Little local hidden spot, yummy yummy pancakes. Hidden in train stations, very cool, old train station type feel.

Have you ever thought about opening your own breakfast place and, in wondering if you could really do it say to yourself, “how can you screw up breakfast?”. This is the place that asked the question and failed to answer it. We went here because...the reviews were good. Perhaps the place has since changed hands. We should have left when my daughter pulled an egg white like material out of her apple juice. The guy never said sorry, never offered a fresh glass free of charge. I ordered a spinach feta omelette with a side of bacon. It came with home fries and toast. My meal was delivered to me as if someone cleaned the griddle onto my plate. The toast was on top of the bacon that was on top of the fries that were on top of the omelette. What? I had to ask for another plate to divide up my meal. What a mess. The home fries were oily. The omelette had to have been made with one egg as it was crepe flat. It was watery and the only part that I could taste was the spinach. The bacon was ok and the toast was good. We were never asked if the food was ok, did we need anything, did I want more coffee. I’m not a food snob, but come on now. BASIC. Restaurant. Service. The two stars are for the toast.More
Had not been in here for years but had a craving for a breakfast sandwich as I drove by. I stopped in and am VERY glad I did - I can't wait to try some of their other dishes - I am told by locals...that everything here is rfeallyh, really good.More
The soups were homemade and the pies are great.Love many of the real American wholesome foods. Mashed potatoes!! The breakfast were great and it is a slice of the pst
he most interesting aspect of this place is that it is IN the train station. You could almost say it IS the train station. Very interesting space. Cant say the same for my menu choice - steak sandwich. I should have went with a salad...or club sandwich - each of which looked appetizing [on other peoples' tables].More
Amazing food and great people! Everything I've tried I've loved and I highly recommend for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
AMAZING FOOD and everyone was SO friendly. I enjoyed the environment and vibe of the restaurant. Would definitely go back!
Nice little train station café. I stopped by for lunch and ordered the “Sloppy” to go. It turned out to be the largest and most filled Sloppy I have had. The turkey & ham were fresh sliced and it even had strips of bacon giving...it that extra flavor. I really liked it.More
Came for dinner, thank god I checked their hours. They close at 830 during the week. Definitely a coffee shop vibe. Had the hot roast beef sandwich, very tasty. My friend had the turkey club which she said was also tasty. We shared a piece...of blueberry pie. I’ve had better. Very reasonable prices. Not the most friendliest service. Would come back.More
I really wanted to like the Butler's Pantry Trackside. Though it is most certainly not a bad place to eat, I can't rate it higher than I did. I wish there would be a Tripadvisor rating between Average, which has a negative connotation, and Very...Good, but since there isn't, its shortcomings prevent me from taking that rather large step to Very Good. This is a converted train station (and I like the idea of repurposing buildings such as this that have a certain charm) with perhaps a dozen tables. The menu offerings are a combination of the usual luncheonette fare (soups, salads, sandwiches, breakfast until 11:30) with some house specials. The food is not bad, though it does not rise to the level of Very Good in my opinion. On the occasions I have been there, only one waitress was taking care of all the tables which was a bit inefficient. If you are in the area and want a bite to eat locally, I would not try to dissuade you from giving the Butler's Pantry Trackside a try, but perhaps with tempered expectations.More
The waitress is all business. No trivial banter, no friendly greeting, unless you consider "Coffee?" a friendly greeting, which I'm more or less inclined to do. We got there at 9:30 AM, well after the frantic wave of commuters had settled into the trains and...been whisked away. The mood was desultory, calm, and a bit subdued. Trains still came and went but no one left the restaurant or entered it when they did. It was a moody, tranquil place. Edward Hopper would have loved it here. Service was OK. Food was simple breakfast fare, but well prepared and quite tasty. Coffee was so-so, which is a bit surprising in an upscale place like Far Hills. I expected better. If I lived here, though, I'd be a regular. If I ever pass through Far Hills again, this is where I'd stop.More
The best turkey club sandwich I've ever had. I've been to this small, at no-frills café restaurant inside of what used to be the Far Hills train station ticket office. The restaurant has a surprisingly extensive menu, but I keep ordering the same thing which...is a delicious turkey club on toasted white bread, served with a pickle spear and potato chips. There is never more than one server for the whole room, so the service is not terribly fast... so don't be in a hurry. I believe they also offer takeout service. It's a great place to meet friends and relax and have a nice meal. It's definitely a well-kept secret by the locals because often I see people in equestrian riding gear in there. Since this is a working train station, make sure you park in the spots along side the restaurant that are clearly marked. Enjoy!More
Pleasant surprise. Met friends who had been there before. Selected prime rib special. Reasonably priced and tasty. Will go back
The nostalgic renovated Far Hills Train Station is handy. You can catch breakfast or soup and sandwiches at lunch. Service and amenities are a bit Spartan.
The sandwich was sub par ( tuna was awful!) staff rude...better lunch at the train station next door! I would not waste my time at this C- deli.
