The food was very good! Huge portions, the prices seemed high for 4 1/2 people almost $100 then added a tip. Not very friendly but English was second language. Maybe I just expected to receive Texas prices and friendly people. 😀

Very authentic Cuban/ spanish paella food . Steak n rice on point just how they do it in miami florida . Tostones and yucca( cassava) cooked well. Rice perfect and roasted chicken had some lemon adobo( seasoning ) . Great service.

Went to the downtown location for lunch with a friend during the pandemic (uptown location was still closed but downtown is OPEN) and ate outside. Tables were distanced; server wore a mask; we felt safe. We got the churrasco sandwich (beef), tostones, pollo asado with sides of maduro, rice & beans. It was all delicious and too much to finish. Reasonably priced.

I rarely leave reviews, but I do when it’s exceptionally amazing or terrible. This is unfortunately the later due to the service, the ambiance, the food. I wanted to try this place for several months, but will never be returning. Service - The host was unpleasant, we were seated next to the service table where they were drying dishes, our waiter Marcos was beyond appalling, we waited 15 mins for water, I had to flag another waitress to process my credit card because Marcos was talking it up with another table for 10 minutes after dropping off the check. Ambiance - They shouldn’t ever seat individuals at the table we were placed at, was prickly when 75% of the tables are empty at 6pm, the room was so hot that we sweated and it was cooler outside on this 91* day, oh and they decided to dry dishes and silverware next to our table. The food - Was ok but not worth the price, I had more gristle on my cut of meat than actual meat. I wish I could give zero stars. I had planned to talk to the manager but gave up after waiting at the host stand for 5 mins with no one there.

We came here for lunch on a Monday. My first impression was that the Latin music was way too loud. We had the ham croquettes to start and they were very good. My brother had the special roasted pork dish. He enjoyed it. Two of us had Cubano sandwiches. I thought that given we were in a Cuban restaurant the namesake sandwich would be exceptional. It was a disappointment. It needed way more ham, cheese and pickles, and a lot less shredded pork. The pork was bone dry and brought the whole sandwich down. The staff were very nice.

I live out of state now, but my family and I always frequent La Isla when in town. Sadly, something major has changed as all of the foods we normally come for were nowhere near what we were use to. Possibly new owners or Chef? The Papa Rellena was good, but all else was lacking flavor or was bland. The boiled Yuca was overloaded with a Garlic paste and even the Tostones too. My Favorite, Bisteak Empanizado (Breaded Steak) was a real disappointment. Although a large portion, It had a different type bread crumb (Panko?) that didn't stick to the steak at all and didn't have its normal robust Flavor. It clearly fell from being the unquestioned Best Cuban food in town, to I don't know where now. So yes, we were disappointed. Apologies for being so critical, but you can't fix the problem if you don't know about it.

Loved this place! I rather come to the original spot on 104 Washinton St than their sister site, La Isla Uptown. I find the vibe to be more authentic, and food just tastes better here! No matter what you order, your tastes buds will thank you. My go-to order tends to be Huevos Rancheros and Stuffed French Toast. Please don't forget to get your Café con Leche (clarito=light) with toast on the side!! I've been lucky to dine here for over 10 years. Even though I have moved since, I always make a point to come back and visit my little Isla with their amazing staff!!

Because of the current circumstances, I ordered take out since it was the only option. I would think the food in one way or another, would resemble what I've eaten at the restaurant. Maybe it was because it was Sunday afternoon, clientele is low, and they had leftovers from previous nights, because it still feels that is what we were fed. My family of 3, got all sick, if it was 1 or 2 of us,it might of been understandable. But even then, food quality could of been and should always be a priority. Very disappointed, and thank God in Hoboken there are better choices to choose from. Choose wisely, and don't end up getting sick from food that should always be prepared the way it's meant to be.

I've been a huge fan since first going to La Isla in '98 and drove 45 minutes yesterday for some takeout to support this establishment during the pandemic. It's great comfort food. Buries Cuban joints near me (Jersey shore), and it's absolutely solid. Gourmet? Probably not, but we've had everything from seafood to meats to stews and Cuban presses. All good. I assure you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches, yuca, fried pork chunks or chicken dishes -- our stalwarts. Eager to get back up there and to the downtown store once it reopens. And if compelled to order, do so thru La Isla's website; keeps money in their pockets.

Wry rude staff. We didn’t think the fish my 87 year old mother was fresh. Very rude reaction from the waitress, with finger near my face and screams. Even as I said I would pay for the dish. Will not be back.

These days, I tend to let the Infatuation guide my dining choices. I read a glowing review on La Isla, and I had never been before. Went for comfort food, the "perfect" Cuban sandwich as it was suggested in the review, and I was blown away. The outdoor seating is not open at the moment, but soon.

Just a great spot to have a quality cooked bite to eat if in Hoboken. The Rueben is super but a wonderful selection of dishes for brekkie and lunch all day. Great coffee by the way!
