Stopped a Nugent's when I stayed overnight a hotel neat EWR. prior to a flight Soup and sandwiches were excellent.. Local Pubs like Nugent's are not prevalent in the states. as many are closing due to chain restaurants. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

Dropped in to this bar while overnighting in a nearby hotel after arriving into EWR. The bartenders were friendly and welcoming. Nice atmosphere, decor and drinks were good. Will revisit in the future.

If your in Elizabeth on March 17 you Must go to Nugent's. They serve the best corned beef you ever had. A great time had by all.

Stopped at Nugents while taking my daughter to the airport. It's not much to look at from the outside, but the staff and customers were friendly and casual. The food was excellent. The mahi tacos had large perfectly cooked pieces of fish, and the tacos were accompanied by fresh broccoli and sweet potato waffle fries that were crispy but not greasy. My daughters had excellent chili topped with cheese and accompanied by tortilla chps, and a chicken Caesar wrap that was bursting with pieces of chicken and greens. The menu also had a number of Irish dishes that I would like to try when I have a chance to return.

Great low-key place on a Sunday night. Had basket of fries with parmesan and wings. With the wings, tried 6 hot buffalo and 6 thai chili. Hot Buffalo was just right, thai chili was flavorful but could have used just a little more heat. Good service.

Good local hole in the wall - service is almost non existent for food but drinks are good- as is happy hour snacks - food used to be better but staples like burgers still good

My family and I were going to a concert at the Prudential Center so we began searching for places to eat. We came across Nugents Tavern on Trip Advisor and decided to give it a shot. Well what a great decision it was. The moment we walked in the door the regular patrons welcomed us and talked to us as if we were regulars ourselves. We sat at the bar and ordered our drinks and food which came out promptly and hot. The service and food quality was superb. I recommend trying the Irish Pancake! Delicious combo of potato pancake and Guinness Beef Stew. The fried pickels were out of this world. If I can recommend anything to the owners it would be keep doing what you are doing. From the normal patrons to the bartender and Chef! Can't wait until we can get back again to enjoy the food and welcoming individuals we encountered.

Don't miss this place for a great meal. I can recommend the burgers however we are told the Irish Pancakes are wonderful. For the bar they have one of the largest selection of whiskeys I've seen.

In town for the night before boarding our cruise ship and stumbled across this Irish bar. The service was top notch and the server was super friendly. Even helped us with some local information on how to take the train over to New York. The french onion soup was as good if not better than a five star restaurant and the burgers were huge and so juicy. A great place to eat if you are in town looking for a quick but good meal. Prices were also very reasonable.

Went with a bunch of friends after a difficult and long week to know one another. Its great. The staff very friendly. The drinks and food also very tasty. Would recommend without a doubt

You always have a great time here, the patrons are all friendly our bartender Pat was a scream, the food is great, and they have a great tap selection and whiskey collection, best bar in the Elizabeth area.

Wow, what an experience. Nice atmosphere, happy people and such a great bartender, Pat. He was funny and happy and provided excellent service. I had the steak sandwich, to die for! Would absolutely go again.

Went in excited to try this place on a Saturday eve , sat at bar for quite sometime before being acknowledged. Bartender was as minimal a conversationalist as is possible, even with my sincere enthusiasm.
Wish I would've tried a burger, but I had the Irish nachos. They were alright, was hoping for more in a Guinness cheese (I think it was nacho cheese sauce with some Guinness mixed in, as I saw the cook come get a draw of draft Guinness. )
Chili tasted dark, over simmered... Maybe it had Guinness in it, it was nearly black. ) it was served over potato chips, though the menu said 'potatoes'.
Beer was $5-6 a pint. The prices were decent. Atmosphere was pub-ish, indeed, pretty nice. I was hoping this would be my temporary water hole, but I found the bartender's 'tolerance' of the customer's requests to be a turnoff.
Fantastic history to this place...see the website!
