My husband and I spent the weekend at The Grand in Cape May. The hotel was wonderful and we loved Hemingway's in the lobby. The food was absolutely delicious as was the service! Definitely try it when in town!
The food was amazing! The service was outstanding. Our waiter, Donne, was so personable, and so attentive. He didn't keep bothering us but, was always there just when we needed him. His food recommendations were spit in. We will definitely be back and will certainly...ask to have Donne as our server.More
Our breakfast was served lukewarm. They were obviously sitting. Not sure why since about 3 tables had patrons. Omelettes were mediocre. Fruit was not fresh. We didn't bother with dinner after that experience.
Out for a birthday dinner. The spicy tuna roll appetizer was tasty but a little light on the tuna. The crunch was yummy. I did the roasted beet & goat cheese salad with salmon. Fish was cooked perfectly. Another friend enjoyed the scallops in bacon...cream sauce and another got the crab cakes. She loved the crab cakes but the risotto was a little bland.More
As part of our hotel package, we received breakfast and dinner in The Grand Hotel's restaurant, Hemingway's. After a long rainy drive to Cape May, it was so relaxing to sit, sip and dine upon our arrival. Jordan, our waiter, was attentive and personable. Lots...of dinner choices, and we were thrilled with our salads, seafood entrees and dessert. The All American breakfast we enjoyed every morning included eggs, toast, breakfast meats and potatoes. Our waitress, Susan, took great care of us. On our final evening in Cape May, we toasted a fabulous fall excursion at the bar with fun banter with our bartender.More
Ate here twice. Once for dinner and once for lunch on the beach. Dinner got crab cakes, chicken parmigiana, seafood with vodka. Chicken parmigiana could not be cut with knife, very chewy. Two of us got food poisoning from what we think was the crab....Lunch: Angus burger very good, caesar salad ok, chicken caesar wrap ok, and chicken quesadillas ok. Hit or miss, very pricey would not recommend.More
My husband and I have been there twice. The first time we were unhappy with the way we were treated- but we figured we would give it a second chance. We were basically treated like we don’t belong there. The bus boy never brought us...bread- but other tables were served bread immediately. We politely asked for bread- and he brought us 3 pieces of bread (one for each of us). Other tables had a basket full. We did not address it. We ordered a filet mignon for my son - medium - and it was rare. I politely got the attention of the bus boy since the waitress was not attentive- and asked if they could cook it a little more because it was rare and it needed to be medium. He had the nerve to give me a hard time about it and tell me I must have ordered it that way. The waitress finally came and realized the error and apologized but it came back well done. Either way- my husband and I can see that they cater to the “regulars” and those who appear to have money-,because even though we were well dressed and polite and respectful - we were treated like we didn’t belong. After reading other reviews from other sites I can see we weren’t the only people who were treated this way. There are several great restaurants in Cape May. I certainly would not go back or recommend going to Hemmingways to anyone. Such a shame the management allows such service to customers. They see the posted reviews of their restaurant - so there is no excuse.More
We had fun celebrating our Feb birthdays there. Great food, warm welcoming staff. It was relaxing, tension free dinning. My steak was done perfectly and hubby groaned and hummed while eating his seafood mixture.
