Has become very popular for cuisine and Sunday brunch. Reservations are needed, especially at holidays. Menu changes daily. Sometimes very slow wait staff. Bring your patience or alert them you have to leave at a certain time. Decadent desserts. Awesome salads.

Tried to eat there Sun morning. Parking was impossible to navigate with narrow lanes and double parked cars waiting for spaces. 10 minutes to park and 20 minute line. Not their fault but anytime other than Sun morning is probably better.

Sweet Basil's Cafe is located in a small strip mall across the street from Shoprite in Livingston. It is a pleasant place simply decorated. The menu is quite good with various breakfast and lunch selections as well as entrees. We had a very good hamburger...(ground in house) served with your choice of thin French fires (which were great) and a grilled eggplant sandwich with roasted peppers and mozzarella which came with a nice side salad. The food was very good as was the service. I will be back for sure to sample some of the other more adventurous menu items.More

There was a decent variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrees to make everyone happy. We had the shrimp benedict, the strawberry marscapone french toast which were both very good. I had the Mushroom, Spinach and Goat Cheese omelet which was not my favorite because the...amount of goat cheese was very overwhelming. Would go back and try other items, particularly because it seems like there is a lack of brunch places in the area!More

We decided to try this restaurant for dinner. The restaurant decor is very basic. The food was just average. The pasta was overcooked with too much garlic. It's a byob restaurant.

Met friends for Sunday breakfast and both the food and service were excellent!! We hadn't seen friends in a while and waitstaff were very patient with us- no rushing! All the egg dishes were delicious- fresh and made to order...disappointed that there was no fresh...squeezed orange juice...Place was crowded and all the food - pancakes, etc., looked really terrific! Prices were pretty reasonable- definitely worth trying this nice restaurant- nice ambiance and good amount of parking!More

We had been to Sweet Basils previously but I had always had eggs. I wanted to try the pancakes because the many options sounded very good. I was trying to decide between two pancake options. The server suggested the Poached Pear French Toast but on...pancakes instead which I tried because I don’t really care for French Toast. The pancakes topped with a poached pear in sauce were extremely good. My husband had the Goldilocks Scramble which was scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Our server Johnny was very good. Only criticism is that the credit card slips suggests tips- starting at 18% which we find irritating.More

Nothing fancy. Quite crowded and therefore quite noisy. Was much better when it emptied out a bit. Very good food. Fresh tasting. Pleasant wait-staff, but very slow to take our order. The person came over to take order, and while one of us looked at...the menu to find the item, he walked away to another table and didn't come back for 20 min. Bathrooms could use updating and a cleaning by staff once an hour or more often. Finding parking took a bit of work.More

Sweet Basil Cafe was a great experience all around. Friendly staff that was knowledgeable about the menu & great food from the appetizers to the main course to dessert! Our party of six split three different appetizers. The fried calamari, the meatballs & an avocado...dish. My main courses consisted of grilled salmon, which was grilled to perfection. As well as angel hair pasta with sauteed chicken that was cooked perfectly. Followed by dessert which was brownies & ice cream, that were amazingly sweet & delicious! The atmosphere is very pleasant, low key, clean & comfortable. Also famous for their brunch, Sweet Basil Cafe is a place imo that you can't go wrong for breakfast lunch or dinner.👍More

Sweet basils used to be a neighborhood find when located in West Orange on Eaglerock. The food is still good but where the last place was intimate, this place is one noisy location. Not romantic at all.
