

This was our second visit, this time for lunch. The food was "about average" Italian this time, not as great as our last visit. The location is in the rather pricey business district of Millburn. The restaurant space is casual and elegant. I had veal...which was a liitle tough, thin, and overly salty, but not so bad to be very objectionable. The flavors were generally very good, beside the excessive salt. My wife was satisfied with her crusted salmon. The restaurant is BYOB, and we enjoyed a glass of wine. Service is business like and about average.More

Crowded, tight place. The food was excellent. The tuna and avacado tartar was very nice. The halibut special was perfectly cooked. My carbonara was very good, but not like Rome. Large portions. Good coffee. BYOB. Very noisy

Went for dinner with 5 friends, all with different dietary preferences and we were all accommodated. Food was delicious and served graciously. Everyone was happy with their choice. It is byob, which we all like. If you eat late, you may find parking difficult. It...also did get a little noisy, but I will still return.More

We went to this restaurant after a show at the Paper Mill Playhouse. We didn't have reservations, but they were very accommodating and seated us pleasantly. We had as the apps, the Burratoand also the Garlic shrimp, both of which were out of this world....The herb crusted salmon was tasty and very tender, cooked perfectly; veal sorrentina was delicious, the spaghetti carbonara was good also. Their portions are enough to take home and have a lunch. Would definately go here again after the next show.More

Absolutely love this place. We moved to Millburn a couple of months ago and have been to Cara Mia twice, and both times we have had a wonderful experience. The food is fantastic, the ambience is great, but it is the stellar service that makes...this restaurant stand out among the other Italian places in Millburn and we have tried most of them. Working in Manhattan all week, it is nice to come home to Millburn and to a spot like Cara Mia where everyone takes special care of you. Stand out dishes, the Burrata, Filet Mignon, the Chicken Milanese, Shrimp Scampi, basically everything on their menu is great. You can go next door and get a nice bottle of Wine or Champagne, since most restaurants in New Jersey are BYOB, so that is a nice plus since it saves on the liquor cost. Don’t miss out on the desserts; the apple tart and chocolate chip cake are to die for. We will keep going back for sure; this will be a regular spot for us. Thank you Cara Mia and to the staff for making this place so special.More
