Great tavern with a cozy bar, and real good food. We tried the crab cake, the Buffalo wings, and the mac n cheese. Everything was delicious and the staff were great. We also got a tavern pan pizza to go. Will definitely be returning.

First time visit with friends who raved about this restaurant. Very small, tight restaurant in an old building. Parking a bit of a mess with cars blocking road waiting for valet. Service just ok. I actually was corrected by the waitress for my pronunciation of...Sangiovese. I was/am correct (San-joe-vah-zee not San-joe-veez in case they are wondering 😀). Food is good (not 4 star good). Better than typical pub/bar food but not at the level suggested in these other reviews. Better restaurants in the area in my opinion.More

I was tempted to order the hanger steak since it was fabulous two weeks ago but decided to try something different and I was blown away. The staff is excellent and made us feel so welcome. We tried a suggested Spanish rioja wine which was...perfec and very reasonably priced. The artichoke appetizer was seriously one of the best I have ever had and matched perfectly with the wine. My wife ordered the cod which was cooked to perfection and matched with vegetables and sauce that took it to a different level. The cod was so fresh and cooked exactly right. My braised short ribs were outstanding but I ended up helping my wife with the cod since it was so fresh and so incredible. This was seriously the type of meal that we've enjoyed in some of the best NY restaurants with service that made it an absolutely wonderful night. Thank you Martinsville Taverne for a wonderful experience.......and so close to home.......thank you!!More

There were 4 of us that went to the restaurant for the first time. The appetizers two of which were the 2 different calamari, classic and the signature. The classic calamari with the marinara sauce lacked flavor and little too salty. The signature calamari was...very good and both very tender. The eggplant Rollatini was good as was the beef meatballs. For the entrees we had the Seared Salmon, fire roasted Branzino, Chicken Francese and the chicken special which were all very good. All of the food portions were of generous size. The menu for the desserts was quite large giving you a good selection to choose from. They had a good selection of wines by the glass or bottle. Problems that we encountered were that the appetizers and entrees did not all come out at the same time. Also, the service could have been better because we had to wait for our server to come back to our table after we got the menus. I would give the restaurant 3 of 5 stars because of the problems. If the rating was for the food only it would be 4 stars.More

Short ribs and broiled shrimp were amazing. The tavern has a warm atmosphere from the moment the host welcomes you. We've been lucky to have the same server, Nicole, for more than one visit and she is fantastic.

This place is unbelievable. We have been here so many time, for large gatherings, with friends and several times with family. There isn't a bad dish on the menu, including all the salads. Tonight we had an appetizer that was vegetarian and its tough to...describe it but it had such interesting flavor. My husband got the lasagna and i ordered the chicken francese, both were excellent as well as the greek chopped salad. My younger daughter is vegetarian and she ordered veggies sides, the cauliflower and brussel sprouts and loved them both. We highly recommend the Martinsville Tavern!More

Visited here years ago under different management and we weren't thrilled. There are many excellent eating establishments in our area so there is steep competition. We eat out every Friday and decided to try this place. We arrived just after 5 PM, so we had...our choice of tables. We were directed to a very cozy little room with a few other little tables. It was perfect as it provided us with some privacy. Our food was VERY good and I loved my choice! I ordered salad with salmon and a few of the side dishes. It was perfect for me as I do love my veggies! My family shared an apple dessert and I enjoyed a chocolate martini. Service was perfect! We were very impressed and plan to return soon.More

My husband and I have been to the Martinsville Tavern twice, once for dinner and yesterday for lunch. The food is consistenly phenominal, which will keep us coming back. However, the service is uneven. The service was efficient and professional duing our first visit which...was during prime time dinner hours, yet yesterday at an off-peak time between lunch and dinner, the service was oddly inefficent, starting with when we first walked through the door to be seated.More

Finally got here and through the dreadful street construction. You could almost not even get in. Group of six at very crowded table. Ordered lots of appies. Hard to maneuver. Waitress a bit overbearing in trying so hard to accommodate us. She could barely lean...over to pour the water in the glass, as space was so tight. But the food was fantastic from start to finish. Calamari was outstanding. Meatballs to die for, crab cake - thee best. Hangar steak was superb and pork chopped rocked. Decor and ambience was perfect for an Inn.More

First time at this place and it was good, not bad and not great. We had some appy's in the bar w/drinks. Service was very good. However, all in all, it wasn't memorable and I'd probably go elsewhere next time. Plus, the parking situation is...poor and we ended up parking next door at the office building which is fine for a weekend but could be a problem during the week.More
