The only consistent thing about this place is the inconsistency of the service which might be explained by the fact that I"ve never seen management circulate among the diners. That being said....food (duck) was excellent. Dinks were slow in coming.

My first time at Locale will definitely be my last. I am a recovering alcoholic who hasn’t had an alcoholic beverage in 10 years. At this carless establishment I asked for a Sprite to drink. What I was given was most certainly not Sprite. I...can only guess that I was given a Vodka with club soda. Whatever it was, it hit me like a ton of bricks and made me instantly sick to my stomach. I lost my balance and nearly fell over. I am completely aware that we are all human and we all make mistakes. However, it was the complete disregard of any empathy that made me upset. When I explained to the manager what had happened, he issued me an empty one-word apology. As he then just stared at me, I asked if that was all he had to say? His response was a shoulder shrug as he uttered the words “What do you want me to do about it?” I explained that the situation could have been a lot worse if that mistake was made and that drink was given to a child instead of a recovering alcoholic. To this the manager had nothing to say, just another empty one-word apology. I will never be returning to this establishment, and I urge you and your families to do the same.More
Food was very good, service, which in the past was terrible, was friendly and efficient, a bit on the pricey side, but not too bad. The menu is short, but there's something for every palate.
Went for an outdoor mother's day dinner with family. The outdoor area is lovely. There is lush landscaping and a cute pond. The appetizers were good. The calamari was amazing, so tender and so crispy! It reminded me of how they cook calamari at the...Iberian restaurants in the Iron bound section of Newark. The mussels were ginormous, which is rare to find. The clams were equally delicious. The bread is wonderful, rustic with a very crispy crust. The zuppe di pesce, the steaks and pasta dishes were all very good. The short ribs were not however - flavorless and not fork tender. The desserts were fine. But, the service was not up to par. The waiters had to reminded multiple times about what we ordered when some of our dishes didn't come out, and they seemed a bit confused about what needed to be brought out and when. Its certainly an acceptable dining experience but not an extraordinary one.More
Obviously our choices for dining has decreased since the pandemic and my standards have changed. At this point I just want somewhere nice, clean with good service. Locale delivered on many aspects. They had a beautiful setting outside in the garden, with a water fountain....Service was good and food was decent. In other times I would have criticized the food more, however considering the circumstances, chef working with mask, limited help in the kitchen, I will not go into detail. I will say the salads were excellent. I will definitely go there as long as we are dealing with COVID .More
This is our third or fourth visit to this venue. Each of the previous visits was characterized by good food and poor service. SURPRIZE: this visit the service was good. The food was very good....we had duck which was delicious. As far as COVID is...concerned, they get good marks....tables were well spaced...servers gloved and masked. They did not, however, provide single use menus and they still deliver the check in the leather folio.More
Thanks to COVID-19, we haven’t eaten out for 4 months, but this was to celebrate our anniversary. I had two primary objectives in making a choice - quality and a nice outdoor setting (indoor dining not yet allowed). Locale nailed both. The menu had a...nice list of offerings, and there also were some specials offered. Our main course choices, bronzino and filet mignon, were both delicious and nicely presented. The dining area was far enough away from the road to make for a comfortable arrangement. My only word of caution is for you to not be surprised by the check. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. It’s well worth it, and we will return.More
The restaurant is nice, the food was great, I give 3 stars because the service was a little slow, this is the second time we visit the place, Great to visit with friends if you’re not in a hurry, overall great place.
Seems to have fallen onto ordinary status. Food was ok but cocktails were mixed up and service was unprofessional. Decor seemed old and tired... sad , used to be top notch !
The outdoor dining is what made the evening. The food was very good.. The duck breast was delicious. The service was acceptable but a bit on the slow side. Kitchen can be a bit slow on busy nights. Personally I can do without the background...music which was garbled by a bad louspeaker. Expect to spend $120 or more all inclusive.More
H ad dinner with my friend. It was a very pleasant atmosphere and the service was very good. The food was delicious
Really nice experience, wonderful appetizers and very good menu. Everybody’s food was good, my braised short ribs were delicious. The service was good except it took forever to get a soft drink for one of my colleagues, they must have forgotten about it. It was...not cheap but I felt it was worth it. I will definitely come back here for lunch.More
Our experience here is almost always good food, bad service. For that reason, we have not eaten here since last year. The service tonight had nothing redeeming about it. We had to call the waiter over to order drinks, after sitting there watching other tables...be serviced, and watching waiter and busboy stand and chat. After ordering 2 glasses of wine, we again waited. We waited so long that our entrees were served, and still no wine. My companion was considering sending the food back, or leaving. The manager was aware of our displeasure, and was completely disinterested. It is a beautiful patio on a beautiful summer night, and the food is good. I just don’t think I can tolerate another meal with bad, disinterested, and clueless service.More
We ate at Locale this past Friday. The food was great and the waitress did a heroic job but she had a huge room to cover by herself. At this prices, we expect better coverage.
Reputation is everything. Offering consistently good service, outstanding food and standing behind your restaurant is everything. Last night we were disappointed to learn a restaurant I had high regard for in the past has faltered miserably and is in denial. We went with friends who...had never been there and upon arrival at 730 ordered wine and salads. Granted, we may have enjoyed conversation a smidge too long but our order was placed before 8. Yet it was NOT served until 9:10. We were told the kitchen was delayed but all the other diners were served. - Two of us ordered duck and requested it prepared extra crispy. The waitress said fine but when it arrived it was sauted, not crispy, and it was ice cold. Why Not be forthcoming and tell Patrons upfront it is not the way it’s prepared or offer them another entree? - A half eaten olive was found in another guest’s seafood dish though management denies it happened. I generally photograph my meals but we were beyond hungry after the hour plus wait. We tried to flag down the waitress but she was MIA and we told the manager was in the back but unavailable. Didn’t leave a good taste for Locale or the treatment we received.More
