As winter has arrived, Satis Bistro has safe dining unlike other eateries. Before Satis Bistro was a restaurant many years ago, it was a commercial space having ceilings this writer guesses are 27 feet high. In this cavernous space, high above me there are fans....In accordance with current dining requirements of the State of New Jersey, all tables are spaced more than 12 feet apart! It's a real safe space! My evening dinner was as fine as usual at Satis Bistro. I started with an arugula salad with shaved parmesano-romano cheeses, along with a glass of semi-dry Riesling. My main course was perfectly grilled hanger steak (e.g. onglet, en francais) which was unusually tender for the cut, and cooked "medium". It was accompanied with thin-cut French fries. With the meat, I ordered a Oregon pinot noir. Dessert was a home-made chocolate semi-freddo: Just what the doctor ordered! By the way, many locals order "dinners-to-go". Satis Bistro is on Washington Street and in the beautiful Marcus Hook neighborhood. Parking is easy, and for pedestrians, it's just a quick walk from the Grove Street PATH station.More

Our group of 3 had a great meal. Very innovative Italian food. Not your usual pasta shop. Reasonable prices and great staff.

Great location, excellent food, attentive service.... nothing to complain about... however. We only stayed for one course the atmosphere overwhelmed by two groups of young, very noisy people...who spent the evening shouting at each other... perhaps they don’t get out much? Shame really that I...will take that memory away. The owner apologised, but I could see the group were superficially good for business.More

Every time i come to Jersey City, i make sure i eat at Satis Bistro. Not only do they offer and cook great gluten-free dishes but the owner greets you with style and makes you feel like you are going to have the best meal...ever. And believe me you are. I had the best chicken dish and the best gluten free spaghetti with crab ever , absolutely divine. A definite eat out. Go there you won't be dissapointed.More

My wife and I dined there this evening. Staff was friendly, service was very good. I had the bouillabaisse which was excellent. My wife thought the gnocchi was OK. We were surprised the no bread was served with or before the meal. We are accustomed...to having bread with olive oil dip served at Italian restaurants. Nevertheless we did enjoy our meals and had plenty to eat. Neat atmosphere in an old building with outdoor dining as an optionMore

This was our last night in Jersey City - we were staying just around the corner. Walked in to find a wonderfully busy bar and restaurant with great ambience. Short wait for a table, but was well worth it for wonderful food (seafood bouillabaisse and...crispy cod). Excellent service and great food.More

Visiting from the UK and staying just around the corner, we tried this out after looking at the reviews. We were not disappointed, the waiter advised it was a new menu. Both the pork and chicken dishes were excellent, staff very helpful. We had a...small table in the bar area and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of a New Jersey Bistro on a Friday evening.More

Four of us had dinner on Easter Sunday. Food was very good as was the service. I enjoyed the braised pork shank with spaetzele, sautéed kale and a light fig sauce.

Satis is small quiet, and intimate. Service was wonderful. My water glass was never down more than 2 inches before it was refilled. I had the Risotto Gamberi Prawns in Lobster Saffron Broth. Delicious. 2 in our party had the Spaghetti e Vongole Spaghetti...and Chili Flakes, Steamed Manila Clams, Garlic and White Wine. They both loved it. Our 4th had the Moules-Frites Steamed Mussels in Spicy Saffron Broth, French Fries with Tomato Aioli. This restaurant is a 5 minute walk from our girls apartment and it is their favorite place.More

This restaurant is delicious and while a little pricier than other places in town, almost always worth it. I say "almost always" because they sadly took the kale pesto pasta dish off the menu, which was my and my friend's favorite. It was literally magic:...We both ordered it for the first time together, and on first bite we both looked at one another and declared it the best pasta we'd ever had in both our lives. We returned like clockwork at least once a month to treat ourselves, until sadly this fall they took it off the menu--which makes no sense, since it wasn't a seasonal item, and other, less inspiring dishes, are allowed to be staples on the menu. So if you have a chance to try the kale pesto pasta, it very possibly will change your life for the better. If it's not on the menu, it's still a good restaurant to try, but I wouldn't go out of your way to go. I personally haven't been back again, but I'm always checking the menu to see if the pasta is available.More

Our son goes to school nearby so we first came to Satis when he first started, about a year and a half ago. I'd see we've eaten here at least 6 times. And we absolutely love it. We ate at Satis again tonight and I...realized I had not written a review. I'd say tonight's meal for all three of us was insanely good. My son had the beef cheeks, which is like short ribs only a little fattier. The consistency was so delicate that you literally just pulled it apart with your fork just like pulled pork or pulled beef. It just fell apart. Set over polenta it was full of flavor and mouthwateringly delicious. My wife had the squid ink rigatoni. The sauce was a Frutti di Mare "Bolognese". How can it be bolognese without beef or pork? Well, this sauce was absolutely a bolognese, delicious and the citrus bread crumbs gave it a little something extra. I could have eaten all of her's and mine. And I ordered the Stripped Bass which was over a kind of cous cous with roasted vegetables and langoustines and a citrus based beurre blanc. The fish was done perfectly with the meat nice and moist and flakey while the skin was crispy, just how I like it. And for an appetizer we all split the Grilled Prawn and Chorizo on a skewer. The shrimp were massive and were marinated in a "toasted sherry vinaigrette". They included the heads which were grilled and I was adventurous and dug the meat out of the shell. Different yet really good. And I had one of their signature drinks, the Ginger Baker Martini which had Misunderstood Spiced Whiskey, some kind a lime or lemon thing, Lillet and a bay leaf floating on top. It was so good I had two. We really have come to love this place. The ambiance is cozy and very french. Reminds us of the bistros we went to during our trips to Paris. We'll be coming back frequently since our son has 2 1/2 more years attending school nearby. You can't really go wrong here.More

A friend recommended Satis and we were not disappointed. The service was absolutely perfect. Our water glasses were continuously filled, the timing of the food was not too rushed and not too slow. All our meals were delicious and just the right portions. The gnocchi...dinner was somewhat skimpy but who needs all those calories!More
