After seeing so many positive reviews, we decided to go check out this place. It was rather small inside, but since we got there right when they opened, we didn't have any issue getting a table. We got hot green tea, which was not complimentary....I was a bit disappointed, but hey... We ordered Pork Buns as appetizers, and two of them came per order. The sauce they had on the buns were really sweet, a bit too sweet in my opinion. Possibly they just poured too much on it. For ramen, we got the Blackbeard Ramen in regular, and Green Curry Ramen in large. The portion didn't really look that different between the regular and large. The ramen bowl was a bit taller for the large size, but still... The ramen came with a good amount of straight noodles, but it felt a bit undercooked, and it tasted a bit like undercooked dough, if you know what I mean? Not a fan. We both added a soft boiled egg to our order, and they were pretty nice. Perfectly cooked with gooey center. The broth was a-ok, nothing to rave about. Both ramens were nice, but not great. Not memorable in mu opinion. Maybe my expectation was too high...More

We ordered takeout. We all got the same thing....the Blackbeard bowl and pork buns. Holy Toledo I could eat 100 pork buns.... they're SO addictive! The ramen bowl was perfect. Very porky unctuous and lovely broth with perfect noodles and tasty tidbits mixed in. Extremely...tender pork belly slices on top. SO gooooooood! We thoroughly enjoyed this meal. I'd love to go eat in the restaurant to see how that is. Yummy!More

Soups can be transformative. Warming to the soul when feeling down or on a cold day. They can take you back to simpler times. They can be restorative and regenerative (i.e., hangovers). However, making soups that possess these qualities is like making magic potions in...a cauldron that's been brewing for eons. This place makes magic soup. The first thing you notice when you enter is the decor. The restaurant, which only seats about 20 total and is always busy, has a large screen TV on the wall playing Anime shows and has a wall complete with toys and Japanese nature art. The staff is always friendly and although it is a busy establishment, we always get seated quickly. Then is the money shot. The reason you get off the couch, get dressed and bear the elements. The food, in particular the ramen. The menu has about 15 or so items. It's simple and everything is good. We always order the Chadon (pork over white rice) and the Gyoza to start. Then the ramen with egg to cap it off. And the ramen....what can be said. The broth, the pork, the noodles, the veggies, the perfectly cooked egg...the combination takes you somewhere else. A place where everything seems all right. Where the world is a better place. A place where you become a pirate with a black beard that is full of broth and this soup is the reward of a long day of pirating. All this and it's not at all expensive.More

A very relaxing place to have an authentic ramen. Ambience is very homey where the host's hospitality feels very warm and genuine. An awesome place for a hearty family dinner.

They don't have an extensive menu to choose from. I ordered their steamed dumplings which were fresh and delicious. Their ramen was pretty good. Prices are moderate. Closed on Mondays.

This place is great. It is tiny, but packs a big punch in the flavor department. Its right next dorr to a local institution, Petite Soo Chow, and shares that small parking lot. The ramen broth is rich adn flavorful, and the noodles are perfectly...cooked. With a nicely done egg on top, this is ramen as delightful comfort food.More

At the first bite of my Tonkotsu with egg, my palate was immediately flooded with layers and layers of flavor. The chef's dedication to his craft is abundantly evident in the quality and complexity of all of his ingredients. From the broth, to the noodles,...to the pork and beyond, every bite elevates the experience. The location is clean and well decorated, but make sure to get there early as seating comes at a premium! Highly recommend and cannot wait to go back to try the green curry!More

The ingredients are excellent, the base of the broth is rich and so flavorful, the noodles have a wonderful taste and consistency, just a little bite or toothy-ness in a very good way, not too soft and mushy as some places serve, had green curry...with added Kikurage (wood ear mushrooms) and an egg, again, the flavors are unreal, although a small place, they turn tables pretty quick which is good because Saturday when we are lunch there were several people waiting, the word is getting out about this place, better try it before you can’t even get a table! The owner is there always, very nice guy, attentive to his guests, runs a great little place, pricing is great as well! Also BYOB!More

The food is good but nothing to jump up and down about. I can easily make these at home. However, it's cheap eats basically.

The best ramen I ever had was a hole in the wall place in Tokyo....until now. This is a small place with just a handful of tables and a counter. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu. Everything was perfect. From the broth to the noodles to...the pork to the end. The pork is about 60% meat and 40% fat and it just melts in your mouth. The egg was soft boiled and gooey when you cut into it. Try to come early (before 8 pm) cause sometimes they run out of ramen before closing time. Would recommend and would come again.More

Delicious ramen for a good price. The service was great as well. Not much seating though. Would definitely return if I am looking for ramen in that area.

A no-nonsense, awesome ramen restaurant in Jersey! I have been to Blackbeard numerous times and have always been happy with the ramen. What makes the place stands out from most ramen restaurants is the green curry ramen which has a really hearty flavor that goes...well with the perfectly cooked ramen. The place gets crowded at times but table turnarounds are quite fast.More

This place is very tiny and typical ones you find in Japan. Food is very good and the place is run by a bunch of young people. Always busy and you may have to wait a bit for a table.

EAT THE MISO RAMEN RIGHT NOW IF YOU ARE READING THIS! It is crazy good. Better than Mitsuwa, with long lines and long waits and long everything. The ramen is great, especially the soup. They should make the place huge! Best. Ramen. Ever.
