We had a lovely anniversary meal here. Outdoor seating is a must for us, and even though there were no heaters it was still a beautiful night. My husband and I had the lamb and steak and they were both delicious. There was a live...piano player taking requests which we also loved. We will definitely come back here for a special evening.More

Delightful. Delicious. Service excellent. Patrons a bit too gregarious/pretentious for my tastes, but its not the establishment’s fault. Fine dining well done.

First-class service of exquisitely prepared dishes on a porch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is hard to beat. Local oysters with creme fraiche topped with caviar, followed by a most creatively presented steak tartare on a seasonal compote tailed by an expertly grilled foie gras topped...with a quail egg, was all I needed to fix a satisfied smile on my chomper. Especially as the BYOB policy enabled me to bring a bubbly sans the usual 300%-plus restaurant mark-up.More

This place is Pricey. just wanted to make that disclaimer first. HOWEVER! The food was absolutely delicious and service is spotless! definitely a special occasion type of place for us. But, If you’re okay with paying at least 200 dollars on a dinner for two,...then this place could be your Cape May go-to place. My hubs and I will definitely come back in the future! Very beautiful building also!!More

We were fortunate to get reservations at the Shields Restaurant for a Cape May getaway. The meal was excellent and the service equally fine. It is a BYOB, so don't forget your wine. We started with the Burrata salad, soft and creamy with roasted beets....My main was the local scallops. They were done just right, and accompanied by sweet potato grits. My husband had the pork chop, which he loved. For dessert we shared the chocolate pana cota, very light and served with a dollop of peanut butter and pistachio. Portions were on the smaller side, so you can actually have and try more options. Prices reflect the fine dining. The porch was a great place to catch a sunset. Reservations are a must, We would definitely recommend this place -- it's excellent.More

This is an excellent dining experience especially for special occasions. The food is amazing and our server was so accommodating and friendly. The restaurant is in a lovely historic home with several comfortable dining rooms. This is a BYOB and we appreciated the reminder when...we received a complimentary reservation reminder.More

We have been dining at Peter Shields Inn for at least 30 years. There have been many changes over time and not all for the better. The friendly atmosphere has given way to one where the staff is "stiff". It now has an all about...money feel. Prices were always high but dinner was worth the price. Not this time. I ordered the duck which is one of my favorites. It was overcooked plus was sprinkled with a bitter herb that completely overwhelmed the duck. It was a special occasion so I told my husband dinner was fine and did not send it back. I am a loyal customer so I will return. Hopefully, it will not e my last time.More

The food was delicious and the service was excellent, as would be expected from any expensive restaurant. They had outside seating on the porch and walkway due to COVID19. The tables were closer than I expected. I really liked that they didn't have menus that you...had to touch. There was a QR code to scan in and get the menu online. Of course, you need a QR app to scan the code. It's a beautiful house and very well maintained.More

Top notch restaurant with an exquisite and well executed menu, beach front location and appropriately solid service. All dishes are excellent. I would particularly recommend fois gras 1st course - it is second to none. It is a BYOB place, like most restaurant in Cape...May. At the moment, the seating is outside only due to the NJ Covid 19 restrictions. Prices are comparable to the better NYC restaurants, which frequently do not offer the consistently high level of service, the elegant menu or high food quality of PSI.More

Dress casual but golf shorts and shirt are ok. We would wear slacks and golf shirt going later for dinner.
