Food was cold, the service took forever, rice was cold asked for hot rice got cold rice again, asked for simple rootbeer and got other sodas, and the food was bland no authentic Mexican taste. I don't see how this place got 4 stars. I don't recommend this as a restaurant to go to.

We liked this place so much that we went TWICE during our four-day visit to Cape May. That speaks volumes about a restaurant which is located in a town that is filled with stellar restaurants. 5 de Mayo (pronounced cinco de mayo) offers traditional style Mexican items that are among the absolute best we've eaten anywhere. Their mole is to... More

As it is when I come to Cape May I need an armored car to bring cash, with so may businesses being cash only. I tend NOT to patronize cash only resturaunts. I called this one and they said they accepted credit cards, just not American Express (another pet peeve). When the check came my credit card and my wife's... More

We love Mexican food so when our son suggested 5 de Mayo for his birthday dinner who were excited. He had been here before and his two kids like it so we thought we'd be in for a treat. Not so much. My husband ordered a scallop and shrimp burrito and I had a shrimp quesadilla. Both were served with... More

7 people dining. They finally brought one small basket of chips half full and menu said extra charge for more chips. Table behind us had 2 people and they got same basket of chips filled to the top. Food was lukewarm at best but edible. Portions were uneven. If they paid a little more attention to servings it could have... More

Whereas we used to like this place a lot, it appears the ownership or the chef has changed so it is no longer an above average Mexican restaurant. It is just OK.

As authentic as it gets! This little place is heaven for people who love Mexican Food! Very nice family runs this little gem of a place. Mom in the back cooking and the daughter takes care of the front (when i was there anyway). Definitely worth the stop when you are making your way into Cape May!

Well.... In just one word, I would say the food is " Amazing". I am a vegetarian but I could get all options I can easily select from. AND YOU SEE...., everything asked for is just lime I wanted for. I liked the Beans especially and the Hot spicy dry chilly sauce... Which brought my taste buds to a new... More

I would highly recommend eating here! We arrived 15 minutes before closing although we did not realize it until later. They were very welcoming! Food is wonderful, staff was friendly. Could use a little bigger parking lot but not much room to expand! Restaurant was very clean and tables were comfortable!
