We told the server that we had a gift certificate and she took our order. When we went to pay the bill, they would not honor the certificate. We asked for the manager, but he would not come to discuss the matter. No integrity at...this business!More

I like their unique twists on some dishes such as different choices for quesadillas, and their dishes are very fresh.

If you are in new Jersey. You gotta go to this place. Small family run business husband n wife team. Excellent food, and services.. Very authentic Mexican food. Reasonable prices too.

The food was fresh, good, served hot and fast. It definitely required a bit of hot sauce to bring out the best in the dishes.

Ate there once. Decor POOR but food was good. but just placed a large lunch order for my company. Not only are they unable to communicate properly in English, after waiting over an hour for delivery, I called only to be disconnected. Called back and...no one could even find our order. So, I asked for Andre (self-proclaimed Manager) cell phone and he still couldnt properly communicate in English and once he finally understood who I was, he told me our order was delivered to a different building. We are at street #12 and they delivered to #11. He told me he would make the order again, but it was already after 1:20pm and my entire staff was hungry and just as angry as I was. Thank you Maggie's and Andre's for totally ruining our company lunch day when I was treating everyone to what I thought was good mexican food. IT'S ALL BAD AND I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND ANYONE EVER GO TO THEIR RUN DOWN RESTAURANT!!!!More

The prices are very reasonable and their portions are quite generous. Some of their dishes are quite tasty and others have room for improvement. There red salsa is too much tomato flavor and not enough jalapeños and onions. Their green tomatillo salsa is very tasty...but a bit on the watery side. They are generous with the chips though I wish they were less thick. Their pork enchiladas with green chili sauce are very tasty. Though I think they could have briefly cooked them in oil to firm up their texture and preventing them from getting mushy. The rice and beans need work. The rice is simply too bland and their beans to watery. I love Mexican food and they do have some good dishes and with some attention to detail they could be so much more. The prices are good and the menu selection not bad but I would like to see them improve on the rice and beans, red salsa, and try and find a saltier queso would be nice. The staff is friendly and the service is good. Give them a try......you won’t leave hungry. I wished they served horchata.More

We went here to celebrate a birthday. It was a perfect choice. The food was very good. A large selection on the menu and the servings were very large. The service was excellent. We tried 3 different entrees and each one was better than the...other. We had to take home half of the burrito because it was so large. The fresh made guacamole was excellent. This is definitely a back to place very often. The food is authentic Mexican food.More

We had been regular customers from the opening w/ original owners. however, in 2019, we have noticed a serious decline, probably due to the fame the new owners established when they took over the reins. their success has now led to failure. the 2nd Maddy's...in Montclair opened and closed in a flash.....back to Lake Hiawatha establishment. We visit in the late afternoon for an early dinner. Here's what we now faced on 3 separate occasions: loud, blaring Mexican music on a boombox plus TV w/ Mexican soccer playoffs booming simultaneously with said music. Children of the owner frolicking, crawling and running around customer tables; children allowed to skip school days on end. The children pretend to "help" run the business, drinking tons of the cafe's soda and cleaning tables with their hands instead of towels and Windex. Ordering off the menu is tricky and had recently become a crap shoot, depending upon which child was the waiter for the day and worse if you get the lone helper who speaks and understands seemingly no English at all. Yes, the food is delicious, IF you get what you think you ordered! Another customer seated alongside ordered three chiken soft tacos, was given a huge beef burrito w/ fries, rice and beans on the side and hadn't ordered that at all! When I whispered to him if he received what he had ordered, he sheepishly said no, but he was so hungry he did not want to make trouble! Our orders were served with sides we did not order and believe me, were we charged for them, until my husband told the non-speaking English waiter we were not paying for the sides as we haqd not asked for them and had not eaten them. Service was non-existent....the lone waiter was hiding by the register, peeking at us and dancing to his Hispanic rock. Glasses were not refilled nor were we asked if all was satisfactory. I think the owner feels safe in leaving the place in the hands of incompetents as he runs about town to do errands....he has lost the charm and attentiveness to his livelihood he once had. We will not be returning, even if the salsa verde is so memorable.More
