I recently learned about this restaurant tucked away in a shopping center just off of the northbound side of Route 9 near Union Hill Road. I had seen some Google reviews mentioning the lunch buffet and decided to give it a try today. It was great to see a full buffet being offered because so many other local establishments have stopped lunch buffet service due to the pandemic. The food variety was nice. There were various vegetable dishes, salad with assorted sides and dressing, chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, assorted pakora, and two desserts. The food is mild tasting to cater toward the mostly American clientele, but it was still flavorful enough to make a good meal. The buffet also had chai tea which was delicious. I was given a glass carafe filled with ice water and fresh naan was made and brought to my table. Each table had a bottle of hand sanitizer for customers to use. The lunch buffet for Tuesday to Friday is priced at $12.95 + tax and the weekend lunch buffet is priced at $14.95 + tax. They are closed on Monday. I will definitely be back to this restaurant whenever I am craving some Indian food.

We haven’t been to Sawan since before the pandemic and we were looking forward to returning for dinner. We were 5 and an infant and from start to finish, everything was fine. A high chair was brought over for my grandson, who enjoyed the thin wafers brought to the table. We ordered from the vegetarian menu and the food was flavorful and plentiful. Our garlic naan and basmati rice were expertly prepared. My daughter and her family live out of town and they were impressed by the food quality and taste. Service was attentive and friendly. Sawan is our favorite Indian restaurant in the area.

My wife and I discovered Sawaan about six years ago and enjoy the excellent food and service. Patrons are warmly greeted my the owners and promptly seated. We ordered four vegetarian dishes that gave us enough food for the next evening’s dinner. We had the Baingan Bhurta, Mushroom Mutter, Chloe Saag, and Paneer Tikka Masala. We requested mild with a hint of spice and that’s what we received. The dishes were bursting with flavor without being overwhelmed by the spice. We also ordered the Garlic Naan which was filled with fresh garlic. We love Sawaan and to our taste and selections, it is the best Indian restaurant in the area.

We had worst experience at this location we had 50
dollars gift certificate from our family friend for this
restaurant and on our arrival we showed them gift
certificate and lady working there refused to take it
claiming we have already used this gift certificate it it's our
first time ever to this restaurant and we haven't use this
gift receipt, the payment receipt we had with gift
certificate she claimed that receipt is for we used gift
certificate before
I had to call my family friend right there to confirm and
that made me feel embarrassed
I asked lady to call the person who issued this gift
certificate named chirag (I guess the owner) and confirm
with him she said he is in las vegas on vacation and can't
reach out to him later they did reach out and owner
refused too than
At the end they came to conclusion that it was issued by
owner's STUPID son and put different date on gift
certificate than receipt that caused this problem
I was vary disappointed by how unprofessionally they
handled this situation
Will never recommend this restaurant to anyone and love
to take my business somewhere else.

The restaurant is not well located and you must be a local living in Marlboro to know it exists. The décor in restaurant is very nice, the people are nice. But, compared to other Indian restaurants in Matawan or Old Bridge, their food is at best, ok.

I've passed this restaurant many times since it opened and decided to try it with my wife and daughter, both vegetarians. We ordered the Vegetable Assorted Appetizer which was a combo of samosa and pecora. It was very tasty and well prepared. Our entrees were Sag Paneer, Dai Tadka and Baingan Bhurta. I've never eaten the last two and was impressed by how tasty they were. We asked for mold and there was still a slight kick, but the spice didn't overwhelm the dishes. We also ordered garlic naan. The menu described it as bread stuffed with garlic...it wasn't. It was a round piece smeared with garlic and pieces on top. It was lacking in taste. This was the only weak part of the meal. Our waiter and the owner were five stars plus! Water glasses were constantly filled and they were both very involved in our meals. We will return to try the lunch buffet.

LOVE the food. So good!!!! Friendly staff, great selection. Can sit in or take out. Favorites - Aloo Tiki Chat, Dal Makhani, Kashmiri Chicken. I just ask them for suggestions so I don't order the same thing every time. I have been so happy with all they suggest!!!

Very attentive staff. Food was tasty as well as ample portions.Simple but pleasant decor. There was only a negative on the garlic Naan bread. Tasted more like a cracker not thick enough. I would return and try another main dish

After visiting their lunch buffet several times and enjoying it as much as we did, my wife and I decided to have our New Years Eve dinner to experience the larger menu... The tables were set with cloth tablecoths and napkins, quality cups, glasses and flatware as they are for the buffet luch. The hosts and staff are very gracious and accomodating.. My wife wanted to order the Tandori chicken which is made with chicken legs but she asked if they could use the thighs instead..."No problem" was the answer. I ordered the lamb kebob. Not knowing the portion sizes, we also ordered a side of spinach to go along with the large bowl of rice which accompanies all orders...We were pleasantly surprised to see larger than expected platters to arrive amply filled with our orders, prepared perfectly according to our tastes. We definitely will return to try other items on the menu....

This restaurant opened three weeks ago and since we like Indian food, we were looking forward to trying it. We enjoyed a delicious dinner starting with appetizer of Chana Papdi Chat (spiced chickpea salad), Puri (light, puffy bread), Tandoori mixed grill (cubes of meat with vegetables) ,& Baingan Bhurta ( eggplant roasted and spiced). Every dish was prepared and spiced perfectly!
The wait staff was very attentive and the atmosphere was comfortable, attractive, and included Indian music playing in background .
They also serve an All U Can Eat buffet 6 days a week (closed Mondays).
This restaurant is a great addition to the area and we are looking forward to dining there again soon.
