I started ordering every Friday for my family, and I tried all off their sandwiches. The taste is definitely there and the prices are affordable. For the quality of their food, I'd even say the prices are very good. I tried mixed sandwiches, falafel, chicken,...lamb, kofta sandwiches; and baklava. I was not disappointed.More

Had the chicken shawarma and chicken kebab sandwich here several times. Inconsistent taste - sometimes better than others. Small place and pick up is challenging due to lack of parking close by. Service is generally good.

The Chicken kebab sandwiches is pretty good. The chicken shawarma is average. The pita was ok. Quick service.

Great place with good fresh food. Best falafel in Jersey City. But overpriced. I guess it’s another restaurant in JC that thinks they are in mid town manhattan. Restaurants of the same type in Manhattan are much much cheaper.

I tried the Middle Eastern food at this restaurant and asked falafel and shawarma to eat delicious and good. The restaurant is small. The best outside request is good experience and the food is good. The staff are good and friendly. The restaurant needs a...little attention in terms of cleanliness and hygiene but good for the few East European restaurants in this area, especially the tasteMore

A pita sandwich at gypsy is not only the best felafel/Schwarma in the area, but also could be the best sandwich in downtown JC. Prices are reasonable, wait time is minimal, and the staff is super friendly. I’m not from the Middle East, but it...seems to be a hit with those from that area. So you know it hits close to home.More

Tiny place with just a couple of small tables but perfect for takeout. Counter service is efficient and pleasant. The hummus is excellent, as are the pita and chicken shawarma. Serving size is very generous. Prices are very good. Great lunch option.

So happy that the shawarma and hummus both impressed! It's great that the serving size was what you were looking for, too. Hope we get to serve you lunch again sometime soon! Best, Moudy Razek, Owner

This tiny place in Jersey City makes some great Mediterranean food and is a good option if you want to pick up food. The seating is very limited and cramped but not really bad for a quick bite. Dishes worth a mention are their veg...and non-veg sandwiches, boxes, baba ganoush and the sweet dishes. What we tried and would not opt for again are the veg box (much too dry) and the koshary (special item, available only on Saturdays). The place is open till ten and the staff has been sweet enough to hold on to our pick-up order till 20-25 minutes after closing time.More

This place makes really, really good food, for very reasonable prices. I've had their combo chicken-schwarma-falafel sandwich, and it's just awesome. They lose a star because it's not really a great place to sit and eat. You can do that, but it's better for take-out.More

Its Mediterranean all right, but still an american styled Arab food. The rice is usually dry and the salad served along with it looks a bit old. But I eat neither anyways so I am here to rate the meat and sides. The hummus is...pretty decent and the thoum (white garlic sauce) is almost as good as the ones I get in Kuwait. I would recommend getting the kabab (any) and try substituting the rice for the feta cheese rolls or the crispy pita which are both good.More

I feel like Gypsy Grill is good for drunk food. I wasn't drunk when I ate it but it just seems like one of those foods that would satisfy a person's drunk hunger pangs. It's a good alternative if you can't get to 53rd and...6th. It's not exactly the same, but there's chicken, there's rice, there's a boatload of grease so you're all set! The chicken is actually pretty good. It looks like it would be dry but it isn't dry at all. On the other hand, the lamb and beef shawarma are dry. The amazing garlic sauce does help out the situation a little bit but I think even that can't save it. The falafels are good, and again - the garlic sauce makes it even better. If I were to come back, I would just stick to the chicken and the falafel. For the lamb and the beef, I don't think a drunk person would even eat that.More
