Went on a cold Thursday evening. Not crowded so was able to sit away from doors and windows (where it was a little chilly). Very extensive menu with many good options. Caesar salad we ordered was very good and the small order for $8 was enough to share for my wife and I. Bread was very good (and nice and hot) but we were told they ran out when we asked for more. Meals were excellent for the others in my group but my BBQ ribs were dried out even with a nice tasty sauce. (My French fries were excellent.) When the waitress asked how everything was, I told her and she immediately offered me another dish. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan (without the included pasta because I liked my fries) and she brought the new dish as quickly as she could and it was excellent.

We went with family before attending a concert. There were plenty of gluten-free options for my husband and me to choose from. I felt comfortable as they seemed to know what they were doing. The fact that I was fine afterwards reinforces that impression. I had the brick oven-roasted chicken which was delicious. The fingerling potatoes were excellent. Crisp on the outside and creamy (but not mushy) on the inside. I didn’t want spinach so they substituted mixed vegetables for me. My husband (and two other members of our party) got the Bourbon BBQ ribs which were apparently incredible. The only complaint was that they arrived on a bed of fries which then were soggy from the ribs. I plan on going back there and getting that on a future visit to NJ. Portions were very generous so no one wanted dessert.

Went for brunch and it was ssssoo good. A special chicken and waffles didn’t disappoint. Also Eggs Benedict Florentine with pesto infused hollandaise was very tasty. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We will return.

Fair WARNING. I ordered a meal from this place recently and directed their chef not to use ANY GARLIC in my food as I have an allergy and. They disregarded my request for NO GARLIC and I had to throw away the entire meal. Sewwt Basil's Cafe hides behind the delivery service,Doordash they use, so when you call the cafe itself they refuse to talk to you and refer you to Doordash. Doordash will claim you've done something wrong and deny you your money back. The moral is if a restaurant or their agent delivery service offers you a place to give preferences and/or directions beware that this restaurant doesn't give a fig if the harm you and your helth because no one there cares enough about their food to read that your health can be harmed and worse from their shoddy, unprofessional, cavalier business practices.

Went for brunch and expected great food and service because it was number three on the list of top brunch places in north Jersey. Ordered hummus avocado toast and it came with things that weren’t listed on the menu (tomatoes, Mayo) I asked for new eggs because there was mayo all over it and the waitress came back with a plate of food and sat down at the table next to us and ate for a half hour. someone else brought over new eggs but they were runny when I asked for them to be well done. They didn’t take the plate of old eggs so it sat on our very small table with us the whole time. They didn’t offer to heat our food back up and our waitress never came back over. I had to ask her from across the room to bring us our check. very very bad service do not recommend. P.S. Paid six dollars for two coffees and didn’t get a refill and did not get a refill on our water once either. Didn’t even leave tip lol

My wife and I like to explore new restaurants and today we tried Sweet Basil's Cafe. Sweet Basil's is a byob serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were there at lunch time bur my wife chose the eggs benedict and I the crab cake sandwich. You could choose a side of pasta salad, green salad or homemade fries. The fries were delicious and you could tell they were made fresh in house. The eggs were very good and the crab cake moist and seasoned perfectly. We will definitely return.

We had lunch here on a busy Saturday afternoon. We were promptly seated, our order was taken soon afterwards, and our lunch came out promptly. Absolutely excellent service. The menu is amazing and very extensive. Something for everyone, but way more upscale than a diner. The autumn salad with with a side of ahi tuna was delicious as was the frittata. Portion sizes were generous and prices were reasonable. Even though the restaurant was crowded, we could easily hear ourselves talk. A very pleasant place for lunch.

Brunch date with my husband :) . Sitting outside is nice - inside is way too noisy! I had the BLT with Brie on toasted multi-grain bread with a side salad and it was great! My husband had a different sandwich and thought it was ok. We both ordered a cup of their lentil soup and temperature was luke warm at best. He ate his but I sent mine back and it came back hot but bland and I wouldn't order it again. Service was terrible. Very slow and we had to ask three times for silverware.

There was a decent variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrees to make everyone happy. We had the shrimp benedict, the strawberry marscapone french toast which were both very good. I had the Mushroom, Spinach and Goat Cheese omelet which was not my favorite because the amount of goat cheese was very overwhelming. Would go back and try other items, particularly because it seems like there is a lack of brunch places in the area!

Sweet Basil's Cafe is located in a small strip mall across the street from Shoprite in Livingston. It is a pleasant place simply decorated. The menu is quite good with various breakfast and lunch selections as well as entrees. We had a very good hamburger (ground in house) served with your choice of thin French fires (which were great) and a grilled eggplant sandwich with roasted peppers and mozzarella which came with a nice side salad. The food was very good as was the service. I will be back for sure to sample some of the other more adventurous menu items.

Has become very popular for cuisine and Sunday brunch. Reservations are needed, especially at holidays. Menu changes daily. Sometimes very slow wait staff. Bring your patience or alert them you have to leave at a certain time. Decadent desserts. Awesome salads.

Tried to eat there Sun morning. Parking was impossible to navigate with narrow lanes and double parked cars waiting for spaces. 10 minutes to park and 20 minute line. Not their fault but anytime other than Sun morning is probably better.

One of the best restaurants in the area. Always packed. Extensive menu with daily specials. Food is so fresh. Cuisine has everything, very creative and vegan too. Huge salad selection. Large portions. Amazing brunches. Excellent drink choices. Busy, hustling and noisy atmosphere. Here it’s all about the food. Go!!!

This review is of a recent Father's Day brunch, which happened to be our second time visiting. The previous visit from a few years back was a nice experience, for the brunch food and pleasant atmosphere. I was not disappointed with this return visit. Food was reliable, service was nice. Serving portion sizes were generous; in general each order received was quite sizable, most of us took some of theirs home. One niggle about the variety of selections is there were no waffles, on this particular visit. Plenty of pancake varieties though. Be aware, it was a busy Father's Day brunch time as expected, and it took some while to receive our orders. Not too bad. Another thing was that the tables were a bit closer together than how we remembered it from the previous time. Again, that might have been because of the holiday. Note: normally there are walk-ins only, no reservations, but for Father's Day they made an exception. We were lucky to find a spot in the parking lot.

We decided to try this restaurant for dinner. The restaurant decor is very basic. The food was just average. The pasta was overcooked with too much garlic. It's a byob restaurant.
