Beyond excellent! I ordered Masala Dosa which was the best I've ever had in NJ. Also tried the baked fish in banana leaves , which is an absolute treat and only found in India.
Highly recommend this restaurant - quality and quantity exceed expectations.

Modest setting; quiet mood; good service, excellent food at a very reasonable price. What more could you want?

This is a place to enjoy good authentic Indian food from the southern part if India. We have been here multiple times and have enjoyed the food. The Vanjaram Varuval (pan fried kingfish) is excellent. Its on the spicy side and is served as thin cut fish steaks. The pepper shrimp is also very very good. He also made a special cone dosa for my 5 year old. All the food has a home cooked taste. High in spice but great in taste. This place is good if you can stomach a bit of spice. For dessert Sammy, the chef also gave us soji halwa (similar to sheera). Very kind hospitable guy. We ended our meal with Thippili Saaru - a warm herbal soup to help digestion. The place is now bigger. Earlier they just had 3-4 tables but its larger now. We really enjoyed our meal and this is one of the places in Bergen county to get a nice home style meal.

Ordered dinner for the family, food was very consistent in quality and taste - consistently bad. Shrimp was burnt, bread greasy. Even chicken tikka masala was subpar. The only edible dish was rice. Strongly recommend avoiding this dive.

Stopped in last night and the food was great. We got the dosa, chicken curry, naan, and vegetable biryani. All the entrees were tasty and had a kick to them. They were nice enough to offer an additional sauce to me when they came out to ask how the food was and noticed i was breathing through the spiciness.
We also had Gulab Jamun for Dessert which was served warm and was sweet goodness.
They served papadum when we were seated. Bottled water was set at the table so you could serve yourself water. The 2 person tables easily combine if your party is greater than 2. We had 3 in our party so they combined tables for us.
The place is small but luckily when we got there only 2 people were eating, more people arrived when we were done with dinner. We arrived around 7 on a Friday night. The service is polite and attentive.
The space reminded me of a pizza place in a former life. I didnt get a chance to check out the bathroom.
Good find in Fair Lawn.

Manjal has some of the best Indian cuisine in the area. They have a number of different types of curries, from mild to spicy. You pick your curry sauce, and then the protein you want in the curry (chicken, lamb, fish, shrimp, paneer, etc.) . The tandor cooked items are also excellent, and moist but still cooked through. If you order a curry, I also recommend ordering one of their breads - great to dip in the curry sauce. They have some very good appetizer dishes above and beyond the traditional somosa. Don't overlook the soups - they thipili saru is nicely spiced and different from the usual rassam or muligatawny.
The just opened another location on Godwin Avenue in Ridgewood, N.J. Same great food, and few different items. The decor is nicer in Ridgewood.

Real authentic, fresh and tasty food. Sambhar was the best. Very friendly staff. Its a small place for about 20 people. The menu offers a good variety of north/south indian and pizzas with indian twist.
