Stoped by for breakfast yesterday. The food wasn't bad; I really liked my whitefish salad on a bagel, but my wife's challah french toast wasn't all that good; the bread was super thin and she's had better. The bigger issue was the service. The place...was basically empty (1 other table) and there were 2 servers on. Our server was friendly, but we didn't see her the entire time we were there; she was sitting with the other server at the back booth talking the entire time. Other than that, it was OK. I think they are better for lunch than breakfast. Prices are par for the course for this kind of place.More

This place has been under new ownership for some years. Nevertheless it has overall retained the general spirit of a Jewish style deli. Pickles and pickled tomatoes come as an automatic 'appetizer'. Waitress service is usually quite good. Many menu choices. Some prices higher in...our new era of rising gas, etc. prices. My only issue is an expectation that your party be complete before being seated. Arbitrary and annoying, at all restaurants. Whomever comes initially to be seated should be seated so they can start in with drinks, etc. Parking is ample off season but then becomes a tad of a challenge during busy summer weekends as one can expect, given only a few spots in front of the deli in its parking spaces. Portions are amply large.More

After being a customer for 25+ years, my recent couple of visits were horrible including size of portion reduction, very long wait after ordering to the service is non existent and part of order frequently missing. No refills of coffee or water, no inquiry about...quality and overall an awful experience.More

We ate here yesterday for lunch and despite our usual practice of no-repeats-on-eats we returned fro breakfast today Why? Our server Theresa was absolutely awesome. So was the food but Theresa is priceless! Today when we returned Theresa remembered our drink preferences! Sandwiches were great,...soup was good, we food was delicious. Everything was served quickly and was tasty.More

Hadn't been here in eons; literally 35 years ago when I lived at the shore and they were in their old location. So, we decided to make the hour drive for lunch today. Was not disappointed. My wife got the corned beef special and I...got the pastrami special and we swapped off the other half of each. Fresh bread and good quality meats. Our server was super friendly but didn't check back until we were done. Prices are par for the course for this kind of food and there were many things on the menu that looked good, but we went down specifically for the sandwiches. Was a bit disappointed that they charge 4% more if you use your credit card. We already made plans to swing by for breakfast one day.More

Best pastrami sandwich south of the Hudson. Service is great and the food is WOW. everything here is good. Even the straw they provide for drinks is good. Just don’t eat the straw or throw it in the ocean. The pastrami with sauerkraut is big...enough for two people to share. Eat here once and you’re done. You’ll never look at a pastrami sandwich the same way again. This place is like that girl you fell in love with in middle school. Always a precious memory.More

The worst service I’ve ever received at any restaurant. I ordered a lox and egg scramble. Forty minutes later the waitress came out and was surprised I hadn’t received my order. The table next to me, who ordered at the same time, began to commiserate...with me. They had ordered a sandwich and a salad and likewise had not been served yet. The waitress simply said that they were swamped with take out orders, no apologies, no refills on drinks. Ten minutes late my neighbors were served. Ten minutes after that I flagged down the waitress and told her it had been an hour since I ordered. She said I know they’re still swamped with take out. I canceled my order and left. No manager came over, no apology, no attention. I will never go back, they clearly do not care about their customersMore

The food here is simple but tasty. We had a filling dinner and there was an ample choice of entrees. They also offer good deli sandwiches.

Having worked in lower Manhattan, I have found memories of many fine delis . It was a pleasure to experience a good Jewish deli again , sandwiches were thick with meat ,dressing were full of flavor and fresh. Only suggestion the pickle , pepper and...tomato dish could have been fresher.would and will returnMore

This is a great restaurant and definitely more than a deli. The waitresses are pleasant and quick to please. There are usually specials posted on the chalkboard to save some money. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner at various times. Everything is excellent. Prices are...a few dollars more than most in the area, but I don't mind since it is a pleasant experience with great food.More

Love to find a good Jewish Deli a the Jersey shore. Had crisp pickles to nibble on and great rye bread with real butter. Michele was a great waitress. Got the chef to switch out my salad and bring spinach along with two veggie burgers...on one challah bun. Eating healthy lately. Bottomless glass of ice tea. Loved the menu. Lots of great choices. Great place to come back to when I start eating deli meats again.More

We headed to Downbeach Deli anticipating a delicious lunch. This was a take out order BTW I had a roast beef sandwich; it was awful; it didn't look like roast beef; more like a mystery meat - a very strange color; and it had absolutely...no flavor. I had a bite and threw it out immediately. My husband had a pastrami sandwich. It had no flavor to it either; and we know pastrami has a very distinctive flavor. That too was heaved out. Knishes were excellent however. An expensive and unpleasant experience.More

We had takeout from here and felt like Turkey Specials. They make a great sandwich and offer a regular size and a larger size with more meat. The specials were awesome and also very fresh.
