I was down in Middletown seeing my mom and she took out my entire family for dinner for our anniversary. Several of the kids suggested Hibachi. This was the first time at Koi and we will return. Except for a few minor things, it was...a great trip overall. The prep was well executed, the salad received rave reviews, I loved the soup, and then the chef arrived. He did a great job in all areas, from his skill to the flavors of the food was top notch. I had the shrimp and scallop hibachi and I loved it. The steak also received two thumbs up. Everyone enjoyed the noodles which were cooked on the grill. The first time we have ever seen that item in a hibachi. We will return and next time we will check out the restaurant, which was packed at 830 PM.More
Very unassuming exterior but a wonderful ambiance inside. The food is terrific. Love the sushi. Also offers Thai and Hibachi. Try the Thai Duck. OMG.
After searching for a good sushi place to eat at we stumbled upon Koi. The pictures and reviews looked great so we decided to give it a try! We arrived shortly after they opened so not many people were there which was perfect because we...got our food very quickly. We started with their pork gyoza fried and ordered a chicken friend rice. The gyoza was okay but the fried rice was amazing!!! We ordered lots of sushi, I can’t remember the rolls but they were amazing! They tasted so fresh and just delicious. I know we got a salmon avocado cream cheese, Alaskan hand roll, and some variety of nigiri! Hands down one of the freshest sushi I’ve hadMore
We had a long drive from Philadelphia to holiday inn hazlet and looked for a close place to eat This restaurant is very close to the hotel We were 4 people and we ordered many dishes to share The place doesn't serve alcohol so you...need to bring it yourself if you want We ordered a few sushi dishes which were very good we also ordered a Tom yam soup which I did not like the taste We ordered two types of dumplings both were excellent and we also ordered two types of noodles pad Thai which I did not like and another type of egg noodles with shrimp. The dish was very big and the shrimps were very good but the sauce was dry and we left most of it. Looks like there is a mix of excellent and so so dishes so if you pick right the meal can be greatMore
My boyfriend and I didnt want to cook and it was a last minute decision. We decided to come here. He got sushi which he loved so much and I got teriyaki filet mignon , edamame and their pan seared pot stickers. It was honestly...a great dinner and it was not very expensive like your typical sushi/hibachi restaurants. We love coming here for a nice warm environment, awesome food and the portions are great(yes we are food people), close to our house and not expensive at all. If you have never ate here defiantly go here.More
We were pleasantly surprised with the inside decor. All our food was very good. We did have a little trouble ordering from waiters that were not fluent in English. I'm not usually a Miso soup fan but really liked their recipe. Tried the thai ice...tea, dumplings, and teriyaki - all were very good. Deserts looked interested but we were too full to try them.More
We enjoyed Sunday dinner with our friends at this lovely Pan-Asian restaurant. Decorations and cleanliness are top drawer. Host and wait staff were excellent, courteous and attentive. I enjoyed three different Sushi rolls and also tasted some Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura. My meal came with...a small salad and Miso Soup. Everything I had tasted delicious. I also ordered a side of the Spicy Mayo (excellent - don't miss it). Quantities are plentiful and the food is fresh and well prepared. The menu has Sushi, Sashimi, Tempura, Teriyaki, Thai Curry, Hibachi, Noodles and Rice dishes. Two at our table had the Noodle Soup Entrees that came with large noodle soup and an equally large portion of tempura (shrimp and veges). The restaurant is a BYOB. I highly recommend this restaurant for it's authentic and tasty food and great service.More
When our favorite sushi place closed we were at a loss. We had driven by Koi many times on our way to our old place so one night we decided to give them a try. We are HOOKED! The restaurant is clean and laid-out beautifully,...the music they play is unobtrusive and soothing so you can enjoy your meal and have a conversation with your table mate :) The food....oh my....everything we have had so far (we've been twice) from the sushi menu melts in your mouth it's so fresh, and the presentation is delightful. Sadly I cannot remember the names of the special rolls we have tried but each one makes us drool while we eat them because they are so delicious. We have also order the Sushi Sashimi Dinner and the Sushi Deluxe. The chef's choices are well thought out and substitution is allowed. The ratio of rice to fish is perfect and the miso soup is the best we've had in a very long time. Finally, the service. The waitstaff is on their game and very friendly. The sushi chefs are attentive and the bar is very clean. We haven't had the hibachi yet but from the reactions we've heard when we are eating our sushi has us very interested (there is a lot of laughter and ooh's and aah's followed by periods of silence while everyone pigs out) Just don't forget to BYOB! You will not be disappointed if you visit here!More
This restaurant is beautiful and the food is great every time. I've gotten sushi on a Sunday and Tuesday and both times was fresh. Bento box and hibachi is very good. If you like noodle dishes, definitely must try Drunken Noodles. I got it with...just vegetables and it was so beautiful and delicious. Staff is so sweet. Great place for a date, family, or friends!More
Went here for the first time the other night with my daughter who loves this place and constantly raves about the food. The Hibachi Steak was absolutely delicious and served with a huge portion of rice and a mix of fresh vegetables. The salad was...cold and crisp with an excellent Ginger dressing. The complete dinner is affordable and the portions are large. The menu offers an incredible selection with very creative and different items. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be going back again and again.More
We're big travelers and love sushi. We've eaten sushi around the world and love to come home and eat here at Koi. They have the freshest, tastiest sushi as well as a large menu of other delicious dishes. They serve Japanese and Thai food. While...the sushi is out of this world, the Pad Thai is awesome as well as their curry dishes. They also have a large hibachi table in the back that is great for intimate dinner parties and so much fun! The owner is very professional and friendly. He walks around greeting the diners and ensuring satisfaction with their meals. We love this place and highly recommend it. Great food, reasonable prices, and friendly, efficient staff!!!More
Had a delicious affordable hibachi date for two for less than $50 I had shrimp and he had steak. We were so full and we had leftovers! The staff was friendly and the hiabachi chef was a blast. Definitely a great local spot
This is our new favorite Asian restaurant. The food is outstanding, from sushi to Thai dishes, all are delightful. They did a terrific job renovating the restaurant to a pleasant and inviting place to have dinner. I highly recommend going!
I have eaten at Koi more than six times, and never disappointed. The appetizers are particularly creative (fried basil leaf being my favorite -- a different take of sushi). On several occasions we have ordered the large sushi "boat" for several people and the variety,...freshness and presentation have been impressive.More
