Stopped here with a Mexican craving on a beach vacation...pleased considering the context. Food was great but where was the basket of chips and salsa on the table? Also had to ask for salsa for a Quesadilla meal with chips? Server was too pretentious for the quality of the place and detracted from the experience. Overall a solid choice but... More

This place is great. We eat here everytime we are in town. The food is authentic and amazing, the staffis very cool and the atmosphere is very chilled out. They are great with kids and even when you dont have a reservation they keep thing moving. Plus its BYOB so you cant go wrong. Try the black bean and corn... More

We go here every summer when we come to Cape May. The food always sounds better than it tastes--inevitably it is a bit disappointing. But we love the beautiful outdoor seating area and the kid-friendly atmosphere. After dinner head straight out for a stroll and an ice cream on the Washington St Mall.

Wow...this cannot be the same place where the positive reviewers ate...food is barely mediocre, overpriced and not authentic....I have lived in New Mexico and California, and this is not real southwestern food....salsa ($5.00) is all canned tomatoes, barely any peppers, no onion or cilantro...dull and boring, served with bagged chips...yuck.... I ordered skirt steak fajitas ($19.50)...was made with thick slices... More

Had a great dining experience here last week. Geckos was recommended by Kim at the mason cottage and she couldn't be more correct as to this being an instant favorite. We had a great night to sit outside and take in the sights after a long day spent in cape may. The food was incredibly fresh and the menu offerings... More

Seashore touristy overpriced average Mexican food. Our 8:45 reservation got us a seat at a table at 9:15! Don't be fooled by the Perry St. address, it's on Carpenter St and you will ride up and down Perry forever and never get there. My son got Chicken Fajitas ridiculously priced at $19. It came with a giant platter of veggies... More

It was hard to find a place in Cape May where the servers seemed happy to serve. We stopped in because it looked really pleasant and the menu looked good. We wanted a beer and were directed two blocks away to a liquor store where we bought a six pack for the price that we would have paid for 2... More

Started out with stale tortilla chips with tasteless salsa made with canned tomatoes. Salad was yummy and fresh. Burrito was too salty with way too much cumin. Pork dish with some kind of large dry corn kernels was plain old inedible and anemic looking. When waiter was informed of this, he didn't want to hear it...pretended we didn't say anything.... More

My husband and I dine at Gecko each time we visit Cape May. Our favorite starter is the Mussels Vera Cruz-- a generous pile of PEI mussels with tomatoes, capers, olives and onions in a savory broth that you want to eat like soup! In fact, we ate our mussels right out of the shell so we could slurp the... More

We ate at Gecko's and after that found ourselves comparing other places we ate at to it. We happened to have had a very personable waitress with impeccable service. The salad was so fresh, and loved the roasted white corn in it. One of my friends commented "These people prepare the food with love". I do think they take great... More
