This is one of our "must" breakfast places. Deightful atmosphere either on the screened-in porch or the garden view room. Always excellent food. My favorite is the corned beef hash with eggs and the best home fries anywhere. A nice mimosa tops it off but...the coffee is quite OK. My wife loves the eggs Benedict with tomato and avocado. Service is always friendly and helpful. It's popular and you might have a wait.More

Breakfast was delicious as was the seafood risotto I enjoyed one night for dinner. Staff was friendly, attentive and prompt

Thank you for your review. We're glad that you enjoyed your meals at the Batter. (The seafood risotto is a personal favorite!)

The size of the restaurant is deceptive; we kept walking through rooms until we finally arrived in one with lots of light and a small patio. Good coffee was served immediately and we finally settled on a breakfast burrito; way too much food, but very...good.More

Thank you for your review. The garden terrace in the back of the restaurant is a popular room - it is bright and cheery! Hope you'll be back again soon.

Mediocre food. Impolite abrupt host at intake for table. No suggestion of where to sit or wait for lengthy wait for table. Bar tender even more rude and abrupt. Covid directions unclearly stated. Manager challenged patron at next table who had little, well behaved service...dog and for all to hear implied the patron was lying regarding dogs credentials. Would never go there again. So many better places to go in Cape May.More

Sorry you were not impressed with your meal at the Batter. The covid instructions are clearly posted at the entrance and throughout the restaurant - you must of missed them. Would just like to say that the "well behaved service dog" that you mentioned, was...More

We did take-out last minute on Saturday night. Nothing fancy a salad and cheeseburger and fries. Food was ready on time and hot. Easy. Would love to try restaurant next time.

Had great eggs benedict with crab. Loved the entire menu. Setting was perfect and service good. Went early on a weekday. Otherwise, be prepared to wait for a table

Thank you for your review. The Chesapeake Bay Benedict is one of the most popular items on the menu for good reason! Hope you'll return soon.

It was a nice stroll to The Mad Batter and we were promptly seated. We enjoyed an incredible meal of seafood risotto and had enough left over to enjoy the next day! It's one of those meals you'll crave...

Stayed at Carroll Villa for 2 rainy days in Cape May so ate 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners at Mad Batter. Great selection and quality food. Crab cakes the best I have had in Cape May. They also have a great Paella which is unusual....Breakfasts are large and pancakes are perfect with just the right amount of powdered sugar. 2 things I would change, get Diet Coke instead of Pepsi and use linen napkins. I know the place is fairly casual, but the flatware wrapped in cheap paper napkins seemed beneath the quality of the place.More

Thank you for your review. The paper wrapped flatware is a covid thing, hopefully we'll be done with that soon!

Located on a very cute street, this place was great! Our waitress was helpful & pleasant, the drinks were good, and food was flavorful & fairly priced. They seem to do following covid precautions, which is great. I would recommend!
