I am not an expert however the menu options offered lots of stuff I have never tried. A good bit is hot and spicy which you would expect for Szechuan. My wife and I had a flounder with vegetable dish in a white sauce that...was very tasty. The fish was done just right. We had a side of mei fun noodles with vegetables which they made for us without the hot spices. Service was great. The restaurant is BYOMore
So thankful for Amy and wonderful servers who were very helpful and accommodating! A graduation party for 32 adults and six children, was enjoyed by all!! Amy gave us good advice, they accomodated a Vegan couple, A gluten free person, and my son who loves...the spicy chicken and chili fish dish!! We are so happy with this restaurant! Its my sons favorite restaurant and now we know why!! Thank you to the Chef, to Amy, and to rhe servers who worked so hard!! Thank you for helping us take home pur leftovers. A wonderful restaurant to eat authentic Szechuan and Chinese delights!More
Return for the best meal we have ever had here. OMG the food was amazing!
Apps: Seaweed in garlic sauce was just overflowing with bit of tangy garlic in a delicious sauce. The cucumbers in garlic sauce were equally amazing. The Griddled Chicken in Spicy...Sauce was the BEST DISH WE HAVE EVER HAD!!! Absolutely amazing. I asked repeatedly how they got that flavor, but...no one’s talking!!! You have to try this dish. The kids loved the dumplings, Scallion Pancake, and General Tso’s Chicken.
We also ordered the Cuttlefish with Pickled Vegetables which was very good.
I can’t wait to return.More
No denying the food is good here, especially all their Chengdu delicacies and classic entrees. Granted it was slow when we went, but two of the waiters were in the main dining room on their cell phones pretty much the whole time in plain view...with one busboy(?) lying his head on the table. This is the third time we've seen this since they reopened. I've worked in restaurants and there is always plenty to do in down time. As we left, we saw the chef outside on his cell phone! No one checked on us, either.
Nothing is more annoying in a restaurant than when you have to think about the service.
We won't be returning.More
Great variety on the menu: traditional american style or get more adventurous (frog, kidney, etc... If possible go with a large group so you can all eat family style (they have some tables with a spinning middle to make sharing easier). It is also BYOB....The lamb was very tender.More
The staff was attentive. The tea was excellent and we ordered four different main dishes. They were exactly as described in the menu. We did not order hot dishes. The tea Duck was the most different but was a full size duck. I thought the...moo shu beef was excellent as it was all chopped up very fine and easy to put on the pancakes.
The Sesame chicken was fine and the fish with vegetables was very fresh.More
We had such a delicious dinner here, I usially wait to write, but I couldn't. Will be taking my sons here when they come back for winter break from college. Our food was delicious and plentiful. We have found few Chinese places in the northern...reaches past Philly that are good, let alone very good. The spices were well done, dandan noodles were good, the dried spicy tofu was great, with large pieces of mushroom, and onions and peppers, and a spicy sauce. The spicy pork my husband wanted was fabulous, served in a dish over a flame. Szechuan peppers present, but not overly heavy. Only light negatve was our hot and sour soup could have been a bit hotter, but was still good. The owner chatted with us for a bit when we were finished, which was very pleasant. Mostly Asians eating there while we were there, very happily. We had plently of leftovers to take home. We will try the spicy chicken next time, not sure of the name, but if you say that they should know what you mean. Several tables near us ordered it. It is a fried type of dish, even the waiter mentioned it to us. They have reopened about 3-4 weeks ago after a fire caused a large kitchen renovation. They were very pleasaant, it is a casual type of place. By the way my husband has traveled for years to China, and we also had a vacation to Taiwan. Their food is very authentic, at least what we tried and saw eaten, and the menu is very interesting. You do not see some of these dishes on other local menus, at least few and far between.More
I'm so happy that Szechuan House is back after having been closed for quite some time. Luckily the food is the same as ever, deliciously prepared and nicely presented. I especially love their spicy fish with pickled vegetables - the flavor is divine. This is...great, authentic food. The owners really take pride in what they do.More
